What is it like to meet God, to converse with him about the most important questions of human life, and then to have union with him? What is it like for a finite being to stand in the presence of the infinite being? James Amore, a philosopher, is in quest of God. This quest originated from a strong desire to have union with the sun of all suns: God. This desire took hold of his heart and mind when he was a young man; it grew and developed into an overwhelming passion when he became an adult. Relying on information he received from his grandmother, who was a clandestine mystic, he decided to meet God on the Peakless Mountain. After twelve days of ascent, which was dangerous and exposed him to death a few times, he met God. To his surprise, God speaks, and he spoke to him in English. He had a two-day conversation with him, and then he declared to God that he would not leave until he had union with him. God warned him against this request, but James Amore was determined to sit in his lap and listen to the music of his heartbeats. Well, God granted him his wish. We do not know how long this union lasted, but we know that when James emerged from it, he was an old man and a deaf flute player! We meet him playing his flute at St. John the Divine, a cathedral in Jackson, Tennessee.

Growing up, children and teenagers have parents to protect and guide, but many become rebellious against parents and societal rules. At adulthood, many are lost in who or what to trust; most rely on immature feelings or judgment to make major life decisions. Consequently, many lives drift from one predicament to another, and most do not know why they keep encountering similar failures. From youth to old age, people need God to be at side to help make major life decisions, to choose a soul mate or partner, and to grow spirituality. Specifically, God can help to mend character flaws, boost merits, and improve personal judgment. This is the first book to guide people in receiving God's consent to communicate with him directly and some basics of such communication. Faith or religion not required to communicate.

A Philosopher Looks At Jesus written by Edward J. Machle and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-03-01 with Religion categories.
This book is the response to a lifetime of questions raised by fellow philosophers, by students, and by the author's own wrestlings. Since the author claims that Jesus's importance goes beyond his being just a moral teacher, Edward Machle discusses the difference between the foundations of philosophy and of theology, and how the disciplines of philosophy and theology use language differently. Then Machle goes on to present his somewhat unorthodox evaluations of the four gospels and their relevance--rejecting, for instance, claims of a "Q" document, and dating Matthew later than Luke. Since any account of Jesus must assume that before Jesus appears in the records, he had a distinctive development, two admittedly fictional narratives follow, preparing for distinctive emphases in the author's later discussions of frequently met problems about Jesus's birth, miracles, aims, and death. Machle lays unusual emphasis on the centrality of the title "Son of Man" for Jesus. Extensive discussions of the resurrection narratives and questions about them follow, leading to a unique treatment of John's Prologue. The last three chapters deal with Jesus's relation to modern belief and life.

Karl Barth addressed all the major themes of dogmatic theology, and in so doing made his own distinctive contribution to each of the ongoing conversations that constitute that theology. This book presents important new 'conversations with Barth' by leading contemporary theologians and Barth scholars. Each contributor offers their own distinctive emphasis to bring to light the ways in which the depths of Barth's work may illuminate or be illuminated by the work of other prominent thinkers who preceded or followed him. The conversations they host between Barth and other philosophers and theologians raise critical questions in the reading and appreciation of Barth's thought, and explore a wide range of themes in dogmatic theology. This book not only adds to the comprehension of the riches of Barth's theology but also presents an important contribution to the ongoing conversations and debates alive in theology today. Contributors: Nicholas Lash, John Webster, Timothy Gorringe, Graham Ward, George Hunsinger, Ben Quash, Mike Higton, John McDowell, Eugene Rogers, Katherine Sonderegger, David Clough, David Ford.

Divine meditation on the word of God is a lost art and science in the spiritual disciplines. Christians are often content to read a little and pray a little. They often have little to no strategy for godly meditation. This is where William Bridge will come in. He will not only show the work and way of divine meditation, but he will initially set forth its sweetness. He teaches that this spiritual discipline is the Christian’s daily way of exercising himself in godliness and walking with God, and that such a walk is sweet. This walking is a picture of persistent communion with Jesus Christ, and is eminently sweet in its applications to the soul. Bridge’s main text is, “My meditation of him shall be sweet,” (Psalm 104:34), setting forth the doctrine that it is a sweet thing for a gracious soul to meditate on God. He shows the true nature and notion of meditation, how and in what respects a man may meditate on God, and how it is that meditation is a sweet thing, and profitable for the Christian. In his second part, in the work and manner which godly meditation ought to be accomplished, he answers some objections. He demonstrates that it is the Christian’s duty to meditate on God and the things of God, that it is a duty for every day, how to rightly meditate to make it profitable (with some rules to that end) and then concludes with arguments and motives to press all Christians to the regular and consistent practice of godly meditation. This work is not a scan or facsimile, and has been updated in modern English for easy reading. It also has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

The Routledge Handbook Of Early Christian Philosophy written by Mark Edwards and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-29 with Education categories.
This volume offers the most comprehensive survey available of the philosophical background to the works of early Christian writers and the development of early Christian doctrine. It examines how the same philosophical questions were approached by Christian and pagan thinkers; the philosophical element in Christian doctrines; the interaction of particular philosophies with Christian thought; and the constructive use of existing philosophies by all Christian thinkers of late antiquity. While most studies of ancient Christian writers and the development of early Christian doctrine make some reference to the philosophic background, this is often of an anecdotal character, and does not enable the reader to determine whether the likenesses are deep or superficial, or how pervasively one particular philosopher may have influenced Christian thought. This volume is designed to provide not only a body of facts more compendious than can be found elsewhere, but the contextual information which will enable readers to judge or clarify the statements that they encounter in works of more limited scope. With contributions by an international group of experts in both philosophy and Christian thought, this is an invaluable resource for scholars of early Christianity, Late Antiquity and ancient philosophy alike.
