Learn idiomatic, efficient, clean, and extensible Go design and concurrency patterns by using TDD About This Book A highly practical guide filled with numerous examples unleashing the power of design patterns with Go. Discover an introduction of the CSP concurrency model by explaining GoRoutines and channels. Get a full explanation, including comprehensive text and examples, of all known GoF design patterns in Go. Who This Book Is For The target audience is both beginner- and advanced-level developers in the Go programming language. No knowledge of design patterns is expected. What You Will Learn All basic syntax and tools needed to start coding in Go Encapsulate the creation of complex objects in an idiomatic way in Go Create unique instances that cannot be duplicated within a program Understand the importance of object encapsulation to provide clarity and maintainability Prepare cost-effective actions so that different parts of the program aren't affected by expensive tasks Deal with channels and GoRoutines within the Go context to build concurrent application in Go in an idiomatic way In Detail Go is a multi-paradigm programming language that has built-in facilities to create concurrent applications. Design patterns allow developers to efficiently address common problems faced during developing applications. Go Design Patterns will provide readers with a reference point to software design patterns and CSP concurrency design patterns to help them build applications in a more idiomatic, robust, and convenient way in Go. The book starts with a brief introduction to Go programming essentials and quickly moves on to explain the idea behind the creation of design patterns and how they appeared in the 90's as a common "language" between developers to solve common tasks in object-oriented programming languages. You will then learn how to apply the 23 Gang of Four (GoF) design patterns in Go and also learn about CSP concurrency patterns, the "killer feature" in Go that has helped Google develop software to maintain thousands of servers. With all of this the book will enable you to understand and apply design patterns in an idiomatic way that will produce concise, readable, and maintainable software. Style and approach This book will teach widely used design patterns and best practices with Go in a step-by-step manner. The code will have detailed examples, to allow programmers to apply design patterns in their day-to-day coding.

Recently, the field of pattern language has been developing in various domains. Patterns are usually expressed in sentences, along with a visual expression. One of these expressions is called a "pattern illustration" because it expresses the essence of the pattern, includes characters that express human movements and feelings, and symbolically represents a pattern that does not connect multiple scenes with arrows. Pattern illustration describes the pattern's primary content, and this helps readers understand and memorize the pattern and also motivates them to use it. But our question here is "How can we draw these pattern illustrations?" In this book, Pattern Illustrating Patterns, we have collected 28 patterns on how and what to draw and what aspects must be considered when creating pattern illustrations. We hope this book will stimulate further understanding about including pattern illustration as an approach to visual aid by those considering or creating pattern languages.

A British Anarchist Tradition focuses on three contemporary British theorists and practitioners, Herbert Read, Colin Ward, and Alex Comfort and looks at their interrelation, commonality, and collective influence on British radical thought. The book aims to foster a greater understanding of anarchism as an intellectual response to 20th century developments and its impact on political thought and movements. For the first time, the work of these three writers is presented as a tradition, highlighting the consistency of their themes and concerns. To do so, the book shows how they addressed the problems faced by modern British society, with clear lines of political, literary, and intellectual traditions linking them. It also focuses on their contribution to the development of anarchist conceptions of freedom in the twentieth century. A British Anarchist Tradition identifies an area of anarchism that deserves greater critical, scholarly attention. Its unique and thorough research will make it a valuable resource for anyone interested in contemporary anarchist thought, political theory, and political movements.

Does the idea of Biblical Prophecy seem ... well, laughingly absurd, galactically improbable? Good! It's supposed to seem that way. In fact, for Biblical prophecy to work properly, its readers have to be highly skeptical. Biblical prophecy requires, even promotes uber-skepticism at times to evoke the intended response in its readers. The credibility of its message, that its words were authored by God, gains increased potency as the highly improbable happens again and again. When the absurdly improbable actually occurs, over and over, in documented, historically verifiable situations, our fundamental assumptions are challenged. We are confronted with the possibility that, on a truly foundational level, everything we thought we knew may really be wrong or radically incomplete. That's what Biblical prophecy is about on a macro level. That's its big idea. Biblical prophecies also seek to warn about particularly important slices of future history. Not because that future can be changed, but so it can be met with integrity and intact faith. This book is obviously focused on those Biblical prophecies involving the Antichrist's rise to power. By using careful time honored traditional methods of Biblical investigation, we'll have a serious and sober look at what the Scriptures really say about this future world ruler. There are also some new discoveries that many would find surprising, even shocking. Now, that's a lot to swallow all at once. That the future is knowable on some level, and that it's going to be so horrible. Why would anyone want to believe this could happen? Deep down, I don't want to believe it. It's so much easier to reject it, than to allow it to threaten your whole frame of reference. That tug of war, that vague unease, that's supposed to happen too. It's Biblical prophecy doing its thing. It takes a lot of guts to consider ideas that have the power to explode your comfortable world view. If you decide to read this book, remember, it's ok to be skeptical. It's absolutely required for a healthy mind. But resist the awful temptation to reject out-of-hand. Aside from being an addictive and lazy habit, it just may deprive you someday of knowing that wonderful excruciating panic of having your mind blown open.

The first volume of the POSA pattern series introduced a broad-spectrum of general-purpose patterns in software design and architecture. The second narrowed the focus to fundamental patterns for building sophisticated concurrent and networked software systems and applications. This volume uses design patterns to present techniques for implementing effective resource management in a system. The patterns are covered in detail making use of several examples providing directions to the readers on how to implement the presented patterns. Additionally, the volume presents a thorough introduction into resource management and a case study where the patterns are applied to the domain of mobile radio networks. The patterns are grouped by different areas of resource management and hence address the complete lifecycle of resources: resource acquisition, coordination and release.

Architect/designer Fumio Kajiwara and pattern language expert Takashi Iba bring to life 32 patterns crucial to creating and managing innovative projects. "Project Design Patterns" is a unique guide for producers, project managers, entrepreneurs, and anyone involved in managing complex projects. This book is a compilation of project design knowledge based on Fumio Kajiwara (architect/designer/chairman of UDS Ltd.) and his years of experience leading various renowned spatial design projects in Asia. His know-hows are outlined by Takashi Iba (Professor at Keio University) using the "pattern language" method, a way of organizing/sharing practical knowledge. This book is the first case in which the pattern language method, originally invented by architect Christopher Alexander, is used in the context of project design. Through this collaboration, "Project Design Patterns" provides approachable but profound hints that help demystify the difficulty of carrying out innovative projects.
