The Play of the Eyes is the third volume in Nobel Prize winning author Elias Canetti's trilogy of memoirs. Here, Canetti describes his young adult life as he tries to make it as a writer in Vienna during the 1930s, and provides vivid accounts of the remarkable figures he meets along the way, usually in cafes, from Robert Musil, Thomas Mann, and Herman Broch, among others. "Canetti uses a dramatist's gifts here to achieve emotional depth; his mother's death, sketched simply against the backdrop of a crumbling Europe, takes on a tragic dignity." - Publishers Weekly

"Why did I take you? Why did I fall in love with your eyes?" These are the opening questions to the story of misery, love, and art. When Clover is kidnapped and taken to a mansion in a forest, the first thing she realizes is the paintings above her bed; a beautiful a woman with striking blue eyes, not unlike her own. Her patience, however, grows thin when her kidnapper, Luca, tells her that his plan for her is to turn her into his greatest work of art yet. Pain, isolation, and beauty are soon realized by both Luca and Clover when they discover the true meaning of suffering and a mysterious past of murder is unveiled. "Eternal Eyes" tells the painful story of the corrupt human mind, and the beautiful chaos that can occur to the tune of a piano. (This play is a part of Daniel Zambrano's one-act play BLACK SERIES.) Trends In Contemporary Assamese Theatre written by Namrata Pathak and has been published by Partridge Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-03-27 with Performing Arts categories.

It is the very nature of representation to be theatrical and self-referential. This book undercuts the fact that all representational knowledge is autonomous and sovereign. At times, theatrical representations can misguide and mislead. Representation can also ineluctably project ones own preferences and preoccupations. Thus, representation and subjective interpretation divulge into myriad domains. This book is concerned with the effects and consequences of representation and its politics. This book examines not only how language as well as representation produce meaning, but also how discursive knowledge connected to power regulates, conducts, and constructs identities and defines the way certain things are thought about practices and are studied. The book takes note of the fact that within the framework of performance, a performative subject does not wear a coherent identity as it is fragmented, decentered, simulated and is unstable, while being both virtual as well as actual. In the field of semiotics, theatre is historically and reciprocally affected by practice, especially within contingent conditions of time. In theatre semiotics, the new image of knowledge is that of turbulence. Here, knowledge is not so much a system as it is a confluence. Carrying this stance further we can say that contemporary Assamese theatre is characterised by shifting counter-voices and sub-textual underpinnings. This act forces reading into two directions: dialogic openness and variability of meaning that question the theatre directors as the only ones who know.
