Owen McMahon Johnson's 'The Wasted Generation' meticulously examines the odyssey of self-discovery within the context of monumental historical upheaval. In his portrayal of David Littledale, an American expatriate entrenched in the hedonism of France's privileged class pre-World War I, Johnson captures the dissonance between frivolous pre-war indulgence and the sobering realities of conflict. This novel, steeped in the philosophical reverberations of a world at a crossroads, distinguishes itself with a narrative that is as contemplative as it is a pointed critique of a society teetering on the brink of transformation. With a prose that conveys both the decadence of the era and the starkness of war, Johnson provides a unique literary window into a generation's existential reckoning. Johnson, an American author, drew from his personal observations of society and the changing tides of cultural values to inform his writings. His characters often reflect a deep disenchantment with their historical moment, mirroring the disillusionment that followed the Great War. 'The Wasted Generation' can be seen as Johnson's intimate understanding and commentary on the period's zeitgeist, encapsulating the perplexing journey from innocence to maturation against the backdrop of a world losing its youthful gleam to the grimness of war. Scholars and general readers alike will discover in Johnson's 'The Wasted Generation' a compelling portrait of a man, and by extension a society, grappling with the profound dislocations brought about by war. It is an essential read for those interested in the literary depictions of the early 20th-century zeitgeist and the universally relatable journey towards finding meaning amidst chaos. Johnson's novel remains not only a sober reflection on a critical historical moment but also a timeless meditation on the human condition and the quest for identity in a rapidly changing world.

HIV/AIDS: Political Will and Hope, demonstrates that the scourge of the AIDS, flourishes within the weaknesses of the Nigerian state and in the deficiencies of socio-cultural, economic and political constructs. The abovementioned structures have nurtured a culture and politics of neglect, inequalities and marginalisation of disempowered and subordinated children, men and more especially women. These disease-prone circumstances expose human behavioural weaknesses and the limitations in the government structures as well as poor implementation of policies especially within the health care sector. The result is the inefficiencies, insufficiencies and inadequacies in the HIV/AIDS preventive as well as care and support programmes. It therefore makes clear that for the Nigerian state to prove itself in the present scourge of AIDS, it would have to exert all its political will in order to construct a proper caring responsibility as a basic attitude for her citizenry in general and for her overwhelming HIV/AIDS patients in particular. This is a challenge to a health-care reform and an adequate caring responsibility for people living with AIDS. To do this effectively, this book recommends a few steps.

Poverty And The Church In Igboland Nigeria written by Anthony Okwudili Achunonu and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Poetry categories.

The main objective of this book is to re-evaluate the true meaning of the term poverty' in the world as a whole and in Nigeria in particular. From a sociological point of view, poverty is the natural consequence of economic inequity amongst social groups, a type of inequity often generated by the inability of the political class to provide and maintain basic amenities in the society. This book highlights so many complex reasons that are responsible for this type of inability, prominent amongst them being mismanagement of funds in most political setups. Our investigation from this book shows that there's a great difference between the various forms of poverty in western countries and in other countries of the world. Poverty may be caused by individual, social, cultural, ethical and moral issues. These various causes of poverty are often correlated. In Nigeria, poverty is mainly caused by lack of moral sensitivities amongst political leaders and by lack of initiatives for cultural, social and economic empowerment of the less privileged. Most striking is the fact that there is no basic well-established governmental structure meant to assist those who languish in poverty. This book discusses the real-life situation of those who suffer and are living in abject poverty. The book also discusses proposals that can help improve their condition. In line with this, the effective contributions the church can make in order to fight poverty will be taken into consideration. In fact, it is not enough for the church to know that the situation of long-term injustice in Nigeria is crippling the country; rather, she has also to live up to her mission vis-à-vis the poor and the marginalised who are living in the country.

Revelations is one of the most misunderstood part of the Bible. Most people look at the hundreds of images and symbols within it and try to explain it by taking these images and symbols literally. Also people read these images and symbols in sequence from first to last - this is not correct. These images and symbols re structured into 4 scenes. Each scene is a time. These times are the link to understanding the code of the Bible. These four scenes are better understood as Genesis, Moses and the Old Testament, Jesus until today and What will be in the future. This book takes a deeper look at the reality of life as the spirit of mankind evolves form one time to the next and as we evolve from the darkness of the past into a light and bright reality as people learn to forgive one another.
