L’importanza di Orson Welles per la codificazione di un “cinema moderno” (quindi la sua costante influenza per le future generazioni di cineasti) è andata man mano crescendo e ha determinato una letteratura sconfinata. Il work in progress wellesiano, partito con il capolavoro Quarto Potere, non ha mai trovato una conclusione: si può paradossalmente affermare che tra cortometraggi, ruoli attoriali, lungometraggi interrotti o rimasti in pre-produzione, il corpus della sua opera va continuamente rimodellandosi come in un mosaico d’infiniti pezzi. Con questo libro la redazione di Sentieri Selvaggi prova a guardare Welles da un particolare angolo di visione, alternando sensazioni soggettive a valutazioni oggettive, emozioni da cinefili e pensieri critici, moti del cuore e analisi razionali.
