The Poet As Believer written by Aidan Nichols and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-24 with Literary Criticism categories.

This is the first comprehensive study of the theological significance of Paul Claudel, a poet frequently cited by literary-minded theologians in Europe and theologically-minded poets (such as von Balthasar, de Lubac and Eliot). His writing combines cosmology and history, Bible and metaphysics, liturgy and the drama of human personality. His work, which continues to arouse discussion in France, was acclaimed in his lifetime as the 'summa poetica' of a new Dante. Aidan Nichols' study demonstrates how Claudel's oeuvre, which is not only poetry but theatre and prose including biblical commentaries, constitutes a rich resource for constructive doctrine, liturgical preaching, and theological reflection. As the comparable example of Geoffrey Hill, Professor of Poetry at Oxford suggests, Aidan Nichols illuminates how Claudel's synthesis of many dimensions remains an important way of practising poetry in the Christian tradition today.

Faith of the Believer is a combination of creative poetry, philosophy, and wit that is founded on the believer's responsibility to seek to rise up to the standard. A standard which was founded by our Savior, which came with basic instructions, for each believer to go, teach, and make disciples. Poetry is the vehicle, philosophy is the wheels on which it rolls, and the Word is the fuel, which propels it. Somewhere within the bounds of Faith of the Believer is a "spirit check," a personal revival, an awakening of your original vow. A vow to a faith that you were not drafted into but one that you believe in your heart and confessed with your mouth and freely enlisted. So if you are outside of His will, then know that there might be something you yet need to do, or someone that only you can reach. So you might need to get off the sidelines and back in the game, a game that we can't afford to lose. For we are all here with purpose. And time is winding down for the children of man. I come to you in the volume of the book with purpose, as one crying in the wilderness, trying to open the eyes of the children of man, before they are harvested by minds of destruction. For God called preachers, God sent teachers, God sent prophets, and God sent poets. And I am "The Poet," and this is The Poet's perspective on the faith of the believer.

Divine Reflections Divine Reflections is a book of spiritual poetry. God and His Son, Jesus are my first love, and I profoundly enjoy writing about them through poetry. The poems are enlightening and spiritually significant in worshipping and serving them. The principle aspects of the poems are to promote God's Word, and encourage saintly behavior. This is imperative to all God's people who want a closer relationship with Him. He loves all His people, whether they are a believer or non-believer. Yet, it's His desire to have everyone love and glorify Him, repent for their sins, and accept Jesus as their Savior. In addition, He wants them to embody the Holy Ghost, and live their lives steadfast in Faith and works, exercising holiness. Saintly behavior rooted in holiness is the crown all believers and saints of God desire to wear in their heaven oriented relationship with Him, and His son, Jesus. Divine Reflections consist of lucent accounts of Jesus' life, saint building prayers, and a diversity of praises. These are enjoyable powerful spiritual elements that govern true believers and saints of God. The family and nature poems are crafted from a natural point of view, true to spiritual roots. The nature poems applaud God's creations, herald praises and thanksgiving for His all knowing and omnipresent spirit. The family poems conveyed in tender simplicity, are God's superior natural blessings. They are endowed to all His people, both the believer and nonbeliever. Divine Reflections has been a delight for me to write. I'm a saint of God, and its gives me great pleasure to craft poems based on His Word. I love God's Word, and with the help of the Holy Ghost, I strive to exhibit the saintly behavior that it commands. In doing so, I'm earnestly seeking His promise of eternal life. It's my hope, the vividly crafted poems, first and foremost will inspire the reader to read God's Word more and heed the spiritual principles that encourage saintly behavior. It's also my hope for the reader to enjoy reading the poetry.

My Bright Abyss written by Christian Wiman and has been published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-02 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Seven years ago, Christian Wiman, a well-known poet and the editor of Poetry magazine, wrote a now-famous essay about having faith in the face of death. My Bright Abyss, composed in the difficult years since and completed in the wake of a bone marrow transplant, is a moving meditation on what a viable contemporary faith—responsive not only to modern thought and science but also to religious tradition—might look like. Joyful, sorrowful, and beautifully written, My Bright Abyss is destined to become a spiritual classic, useful not only to believers but to anyone whose experience of life and art seems at times to overbrim its boundaries. How do we answer this "burn of being"? Wiman asks. What might it mean for our lives—and for our deaths—if we acknowledge the "insistent, persistent ghost" that some of us call God? One of Publishers Weekly's Best Religion Books of 2013

R. S. Thomas (1913-2000) was a major poet of the twentieth century. He was respected by luminaries of the literary establishment, recognized with numerous awards, and nominated for the Nobel Prize in 1996. Thomas was also a priest of the Anglican Communion who wrestled ceaselessly with problems of faith and doubt in his poetry. John G. McEllhenney makes R. S. Thomas' poems, ministry, and irascible character come brilliantly alive in his new book, A Masterwork of Doubting-Belief: R. S. Thomas and His Poetry. McEllhenney, who developed a personal relationship with Thomas during the last decade of the poet's life, draws on his conversations and correspondence with Thomas, as well as his experiences as a clergyman and lover of poetry, and offers readers a unique experience that is part biography, part appreciation, and part religious meditation. A Masterwork of Doubting-Belief is an important new contribution to our understanding of R. S. Thomas and an inspiring source of insights for all who struggle with their faith!

Love An Index written by Rebecca Lindenberg and has been published by McSweeney's this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-18 with Poetry categories.

A man disappears. The woman who loves him is left scarred and haunted. In her fierce, one-of-a-kind debut, Rebecca Lindenberg tells the story—in verse—of her passionate relationship with Craig Arnold, a much-respected poet who disappeared in 2009 while hiking a volcano in Japan. Lindenberg’s billowing, I-contain-multitudes style lays bare the poet’s sadnesses, joys, and longings in poems that are lyric and narrative, at once plainspoken and musically elaborate. Regarding her role in Arnold’s story, Lindenberg writes with clear-eyed humility and endearing dignity: “The girl with the ink-stained teeth / knows she’s famous / in a tiny, tragic way. / She’s not / daft, after all.” And then later, playfully, of her travels in Italy with the poet, her lover: “The carabinieri / wanted to know if there were bears / in our part of America. Yes, we said, / many bears. Man-eating bears? Yes, of course, / many man-eating bears.” Every poem in this collection bursts with humor, pathos, verve—and an utterly unique, soulful voice. This widely anticipated debut, already selected as a finalist for several prominent book awards, marks the first collection in the newly minted McSweeney’s Poetry Series. MPS is an imprint which seeks to publish a broad range of excellent new poetry collections in exquisitely designed hardcovers—poetry that’s useful and meaningful to anyone in any walk of life.
