If there is a person who can teach you how to define and create your personal brand, that person is master marketer Jim Joseph. The bestselling author of The Experience Effect has now turned his attention to building that most precious of all brands -- you. In an economy where so many people are struggling, trying to recreate themselves and build new skillsets, the value of a personal brand becomes paramount. As we market ourselves for new careers or take ourselves in new directions, we need to think of ourselves as a brand. What are we projecting? How do those qualities, traits or experiences that we project create a brand that works for us? In other words, how do we create a Personal Experience Effect? Peppered with relevant examples, the book defines what it means to be a brand. The choices we make, their rational and emotional components, the energy we expend towards their projection...all these and more go into creating our personal brands. How do we keep it all conscious and consistent? A personal brand, like any good brand, needs to be consciously managed and controlled. Occasionally, as with corporate brands, a measure of fire-fighting may be required. This book shows us the what, the why and the how. The Personal Experience Effect is not only about big picture strategy. Practical details are discussed too. For example, an entire section is dedicated to creating the perfect elevator pitch. How can a personal brand work not just for today but into the future? Can a personal brand be enhanced over time? What measures of circumspection are required in our digital age, when memories can remain online long after they've been erased in our minds? The author shares this and more, honestly and caringly, narrating personal experiences as well as discussing celebrity brands. With inspiring examples and attention to detail, The Personal Experience Effect shows you how to win support to define, build, and nurture your personal brand. Jim Joseph's eminently readable book helps you Be Who You Want To Be.

The Metoo Effect written by Leigh Gilmore and has been published by Columbia University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-04-25 with Social Science categories.

The #MeToo movement inspired millions to testify to the widespread experience of sexual violence. More broadly, it shifted the deeply ingrained response to women’s accounts of sexual violence from doubting all of them to believing some of them. What changed? Leigh Gilmore provides a new account of #MeToo that reveals how storytelling by survivors propelled the call for sexual justice beyond courts and high-profile cases. At a time when the cultural conversation was fixated on appeals to legal and bureaucratic systems, narrative activism—storytelling in the service of social change—elevated survivors as authorities. Their testimony fused credibility and accountability into the #MeToo effect: uniting millions of separate accounts into an existential demand for sexual justice and the right to be heard. Gilmore reframes #MeToo as a breakthrough moment within a longer history of feminist thought and activism. She analyzes the centrality of autobiographical storytelling in intersectional and antirape activism and traces how literary representations of sexual violence dating from antiquity intertwine with cultural notions of doubt, obligation, and agency. By focusing on the intersectional prehistory of #MeToo, Gilmore sheds light on how survivors have used narrative to frame sexual violence as an urgent problem requiring structural solutions in diverse global contexts. Considering the roles of literature and literary criticism in movements for social change, The #MeToo Effect demonstrates how “reading like a survivor” provides resources for activism.

Practicing Writing written by Thomas M. Masters and has been published by University of Pittsburgh Pre this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-10-24 with Education categories.

Practicing Writing examines a pivotal era in the history of the most ubiquitous-and possibly most problematic-course in North American colleges and universities: the requireAd first-year writing course generally known as "freshman English." Thomas Masters's focus is the mid-twentieth century, beginning with the returning waves of World War II veterans attending college on the GI Bill. He then traces the education reforms that took place in the late 1950s after the launch of Sputnik and the establishment of composition as a separate discipline in 1963. This study draws upon archives at three midwestern schools that reflect a range of higher education options: Wheaton, a small, sectarian liberal arts college; Northwestern, a large private university; and Illinois, a large public university.Practicing Writing gives voice to those whose work is often taken for granted or forgotten in other studies of the subject: freshman English students and their instructors. Masters examines students' papers, professors' letters, and course descriptions, and draws upon interviews conducted with teachers to present the practitioners' points of view.Unlike other studies of the subject, which have tended to focus more on the philosophy, theory, and ideology of teaching composition and rhetoric, Masters reveals freshman English to be a practice-based phenomenon with a durable ideological apparatus. By reexamining texts that had previously been considered insignificant, he reveals the substance of first-year composition courses and the reasons for their durability.

'This book provides a valuable addition to the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) literature. While the volume addresses several good examples of "how to" case studies it also firmly addresses the importance of the need for firm conceptual and theoretical guidelines for SIA practice. . . the volume is an excellent contribution to the SIA literature and I highly recommend it to both practitioner and researcher alike.' – Geoff Syme, Australasian Journal of Environmental Management 'An innovative collection which takes social impact assessment to the frontiers of environmental and social policy and citizen awareness. Unusually, this collection includes both sophisticated quantitative tools and equally important chapters on participation, stakeholder involvement and environmental mediation. A most valuable source book.' – Michael Redclift, King's College, London, UK Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is the process of analysing and managing the intended and unintended consequences on the human environment of planned interventions (policies, programmes, plans, projects) so as to bring about a more sustainable and equitable biophysical and human environment. This important Handbook presents an indispensable overview of the range of new methods and of the conceptual advances in SIA. Recent increased attention to social considerations has led to substantial development in the techniques useful to, and the thinking in, SIA. A distinguished group of contributors provides an up-to-date and comprehensive account of the cutting-edge in SIA development. This Handbook outlines a new understanding and definition of SIA and, as such, will be an invaluable reference tool for both practitioners and scholars at different levels working in the fields of SIA and environmental studies (including both impact assessment and management).
