This book adopts a comprehensive approach, drawing from archaeology, physical anthropology, human genetics, linguistics, cultural anthropology, ethnology and ethnography, to explore the Austronesian link of ‘Liangdao Man,’ and the origins of Austronesian language groups. Due to their dating 2,300~1,500 years earlier than Austronesian-speaking peoples, these two individuals should be Pre-Austronesian or Proto-Austroasiatic. The Matsu archipelago is situated off Fuzhou City's estuary in Fujian Province. In 2011–2012, the author unearthed two human skeletons, ‘Liangdao Man 1’ and ‘Liangdao Man 2,’ aged 8,300 and 7,500 years, respectively, on Liangdao Island, one of these islands. DNA analysis revealed that haplogroups E and R9 were identified, linking them to Austronesians of Taiwan aborigines’ maternal lineage.

Prehistoric Maritime Cultures And Seafaring In East Asia written by Chunming Wu and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-12-03 with Social Science categories.
This book focuses on prehistoric East Asian maritime cultures that pre-dated the Maritime Silk Road, the "Four Seas" and "Four Oceans" navigation system recorded in historical documents of ancient China. Origins of the Maritime Silk Road can be traced to prosperous Neolithic and Metal Age maritime-oriented cultures dispersed along the coastlines of prehistoric China and Southeast Asia. The topics explored here include Neolithisation and the development of prehistoric maritime cultures during the Neolithic and early Metal Age; the expansion and interaction of these cultures along coastlines and across straits; the "two-layer" hypothesis for explaining genetic and cultural diversity in south China and Southeast Asia; prehistoric seafaring and early sea routes; the paleogeography and vegetation history of coastal regions; Neolithic maritime livelihoods based on hunting/fishing/foraging adaptations; rice and millet cultivation and their dispersal along the coast and across the open sea; and interaction between farmers and maritime-oriented hunter/fisher/foragers. In addition, a series of case studies enhances understanding of the development of prehistoric navigation and the origin of the Maritime Silk Road in the Asia-Pacific region.

Review of Secret Origins of Cultures on Earth Secret Origins of Cultures on Earth is a panoramic odyssey through deep time, weaving history, myth, genetics, archaeology, linguistics, and spirituality into an encyclopedic narrative of Earth's peoples. This book defies conventional timelines—spanning hundreds of thousands of years—and introduces forgotten or marginalized civilizations with poetic flair and visual reverence. The text is rich with sensory detail—flavored by incense smoke, drumbeats, clay dust, and whispered ancestral rituals. Each region is more than a geographical space—it becomes a sentient character shaped by flora, fauna, ancestral memory, and celestial observation. Khoisan trance dances, the Rain Bull ritual, and the Rainforest’s Nkisi are described with mystical depth. Meanwhile, ancient catastrophes, forced migrations, and colonization receive unflinching, detailed attention. What elevates the book beyond ethnography or history is its artistic tone—evocative language and dreamlike structure offer not only facts but feelings. The writing interlaces scientific information (mitochondrial DNA, early tool use, genetic markers) with sensual immersion and metaphysical musing—where desert storms, lunar alignments, and ceremonial baths coexist with trauma and truth. The inclusion of suppressed histories—child sacrifices, slavery complicity, colonial distortions—adds urgency and honesty. Figures like the Lemba, Grimaldi, Tippu Tip, and Efunroye Tinubu are resurrected with clarity and power. The book does not sanitize history—it amplifies it with brutal truths and sacred rituals. Secret Origins of Cultures on Earth is unlike any academic or spiritual book—it occupies its own genre: historical-spiritual ethnopoetics. The author re-centers the global narrative on indigenous voices, matriarchal echoes, and cosmological wisdom. Every culture, from Khoisan to Han, Sumerian to Anatolian, is granted origin myths, aesthetic beauty, and scientific grounding. Visually, the layout supports this feeling of ancient reverence. The images, symbols, and maps are intentionally curated to awaken the senses and the subconscious. Rather than simply display architecture or clothing, the illustrations feel like visual spells—meant to restore lost memory. Secret Origins of Cultures on Earth is not for passive reading—it invites active reorientation. It compels questioning of Eurocentric timelines, Abrahamic doctrine, and capitalist materialism. It demands respect for the spirits of the land and the truths buried under empire and industry. In short—it is revolutionary in voice, beautiful in form, and urgent in purpose.

Taiwan Archaeology written by Richard Pearson and has been published by University of Hawaii Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-31 with Social Science categories.
In Taiwan Archaeology: Local Development and Cultural Boundaries in the China Seas, Richard Pearson describes the archaeology of the island, outlining the major discoveries of the past fifty years. These date from roughly 200,000 years ago to the pivotal seventeenth century AD, the time of Dutch and Spanish contact and the entry of Taiwan into global trade markets. The book focuses on some forty sites and is based on roughly 450 published sources in English, Chinese, and Japanese and includes a brief discussion of finds from the surrounding areas of Fujian, Guangdong, the northern Philippines, and the Ryukyu Islands, noting their significance for understanding Taiwan. This discussion allows for comparison of the different historical trajectories of the neighboring regions of the East and South China Seas through more than five millennia. While the early chapters are primarily descriptive with some interpretive conclusions, the final chapter contains discussions of general topics that integrate and interpret the earlier narrative sections and highlight some of the most interesting topics of the latest research. Among the subjects covered are the effects of sea level change, ancient exchange systems of basalt from Penghu and nephrite from Fengtian (Hualien), and glass beads from Southeast Asia and the China mainland. The prehistoric people of Taiwan lived in a similar fashion to the peoples of the adjacent mainland until around 3500 years ago, when their cultural and political developmental trajectories diverged as Taiwan became isolated from the increasingly complex societies of Guangdong and Fujian. New data show that southern and eastern Taiwan groups participated in exchange networks with people in Island Southeast Asia as early as 2500 years ago. Unique in its coverage of recent advances in the study of the long-term history of Taiwan and surrounding areas, Taiwan Archaeology explores many features of the island’s premodern past that are key to understanding its current geopolitical situation.

The Oxford Handbook of Chinese Linguistics offers a broad and comprehensive coverage of the entire field from a multi-disciplinary perspective. All chapters are contributed by leading scholars in their respective areas. This Handbook contains eight sections: history, languages and dialects, language contact, morphology, syntax, phonetics and phonology, socio-cultural aspects and neuro-psychological aspects. It provides not only a diachronic view of how languages evolve, but also a synchronic view of how languages in contact enrich each other by borrowing new words, calquing loan translation and even developing new syntactic structures. It also accompanies traditional linguistic studies of grammar and phonology with empirical evidence from psychology and neurocognitive sciences. In addition to research on the Chinese language and its major dialect groups, this handbook covers studies on sign languages and non-Chinese languages, such as the Austronesian languages spoken in Taiwan.

This open access book presents multidisciplinary research on the cultural history, ethnic connectivity, and oceanic transportation of the ancient Indigenous Bai Yue (百越) in the prehistoric maritime region of southeast China and southeast Asia. In this maritime Frontier of China, historical documents demonstrate the development of the “barbarian” Bai Yue and Island Yi (岛夷) and their cultural interaction with the northern Huaxia (华夏) in early Chinese civilization within the geopolitical order of the “Central State-Four Peripheries Barbarians-Four Seas”. Archaeological typologies of the prehistoric remains reveal a unique cultural tradition dominantly originating from the local Paleolithic age and continuing to early Neolithization across this border region. Further analysis of material culture from the Neolithic to the Early Iron Age proves the stability and resilience of the indigenous cultures even with the migratory expansion of Huaxia and Han (汉) from north to south. Ethnographical investigations of aboriginal heritage highlight their native cultural context, seafaring technology and navigation techniques, and their interaction with Austronesian and other foreign maritime ethnicities. In a word, this manuscript presents a new perspective on the unique cultural landscape of indigenous ethnicities in southeast China with thousands of years’ stable tradition, a remarkable maritime orientation and overseas cultural hybridization in the coastal region of southeast China.
