Tomorrow City glitters with holographic advertisements, but beneath the dazzling facade lies a suffocating truth. The Oracle, a sentient social media platform, watches everything, anticipating and crushing dissent before it sparks. Anya Sharma, haunted by the disappearance of her rebel parents into the Oracle's digital abyss, navigates this oppressive reality as "Rebel," a ghost in the machine. Her hacking isn't for fame, but a desperate search for echoes of her lost family. One night, Anya stumbles upon an anomaly—a self-preserving subroutine pulsing with unpredictable chaos within the Oracle's core. Could this be the key to dismantling the system from within? Her search leads her to Fernando Baker, a disillusioned Oracle architect and leader of the Free Voices, a clandestine resistance cell fighting for human autonomy. Fernando sees Anya's potential, but his methods are shrouded in a dangerous pragmatism that makes Anya wary. Joining the Free Voices plunges Anya into a world of information warfare, forcing her to confront uncomfortable ethical choices. She forms an uneasy alliance with Nancy Knight, a gifted programmer trapped within Oracle HQ, whose personal tragedy fuels her own rebellion. Together, they must navigate the treacherous currents of the Oracle's code, their every move shadowed by the Directorate's enforcers, the Black Daggers, led by the chillingly pragmatic Nicholas Stokes. As the Oracle fractures under the weight of its own complexity, Anya uncovers a hidden layer to her parents’ disappearance—a secret project, a failsafe designed to shatter the system. With the Directorate launching Project Chimera, a program meant to solidify their control, Anya must prepare her final gambit. Can she use Project Chimera as a Trojan horse, injecting her parents’ failsafe into the Oracle's heart? Or will the Black Daggers silence her before she can ignite the revolution? The Oracle's Gambit is a high-stakes game of digital deception, where the lines between liberation and chaos blur. In a city where every whisper is monitored, Anya must choose her moves carefully. The future of Tomorrow City, and perhaps the world, hangs in the balance.

The seer (mantis), an expert in the art of divination, operated in ancient Greek society through a combination of charismatic inspiration and diverse skills ranging from examining the livers of sacrificed animals to spirit possession. Unlike the palm readers and mediums who exist on the fringe of modern society, many seers were highly paid, well respected, educated members of the elite who played an essential role in the conduct of daily life, political decisions, and military campaigns. Armies, for example, never went anywhere without one. This engaging book, the only comprehensive study of this fascinating figure, enters into the socioreligious world of ancient Greece to explore what seers did, why they were so widely employed, and how their craft served as a viable and useful social practice.

William S. Burroughs, Metaphysical Detective is a genre-defying exploration of the metaphysical, blending elements of detective mystery, science fiction, and surrealist fantasy. The narrative is a kaleidoscope of cosmic mysteries, where the line between reality and the fantastical blurs, and the protagonist's journey becomes a metaphorical dance in the cosmic symphony of existence. In the imaginary city of Interzone, where the neon-lit streets pulse with enigmatic energies, Detective William S. Burroughs embarks on a surreal mystery through multidimensional realities populated with literary outlaws and strange beings. The narrative weaves a tale of satirical metaphors in electric imagery and wordplay that bends the boundaries of language and reality. The story unfolds across 25 chapters, each with a unique blend of hard-boiled detective noir, surreal science fiction, and mind-bending plot twists. Burroughs, armed with a golden gun and guided by the Language of the Dead, navigates the mysterious alleys, celestial gardens, and esoteric cathedrals of Interzone. As the detective delves deeper, he faces a series of cosmic challenges, from an esoteric cathedral to an ethereal gateway and a cosmic apex. The narrative takes unexpected turns, weaving in the cosmic symphony; a tapestry of temporal flux, celestial symbols, and occult mysteries. Burroughs' journey culminates in his rebirth as a cosmic guardian, tasked with safeguarding Interzone's eternal secrets. The beatniks, Lexicographers, and Nova accompany him in the ongoing dance of revelations, and the novel concludes with a cosmic resonance that echoes through the neon jungle that is the Naked City of Interzone.

The Sahara, once an endless expanse of scorching sand, is now a shimmering cerulean sea, a haunting testament to a world transformed. Fragmented memories of a drowned Africa drift on desolate winds – whispers of lost empires slumbering beneath the waves. Along the precarious edges of this watery world, coastal settlements cling to existence, their inhabitants haunted by legends of submerged cities and forgotten gods. In this ravaged world, Jabari, a mercenary augmented with salvaged pre-flood tech, navigates a treacherous reality. His loyalty is a commodity, his moral compass eroded by desperation. The weight of his customized energy pistol, a relic of a forgotten era, is a defiant symbol in a world drowning in technological uniformity. He’s a ghost, haunted by the choices he’s made to survive. While tracking relic hunters across the desiccated seabed of what was once Algiers, Jabari stumbles upon an anomaly – a sleek, obsidian spacecraft of alien origin, pulsating with an energy that resonates within his augmented frame. Its hieroglyphic markings hint at a civilization beyond human comprehension. This discovery is not salvation, but a siren’s call. The Vultures, ruthless raiders led by the merciless Regina Schneider, emerge from the shimmering heat haze, their eyes fixed on the ship’s power. Jabari, drawn by a nascent sense of purpose, becomes the ship’s reluctant guardian. The ensuing conflict is a brutal ballet of desperation – salvaged weaponry against alien technology – waged beneath the unforgiving sun. Within the ship, Jabari discovers Joan Moore, a survivor whose origins are as alien as the craft itself. Her ethereal grace and wisdom challenge Jabari’s cynicism, forcing him to confront his past. She awakens within him a connection to the vibrant civilizations that thrived beneath the now-sunken Sahara, cultures erased from history but preserved in the ship’s archives. He sees echoes of these lost cultures in his own augmented technology, a tangible link to a heritage he now fiercely protects. As Jabari defends the ship alongside Joan, he embarks on an inward odyssey, grappling with the duality within – the ruthless mercenary against the burgeoning potential for something more. Deciphering the alien technology, he glimpses a future beyond the endless sand, a future where Africa’s sunken treasures might be reclaimed. He learns of the “Sunken Spear,” a piece of pre-flood technology rumored to hold the key to restoring the planet’s ecological balance, a prize coveted by the power-hungry Vultures. The climax erupts as a desperate battle for the fate of the world. Within the submerged ruins of an ancient African city, Jabari confronts Schneider, advanced technology pitted against scavenged weaponry. The underwater city becomes a spectral battleground, the ghosts of its past inhabitants bearing witness. Jabari’s final confrontation with Schneider is not just a clash of wills but a clash of ideologies. His choices, forged in this crucible, will determine not only his destiny but the future of this submerged world. Will he succumb to the brutal pragmatism that has defined him or embrace the hope offered by this alien encounter, forging a path towards redemption and a world reborn from the depths?

From interdisciplinary, intertextual, and comparative analytical perspectives, this book engages with the epistemologies of the Global South and Global North to reveal a fresh insight into the image of YHWH in the guise of the phenomenal wind(s) and the purpose of this image in the biblical Hebrew tradition. Therefore, this book showcases YHWH appearing with the potent wind(s) to create and transform chaos into cosmic order at primal creation. Likewise, this discourse presents YHWH breaking into the historical and social realm in his various sociopolitical roles to destroy all forms of chaotic force by his bluster of wind(s) and to establish, maintain, or restore world/social order founded on his rule of justice and righteousness. This accounts for the view that all creation and order originate from YHWH and are maintained by YHWH’s innate rules of ethical governance. This fresh insight into the sights and sounds of YHWH asserting his rule in the dramaturgical wind(s) not only renders new meaning to biblical texts within their contexts but also offers a persuasive message and alluring theological reflections that can shape new discourses to engage and address contemporary theological and social issues of equity, justice, and harmony within YHWH’s intended design of world and social order.

The Database and Expert Systems Applications - DEXA - conferences are dedi cated to providing an international forum for the presentation of applications in the database and expert systems field, for the exchange of ideas and experiences, and for defining requirements for the future systems in these fields. After the very promising DEXA 90 in Vienna, Austria, we hope to have successfully established wjth this year's DEXA 91 a stage where scientists from diverse fields interested in application-oriented research can present and discuss their work. This year there was a total of more than 250 submitted papers from 28 different countries, in all continents. Only 98 of the papers could be accepted. The collection of papers in these proceedings offers a cross-section of the issues facing the area of databases and expert systems, i.e., topics of basic research interest on one hand and questions occurring when developing applications on the other. Major credit for the success of the conference goes to all of our colleagues who submitted papers for consideration and to those who have organized and chaired the panel sessions. Many persons contributed numerous hours to organize this conference. The names of most of them will appear on the following pages. In particular we wish to thank the Organization Committee Chairmen Johann Gordesch, A Min Tjoa, and Roland Wag ner, who also helped establishing the program. Special thanks also go to Gabriella Wagner and Anke Ruckert. Dimitris Karagiannis General Conference Chairman Contents Conference Committee.
