In 1962, author Kathleen Rawlings Buntin and her husband, Carmon, got married for all the right reasons. She liked his eyes, he liked the way she looked in a sweater, and they both liked tacos. In The Pig in the Kitchen, Buntin narrates how she married a modern-day Huckleberry Finn, a man who was perpetually twelve going on forty-two. She tells how she, as a city girl, spent most of her life on a minifarm in Arizona. Sharing stories from twenty years of her life in a veritable petting zoo, Buntin introduces Tanya, the gun-shy bird dog; Dot, the tail-swatting milk cow; Arnold, the pig in the kitchen; and dozens of other animals, domesticated and otherwise. Erma Bombeck once said, There is a thin line that separates laughter and pain, comedy and tragedy, humor and hurt. The Pig in the Kitchen walks that thin line with compassion and grace and a lot more humor than hurt as one family experiences twenty years of love, laughter, and animals.

Chesham, a small market town in the valley of the River Chess between the beech-clad Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, has a long history of light craft industry based on locally produced raw materials. Early development had been confined to the floor of the valley, resulting in a very long, narrow town through which the High Street and its continuation was the only main road, carrying all local and any through traffic. The recent need to accommodate more through traffic required drastic treatment; as the narrow confines of the valley prevented any bypass for the town centre, the only solution was an inner relief road, construction of which involved demolition of some of the older parts of the town. This little volume illustrates, by sequences of photographs of selected features, how Chesham changed through the twentieth century.

Unlikely pig owners Steve and Derek got a whole lot more than they bargained for when the designer micro piglet they adopted turned out to be a full-sized 600-pound sow! This funny, inspirational story shows how families really do come in all shapes and sizes. In the summer of 2012, Steve Jenkins was contacted by an old friend about adopting a micro piglet. Though he knew his partner Derek wouldn't be enthusiastic, he agreed to take the adorable little pig anyway, thinking he could care for her himself. Little did he know, that decision would change his and Derek's lives forever. It turned out there was nothing "micro" about Esther, and Steve and Derek had actually signed on to raise a full-sized commercial pig. Within three years, Tiny Esther grew to a whopping 600 pounds. After some real growing pains and a lot of pig-sized messes, it became clear that Esther needed much more space, so Steve and Derek made another life-changing decision: they bought a farm and opened the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, where they could care for Esther and other animals in need. Funny, heartwarming, and utterly charming, Esther the Wonder Pig follows Steve and Derek's adventure--from reluctant pig parents to farm-owning advocates for animals.
