Hitler rose from corporal to die Fuhrer. "Dubya" from deserter to Commander-in-Chief. Both ruled by lies and propaganda -- Hitler's Goebbels. Bush's Rove. Both were fanatic Conservatives who rammed their credo down the throats of their citizenry, and both Hitler and Bush, became counterfeit Presidents, who torched the democratic institutions which elected them, and then launched bogus wars to subvert dissent into a failure to support the troops. Yet, while both Hitler's and Dubya's heinous havoc found mitigation in their personality disorders, the collusion by American medias in the Neo-Nazi Conservative coup of the United States reeks as the villainy of villainies.

Our government has always maintained a certain level of secrecy when it comes to the internal workings of its organization. In the past our government has closed their eyes to certain actions by the CIA, FBI, and others. We as a people, along with the government, justified these actions with the thought of necessity in order to protect the freedom of this country. These actions we believed to be for the greater good of all people. However, when the government steps over the line and commits unlawful acts only for the greater good of a few people, the necessity can no longer be looked at as justified. This book is intended to have the reader attempt to answer the unanswered questions. It is written as though it were a trial. In a normal trial the prosecution would present its case first, and then the defense would present its case. By law the defendant is innocent until proven guilty. This is a case of "You, the people of the United States vs. the Bush Administration." There are many defendants in this case, most notable being president George W. Bush. For the past four years, the Bush administration has put its case to the people of this country for its actions within our borders and around the world. The Bush administration has placed many items into evidence, called many witnesses, and has asked you, the people of the United States, to trust them without question. The Bush administration, or the defense, rested its case with the reelection of President Bush. Now, it is time for the prosecution to present its case. I am not going to ask you to do any more than look at the case from both sides. If you need to refer back to the defense's case, or testimony, you will be able to review many speeches and addresses by President Bush and members of his administration, which will be placed into evidence. What I am asking you to do is use your common sense. At the end of this case, many questions will be asked. Answer those questions, and then you decide the guilt or innocence of the defendants. You are the jury. It is up to you to decide the fate of this country and those beyond our borders. No man is above the law, even if that man is the President of the United States.

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this powerful new collection of oil paintings and stories, President George W. Bush spotlights the inspiring journeys of America’s immigrants and the contributions they make to the life and prosperity of our nation. The issue of immigration stirs intense emotions today, as it has throughout much of American history. But what gets lost in the debates about policy are the stories of immigrants themselves, the people who are drawn to America by its promise of economic opportunity and political and religious freedom—and who strengthen our nation in countless ways. In the tradition of Portraits of Courage, President Bush’s #1 New York Times bestseller, Out of Many, One brings together forty-three full-color portraits of men and women who have immigrated to the United States, alongside stirring stories of the unique ways all of them are pursuing the American Dream. Featuring men and women from thirty-five countries and nearly every region of the world, Out of Many, One shows how hard work, strong values, dreams, and determination know no borders or boundaries and how immigrants embody values that are often viewed as distinctly American: optimism and gratitude, a willingness to strive and to risk, a deep sense of patriotism, and a spirit of self-reliance that runs deep in our immigrant heritage. In these pages, we meet a North Korean refugee fighting for human rights, a Dallas-based CEO who crossed the Rio Grande from Mexico at age seventeen, and a NASA engineer who as a girl in Nigeria dreamed of coming to America, along with notable figures from business, the military, sports, and entertainment. President Bush captures their faces and stories in striking detail, bringing depth to our understanding of who immigrants are, the challenges they face on their paths to citizenship, and the lessons they can teach us about our country’s character. As the stories unfold in this vibrant book, readers will gain a better appreciation for the humanity behind one of our most pressing policy issues and the countless ways in which America, through its tradition of welcoming newcomers, has been strengthened by those who have come here in search of a better life.

A century after Appomattox, the civil rights movement won full citizenship for black Americans in the South. It should not have been necessary: by 1870 those rights were set in the Constitution. This is the story of the terrorist campaign that took them away. Nicholas Lemann opens his extraordinary new book with a riveting account of the horrific events of Easter 1873 in Colfax, Louisiana, where a white militia of Confederate veterans-turned-vigilantes attacked the black community there and massacred hundreds of people in a gruesome killing spree. This was the start of an insurgency that changed the course of American history: for the next few years white Southern Democrats waged a campaign of political terrorism aiming to overturn the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments and challenge President Grant'ssupport for the emergent structures of black political power. The remorseless strategy of well-financed "White Line" organizations was to create chaos and keep blacks from voting out of fear for their lives and livelihoods. Redemption is the first book to describe in uncompromising detail this organized racial violence, which reached its apogee in Mississippi in 1875. Lemann bases his devastating account on a wealth of military records, congressional investigations, memoirs, press reports, and the invaluable papers of Adelbert Ames, the war hero from Maine who was Mississippi's governor at the time. When Ames pleaded with Grant for federal troops who could thwart the white terrorists violently disrupting Republican political activities, Grant wavered, and the result was a bloody, corrupt election in which Mississippi was "redeemed"—that is, returned to white control. Redemption makes clear that this is what led to the death of Reconstruction—and of the rights encoded in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. We are still living with the consequences.

THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL POLITICAL NOVEL IN AMERICA Following the worst terrorist attacks in American history on September 11, 2001, President George W. Bush pledged to bring those responsible to justice, especially the mastermind behind it all, Osama bin Laden. After failing to capture bin Laden in Afghanistan, George W. Bush shifted his attention and that of our country to Saddam Hussein and Iraq, neither of which had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks (as history has proven). Bush, Jr., wanted a war in Iraq, and with the help of others in his administration, he succeeded in waging one regardless of its price in human lives or expense to his country's treasury. George W. Bush’s Iraq War lasted eight and a half years, killed tens of thousands of people, and cost the United States trillions of dollars. In Terry Jastrow’s new novel, The Trial of George W. Bush, past evil deeds are exposed and reckoned with in a most unexpected way. At a time when America’s political leadership has alienated itself from the rest of the world, the scales of justice respond in a trial at the International Criminal Court in which former President George W. Bush is accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity. This fascinating trial brings together eyewitness testimony from a former Secretary of State, the Commander of US Central Command who oversaw military operations, an American counterterrorism expert, and a female Iraqi blogger, who reads from the blogs she wrote while Bush’s war was destroying her country. As the trial ends after weeks of contentious statements and nonstop coverage by an overzealous media, a captivated worldwide public awaits the determination of Bush’s fate. Will he be found guilty or not? The surprising verdict is revealed in Terry Jastrow’s new novel, The Trial of George W. Bush.

"I can only speak to myself." True -- and yet we must listen. Sometimes his accidental wit speaks louder than any prepared statement. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." "I always jest to people, the Oval Office is the kind of place where people stand outside, they're getting ready to come in and tell me what for, and they walk in and get overwhelmed by the atmosphere. And they say, 'Man, you're looking pretty.'" "I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein." Thanks to the faithful work of Jacob Weisberg, the wisdom of George W. Bush -- America's Malapropist in Chief -- has been carefully preserved for the ages in annual editions. Now that the president is armed with a new (and unprecedented!) popular electoral victory, America can breathe a sigh of relief -- or, as the president once put it, we can "thank our blessings." The language experiments will continue. Stand-up comedians will enjoy full employment. With George W. Bushisms V, the second term truly begins.
