The Princess Tessadonna and her husband Bart Corrigan have spent a very happy five years together, back at their home in Brisbane, after Bart rescued his wife and children from the Russian Prince, Ruger Padnev. They have never been happier with their four children until Bart receives an urgent call from his good friend, and Tessa's, Gerhardt Miller, who's now the President of the Republic of Bassenburg. Four bodies have been discovered in Bassenburg, confirming rumours that Padnev, early in his control of the country, had four rebellious farmers murdered and buried in the woods. Austria wants to capture Padnev and bring him to justice but they need Bart's help because he's the only person who knows where Padnev lives in Moscow. Bart goes and, in the firefight that develops, wounds and captures the Russian. Then on his way home, he hears that Padnev has been killed in a prison hospital. He regrets that and, strangely blames Tessa for bringing Padnev into their lives. Old suspicions about her and Padnev surface until Gerhardt and wife Sophie tell him the graphic details of Padnev's horrific treatment of the Princess to make her go to Bassenburg and the terror of her time there---things she has never been able to bring herself to describe to him. As well, he realises that he could have gone to Bassenburg as soon as Tessa was threatened, and rescued her. He's hugely guilty and spends much time making it all up to his Princess. Then Gerhardt is shot and killed while out riding. Bart and Tessa go to the funeral and Bart is immediately besieged with requests, and even demands, that he take over as President. He accepts and he and Tessa are once again governing the little country, but with new problems. Muslims are gradually moving into the borderless and unprotected Bassenburg and soon are likely to take it over. Bart spends much time in Vienna talking with the Austrian Government and has little time for Tessa, who pursues her own programs as First Lady, and they drift apart. There is shooting by the Bassenburg farmers and the Muslims. Bart has a plan to resolve everything but it estranges him from Tessadonna and most of the populace. And he has his friend's murder to solve . . .

The Princess of the Light: Book One of the Saga of the Princesses of the Light by James McKenzie The Princess of the Light by James A. McKenzie is a "fantastical" ride through space among thousands of civilizations that achieved much, but never conquered the problem of greed. This is a story that could have taken place several thousand years ago, or could possibly take place several thousand years in the future. This ethereal tale began in the surface world of Sha'nia, whose great trading ship returned from the cosmos with unexpected cargo-a plague that was so communicable that even trained medical personnel were unaware of it until it was too late. In two days, nearly the entire population had died. Now 6,000 people were the beneficiaries of 50 billion. In the Royal Palace, only 25 survived, including Queen Anne and her four children-William, Elizabeth, Andrea, and Andrew. They knew they were safe with the resources to feed, clothe, and educate themselves. However, over time, a problem came to light-only 100 women and 5 men remained fertile-how would they restore their population? Now, join the Sha'nia in their adventurous travels to other civilizations, as they look for ways to keep their planet alive. About the Author James A. McKenzie is a Michigan native, raised in Montrose, and currently residing in Haslett. The father of three children, he has enjoyed coaching their sports teams. An alumnus of Michigan State University, he trained as an engineer and is a skilled metal model maker by profession, able to create items that do not exist at present. If it can be imagined, he can make it. In addition to writing, his interests include sports and he has been a season ticketholder of Michigan State's women's basketball for years.

Guardians of the Galaxy meets Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in this laugh-out-loud funny journey into space and beyond! Holly Farb is not the Princess of the Galaxy. She may be top of the class in every subject, but she can’t even win a school election, never mind rule the Milky Way. The aliens who kidnapped her have gotten it all wrong. Unfortunately Holly’s alien pirate kidnappers believe that she’s the princess they’ve been looking for, and so she finds herself hurtling through space on an alien pirate ship together with her teacher, Mr. Mendez, and Chester, the most annoying boy in her class. Now all she has to do is escape the pirates, find the missing princess, and get back to Earth in time for her big test on Friday. But it turns out that space is a pretty big place, and before they can go home, Holly, Chester, and Mr. Mendez must face down space cruise liners, bounty hunters, giant worms, perky holograms, cosmic board games, sinister insectoid librarians, and a robot who is learning how to lie. Between running from space pirates, defying the President of the Universe, and meeting a host of rather unusual new friends, Holly starts to wonder if there might be more to life than being top of the class after all.

The just-discovered story of how two enigmatic circus performers and the cultural ferment of the Gilded Age sparked the Black Muslim movement in America Delving into new archives and uncovering fascinating biographical narratives, secret rituals, and hidden identities, historian Jacob Dorman explains why thousands of Americans were enthralled by the Islamic Orient, and why some came to see Islam as a global antiracist movement uniquely suited to people of African descent in an era of European imperialism, Jim Crow segregation, and officially sanctioned racism. The Princess and the Prophet tells the story of the Black Broadway performer who, among the world of Arabian acrobats and equestrians, Muslim fakirs, and Wild West shows, discovered in Islam a greater measure of freedom and dignity, and a rebuttal to the racism and parochialism of white America. Overturning the received wisdom that the prophet was born on the East Coast, Dorman has discovered that Noble Drew Ali was born Walter Brister in Kentucky. With the help of his wife, a former lion tamer and “Hindoo” magician herself, Brister renamed himself Prophet Noble Drew Ali and founded the predecessor of the Nation of Islam, the Moorish Science Temple of America, in the 1920s. With an array of profitable businesses, the “Moors” built a nationwide following of thousands of dues-paying members, swung Chicago elections, and embedded themselves in Chicago’s dominant Republican political machine at the height of Prohibition racketeering, only to see their sect descend into infighting in 1929 that likely claimed the prophet’s life. This fascinating untold story reveals that cultures grow as much from imagination as inheritance, and that breaking down the artificial silos around various racial and religious cultures helps to understand not only America’s hidden past but also its polycultural present.
