Over the last decade, the field of socio-emotional development and aging has rapidly expanded, with many new theories and empirical findings emerging. Emotion dysregulation, which is often defined as the inability to modulate strong negative affective states including impulsivity, anger, fear, sadness, and anxiety, is observed in nearly all psychiatric disorders.
