This thesis argues that with the advance of scientific knowledge, particularly in cosmology, Natural Theology can now provide an answer to the question as to the reason for the existence of man and the world. Aristotle had reasoned from the contingency of the world to the necessity of a God. He had also concluded that the world was unworthy of God's concern, as God could not be concerned with a world which was significantly different from God himself. Aristotle's reasoning from the world up to God, together with his inability to reason down from God to the world, established an antinomy. The history of subsequent attempts to avoid this antinomy, and to provide an explanation for the existence of the world, is considered. No such attempt is found to be successful. A hidden assumption in Aristotle's reasoning is exposed. Aristotle's conclusion that the world was not worthy of God's concern followed from his unstated assumption that the world was complete, rather than in process. The thesis argues that the world we know represents a stage in a process towards the possible self-creation of an entity which is similar to God, and so worthy of God's concern. Only a process of self-creation could produce an entity which would be self-existent, and so not significantly different from the self-subsistent God. Each stage of such a process of self-creation, before the final stage, would necessarily be less than perfect. Early in the 20th Century the Emergent Evolutionists had sought to explain the emergence of the biological and mental levels from the material level, without success. Nicolai Hartmann's subsequent ontological investigations made clear the stratified nature of reality. Hartmann's ontology is brought to bear on the problem of Emergence. Hartmann's analysis of ethics and his phenomenology of human nature are also brought to bear on the problem of the nature and role of man in the world. The thesis argues that the world can be understood as a process involving the possible self-creation of an entity like God. In the series of the emergent ontological strata of reality, the physical, biological, conscious and spiritual strata, each stratum is less rigidly determined, and exercises greater freedom than does the previous stratum. The laws of nature vary from stratum to stratum, becoming less deterministic at each new stratum. The present human moral-cultural, or spiritual stratum, exercises complete freedom in relation to the law of this stratum, the moral law. The moral law commands but can not compel. The possible outcomes of this process of Emergence could be either the self-creation of a stratum which is not significantly different from God, or the self-destruction of humanity. In this context, Christ could be considered to be a proleptic exemplar of the final emergent stage.

Astrophysics: Decoding the Cosmos is an accessible introduction to the key principles and theories underlying astrophysics. This text takes a close look at the radiation and particles that we receive from astronomical objects, providing a thorough understanding of what this tells us, drawing the information together using examples to illustrate the process of astrophysics. Chapters dedicated to objects showing complex processes are written in an accessible manner and pull relevant background information together to put the subject firmly into context. The intention of the author is that the book will be a ‘tool chest’ for undergraduate astronomers wanting to know the how of astrophysics. Students will gain a thorough grasp of the key principles, ensuring that this often-difficult subject becomes more accessible.

Cooking Cosmos is an exciting book that traces the history of men's endeavor to understand the Universe, and answers the eternal questions: "Who made this World?" "Where did it come from?" "How and why did it begin?" Thousands of years of continual interaction with nature has brought mankind to the present stage when we have some inkling about the working of nature. We now know that the Earth, our habitat, is only one of the planets orbiting the Sun. The Sun itself is a star among billions of stars in the Universe. We know that our solar system came into existence some 4.5 billion years ago and it is but only a tiny component of our galaxy, the Milky Way. Our Universe contains some 100 billion of galaxies. We know that the Universe itself came into existence with the Big Bang some 13.7 billion years ago and even now galaxies are receding from each other with ever increasing speed. This book takes you through the intellectual journey of mankind, unraveling the mysteries of the Cosmos. Starting from Aristotle's Earth-centered Universe, it will take you step by step to the Copernican Sun-centered Universe, to Hubble's expanding Universe, to the Big Bang, to the currently accepted accelerating Universe. In the process, the book explores the origin of space-time, black hole, black hole radiation, dark matter, dark energy, quantum gravity, string theory, all in terms comprehensible to general audiences.

Mindsteps to the Cosmos shows how modern global civilization depends on giant leaps of understanding that have been made in the past. Science and technology have been inspired and formulated by the sky OCo the cosmos in which we live. Human development could not have taken place on a cloud-shrouded planet. Mathematics was invented to track the movements of the sun, moon and stars even though back then these were thought to be gods. The space program has taken us beyond the earth, and satellite systems are exploring to the ends of the visible universe. This book provides the reader with algorithms to construct personal computer programs for finding the position of the moon and planets, and for calculating dates through historic periods in the Egyptian as well as the old and new style calendars."

The Life Of The Cosmos written by Lee Smolin and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-03-04 with Science categories.

Lee Smolin offers a new theory of the universe that is at once elegant, comprehensive, and radically different from anything proposed before. Smolin posits that a process of self organization like that of biological evolution shapes the universe, as it develops and eventually reproduces through black holes, each of which may result in a new big bang and a new universe. Natural selection may guide the appearance of the laws of physics, favoring those universes which best reproduce. The result would be a cosmology according to which life is a natural consequence of the fundamental principles on which the universe has been built, and a science that would give us a picture of the universe in which, as the author writes, "the occurrence of novelty, indeed the perpetual birth of novelty, can be understood." Smolin is one of the leading cosmologists at work today, and he writes with an expertise and force of argument that will command attention throughout the world of physics. But it is the humanity and sharp clarity of his prose that offers access for the layperson to the mind bending space at the forefront of today's physics.

Some of puzzling Metaphilosophical Questions on Creation: 1) Who was there before creation? 2) Is there a beginning and an end to this creation? 3) Do other universes exist, similar to the universe we live in? 4) What was the first principle or tatwa that put the creation process into action? 5) Is there any controlling force to rule the universe and to keep the universe harmonious? Some of the Cardinal cosmic laws are: “What is evolved is necessarily caused.”-- Cardinal cosmic law - “Being originated it is destructible/changed.” -- Cardinal cosmic law - “What is caused is limited.” -- Cardinal cosmic law Evolution takes place every moment*. “A moment is that period of time unit by which an Anu (atom) in motion gives up its previous position and reaches the succeeding place.” — Maharshi Vyasa. (3000BC) *A moment (Kshana) indicates the smallest unit of time. “Dharma is the form of Dharmi”. “There is no Dharma without a Dharmi” “Dharma Parinama =Characteristic Manifestation is known as Creation” This subject of creation is generally considered obscure, abstract, secretive and unfathomable. But knowledge is self-luminating and the Veda is knowledge. The ancient wisdom of Bharathadesam is the source of illumination for the concepts of creation.

All sub-atomic particles, both simple and complex, were supposedly created within the first second of the Big Bang. That premise is without foundation, is rather incredulous, and leads to many thorny, unanswered questions. But what if we start the universe with a different premise -- that the first particles created were tiny elementary particles from which sub-atomic particles evolved? That premise gives the universe a more credible early evolution. It also answers many of those thorny questions, stipulates how cosmic evolution works, and glimpses how humankind might play a part in that evolution. You are invited to take the Journey and witness the universe from a new perspective. Feel its glory. Admire its simple complexity. Be in awe of its emergent qualities, and delighted by its creative accomplishments. Explore where we have been, where we are going, and how we are going to get there. You will find the Journey not only fascinating and awe inspiring, but it will leave you with a new understanding of why we are attracted to space, why we evolve, and why you exist. If you are ready for a new perspective, take the Journey.

God And The Cosmos written by Harry Lee Poe and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-02-16 with Religion categories.

Theologian Harry Lee Poe and chemist Jimmy H. Davis argue that God's interaction with our world is a possibility affirmed equally by the Bible and the contemporary scientific record. Rather than confirming that the cosmos is closed to the actions of the divine, advancing scientific knowledge seems to indicate that the nature of the universe is actually open to the unique type of divine activity portrayed in the Bible.
