Transferences written by Maren Scheurer and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-03 with Performing Arts categories.

Why are psychoanalysts fascinated with literature and other arts? And why do so many novels, plays, films, and television series feature therapy sessions? Transferences investigates the interdisciplinary attraction between psychoanalysis and the arts by exploring the therapeutic relationship as a recurring figure in psychoanalytic discourse, literature, theater, and television. In addition to close readings of psychoanalytic and critical texts, the book presents a new approach to examining psychoanalytic themes and formal devices in texts like Philip Roth's Portnoy's Complaint, J. M. Coetzee's Life & Times of Michael K, Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace, Peter Shaffer's Equus, and the HBO series In Treatment. Transferences argues that psychoanalysts as well as writers and other artists are fascinated by the therapeutic relationship because it provides a unique site to negotiate the narrative and artistic underpinnings of psychoanalysis and reflect and reinvent the aesthetic and poetic potentiality of art.

Patrick The Penguin written by Margaret Morningstar and has been published by Author House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-12-03 with Juvenile Nonfiction categories.

Margaret Morningstar has always loved children. She had two of her own, and eventually had ten grandchildren to love! What a blessing! She even taught Sunday school for a while then worked in the nursery in order to be around children because none of her grandchildren lived close enough to drive to for a visit. She had written songs and poems for years but eventually started writing poems and stories that were for the children-stories that they may have inspired or were inspired by the Holy Spirit within her to write. Patrick the Penguin was the first story to surface. Patrick is a happy-go-lucky penguin who enjoys his arctic life: nice igloo, lots of friends, plenty of fish to eat. The snowbirds visit him frequently, singing their songs and flying in circles around him. But one day, Patrick became very sad because he could not fly like the birds. He tried his best to fly, but it always ended in a flop to the ice. As he is crying big penguin tears, a wise old penguin approached and set him straight: the Creator made penguins by special design for a special reason, just as every being is made. Patrick decides to accept himself as he is and to be happy about it. When he does that, he likes himself and enjoys what he can do. He even becomes a movie star in a penguin movie!

Yours Ever written by Thomas Mallon and has been published by Vintage this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-11-10 with Literary Collections categories.

A delightful investigation of the art of letter writing, Yours Ever explores masterpieces dispatched through the ages by messenger, postal service, and BlackBerry. Here are Madame de Sévigné’s devastatingly sharp reports from the French court, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s tormented advice to his young daughter, the casually brilliant musings of Flannery O’Connor, the lustful boastings of Lord Byron, and the prison cries of Sacco and Vanzetti, all accompanied by Thomas Mallon’s own insightful commentary. From battlefield confessions to suicide notes, fan letters to hate mail, Yours Ever is an exuberant reintroduction to a vast and entertaining literature—a book that will help to revive, in the digital age, this glorious lost art.

Siegfried Sassoon written by Patrick Campbell and has been published by McFarland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-08-13 with Literary Criticism categories.

Though Siegfried Sassoon would argue the point throughout his life, most critics regard his war poetry, written during World War I, as the best of his writings. Like many of his artistic contemporaries, Sassoon embraced the "Great War for Civilization" with great fervor, and it was this passion that he brought to his earliest writings about the war. "Absolution," his first war poem, published in 1915, summed up his feelings: "fighting for our freedom, we are free." Fighting on the frontlines, Sassoon soon came to the conviction that his war for civilization was anything but civilized. And thus his writings took on a new tone, courageously denouncing a conflict that was no longer about "defense and liberation" but was for "aggression and conquest." Through primary documents and extensive research, the current work provides critical analyses of Sassoon's war poetry. Detailed examinations of each of the so-called trench poems show how the poet and his poetry were transformed through his wartime experiences and give the rationale for the critical consensus that the Sassoon canon is among the most significant in the literature of modern warfare.
