The Palgrave Handbook of Feminist, Queer and Trans* Narrative Studies provides a comprehensive overview of the intersection between narrative theory and feminist, queer and trans* theory. Bringing together eminent and emerging scholars from a range of disciplines, it foregrounds connections between new views on gender and recent developments in narratology. The first section outlines key concepts for the study of narrative and gender and features theory-oriented chapters on what it means for the study of narrative to go beyond gender binaries. The middle sections cover some of the currently most influential fields of narratology and literary theory: cognitive and eco-narratology, postcolonial studies, as well as concepts that are central to both narrative and gender studies, such as affect and performativity. The last section explores the meaning of gender in various genres and media formats, from science fiction and trans* autobiographies to film, TV and social media. This field-changing volume shows how the proliferation of new ways to think about gender identity and sexuality demands a strong reconsideration of narratological methodologies. The Palgrave Handbook Of Queer And Trans Feminisms In Contemporary Performance written by Tiina Rosenberg and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-21 with Performing Arts categories.
The purpose of this Handbook is to provide students with an overview of key developments in queer and trans feminist theories and their significance to the field of contemporary performance studies. It presents new insights highlighting the ways in which rigid or punishing notions of gender, sexuality and race continue to flourish in systems of knowledge, faith and power which are relevant to a new generation of queer and trans feminist performers today. The guiding question for the Handbook is: How do queer and trans feminist theories enhance our understanding of developments in feminist performance today, and will this discussion give rise to new ways of theorizing contemporary performance? As such, the volume will survey a new generation of performers and theorists, as well as senior scholars, who engage and redefine the limits of performance. The chapters will demonstrate how intersectional, queer and trans feminist theoretical tools support new analyses of performance with a global focus. The primary audience will be students of theatre/ performance studies as well as queer /gender studies. The volume’s contents suggest close links between the formation of queer feminist identities alongside recent key political developments with transnational resonances. Furthermore, the emergence of new queer and trans feminist epistemologies prompts a reorientation regarding performance and identities in a 21st-century context.

This volume provides a comprehensive account of how scholarship on affect and scholarship on texts have come to inform one another over the past few decades. The result has been that explorations of how texts address, elicit, shape, and dramatize affect have become central to contemporary work in literary, film, and art criticism, as well as in critical theory, rhetoric, performance studies, and aesthetics. Guiding readers to the variety of topics, themes, interdisciplinary dialogues, and sub-disciplinary specialties that the study of interplay between affect and texts has either inaugurated or revitalized, the handbook showcases and engages the diversity of scholarly topics, approaches, and projects that thinking of affect in relation to texts and related media open up or enable. These include (but are not limited to) investigations of what attention to affect brings to established methods of studying texts—in terms of period, genre, cultural contexts, rhetoric, and individual authorship.

Queering Russian Media And Culture written by Galina Miazhevich and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-27 with Social Science categories.
This book explores how queerness and representations of queerness in media and culture are responding to the shifting socio-political, cultural and legal conditions in post-Soviet Russia, especially in the light of the so-called ‘antigay’ law of 2013. Based on extensive original research, the book outlines developments historically both before and after the fall of the Soviet Union and provides the background to the 2013 law. It discusses the proliferating alternative visions of gender and sexuality, which are increasingly prevalent in contemporary Russia. The book considers how these are represented in film, personal diaries, photography, theatre, protest art, fashion and creative industries, web series, news media and how they relate to the ‘traditional values’ rhetoric. Overall, the book provides a rich and detailed, yet complex insight into the developing nature of queerness in contemporary Russia.
