The Play of Emotion and Fantasy is the book about the arts of the in Finland living Dutch Visual Artist and Interior Architect Willem Krijgsman (born in 1953, Delft). The book contains a large collection of his early artworks. In the form of two separate, interesting interviews, he takes the reader with him by showing his works through many fantastic colour photos and pictures. He explains his process of creation and artistic developments. He is showing us, how he goes from paper collages to assemblages, from assemblages via junk art into drawing, followed by his later discovery of clay, that developed into love for modelling clay. In this rich, with photographs and drawings, illustrated book Krijgsman shows his love for the arts in general. Making art, by discovering and researching art forms, is his most important motivation. He wants, that his book of arts is working as if being in an exhibition situation. The reader can go through different stages of his artistic creations. Explanations and names under the pictures, if so, are kept to a minimum, not to disturb the viewer’s own interpretation. The artist, living in Finland since 1981, has held many solo exhibitions in his home country, especially in Helsinki and Vantaa. He has also taken part in many group exhibitions and gained publicity. Though not internationally known, his wonderful artworks are very much on the level and worthwhile exploring. They show a really motivated, talented and sincere visual artist at work. Willem Krijgsman has published in Finnish, in 2023, the book “Fifty-Fifty” (BoD, ISBN: 978-952-80-9321-3) telling his integration process into the Finnish society via intertextual collages using e.g. paintings from Golden Age of Finnish Art.

Much of Intricate Emotion is based on the key word, as I would call it....fidelity. To some of you, this may be a new word or a word that you are unclear of what the exact meaning actually is. I will give you a hand with the meaning. Fidelity is the quality or state of being faithful. Now the secondary definition is as follows.....The attention to accuracy in details. There you go. That explains it! But this book also covers the huge exciting subject matter of fantasy. Sounds cools, huh? But, what exactly does it mean. I suppose If I were to ask that question to 20 people, I might just get 20 different answers. According to my reputable source being this here old dictionary, it says accordingly that fantasy is the free play of creative imagination. So, let your spirits run wild! Never....I repeat....NEVER SHOULD YOU STOP DREAMING! I hope that you enjoy the fantasy based poems in this book and I hope that they may help to positively inspire EVEN you! The last item in Intricate Emotion would have to be the section non chronologically ordered about fiction. Now, I would estimate that most of you know what fiction is. Right? If not here goes with an explanation. Fiction is, well, nothing more than something created and or made up. There you have it. In the 1990s it is no longer "news" that families do not operate independently from other social organizations and institutions. Instead, it is generally recognized that families are embedded in a complex set of relationships with other institutions and contexts outside the family. In spite of this recognition, a great deal remains to be discovered about the ways in which families are influenced by these outside agencies or how families influence the functioning of children and adults in these extra-familial settings--school, work, day-care, or peer group contexts. Moreover, little is known about the nature of the processes that account for this mutual influence between families and other societal institutions and settings. The goal of this volume is to present examples from a series of ongoing research programs that are beginning to provide some tentative answers to these questions. The result of a summer workshop characterized by lively exchanges not only between speakers and the audience, but among participants in small group discussions as well, this volume attempts to communicate some of the dynamism and excitement that was evident at the conference. In the final analysis, this book should stimulate further theoretical and empirical advances in understanding how families relate to other contexts.
