A handsome young man, deeply troubled by suspicion and jealousy, secretly follows his wife into the enchanting land of a fairy princess, "The Princess of the Emerald Throne." A saddler follows a playful little bird to the magnificent palace of "The Lady of Forty Tresses." But he commits a folly and is thrown out. Nevertheless, he cannot forget that wonderful event and awaits the return of the little bird for seven years. A crown prince escapes an attempt against his life and, in quest of help to oust the usurper, wanders from country to country. He ends up in the saddler's town and hears his strange story in disbelief. Then he too is taken into that splendid palace and... Three princes are sent to destroy a vicious giant, but only the youngest prince succeeds in getting into the giant's strange looking fortress to eliminate him. Then another giant abducts his fiancee and the prince goes to his fortress, too, to rescue his fiancee and to reverse a spell cast on his brother, who is petrified to stone after drinking water from "The Bewitched Pond." Plus two other fascinating stories "The Irrational King" and "The Sly Fox.."..

All 14 Oz books in one single volume and more than 400 brillant illustrations. The books were written, as Baum tells us, as "a modernized fairy tales, in which the wonderment and joy are retained and the heart-aches and nightmares are left out", with no attempt to "point a fearsome moral" to its readers. Their success was both immediate and enduring, and they quickly won an enormous number of young enthusiasts who remained eager to read "more about Oz" for many years to come. The original story has been adapted and translated and dramatized, and it has also been used as the book for a musical comedy in stage and movie versions. Contents: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz The Marvelous Land of Oz Ozma of Oz Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz The Road to Oz The Emerald City of Oz The Patchwork Girl of Oz Tik-Tok of Oz The Scarecrow of Oz Rinkitink in Oz The Lost Princess of Oz The Tin Woodman of Oz The Magic of Oz Glinda of Oz
