Radicalized Real Estate Agents And The Rise And Resilience Of The Australian Policy For Real Estate Carry written by John S. F. Wright and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-08-21 with Political Science categories.
This is a book about policy change that focusses on a single case study: the rise and resilience of the Australian policy for Real Estate Carry. The text tracks investments of meaning and identity in the Australian policies for Negative Gearing (1987) and the Capital Gains Tax Discount (1999), through which successive federal governments inadvertently created scope for a dangerous and inefficient Real Estate Carry Trade in the housing sector that has proven resilient to reform for a quarter century. Considering that Carry Trades inevitably create the conditions for their own collapse, the historical failure of Australian governments to achieve policy change is a serious issue for the country going forward. As they attempt to make their housing sector more stable, sustainable and equitable, Australian people may need to prepare for potentially dramatic changes to their economic and monetary system. The book also raises important implications for understanding the nature and workings of policy change in Australian politics and beyond. It is a valuable resource for scholars and students of political theory, public policy and Australian politics as well as policy practitioners, third sector groups and political parties interested in Australian and international housing policy.

Brutalism As Found written by Nicholas Thoburn and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-03-19 with Architecture categories.
A critical appropriation of Brutalism in the crisis conditions of today. The Robin Hood Gardens public-housing estate in East London, completed in 1972, was designed by Alison and Peter Smithson as an ethical and aesthetic encounter with the flux and crises of the social world. Now demolished by the forces of speculative development, this Brutalist estate has been the subject of much dispute. But the clichéd terms of debate—a “concrete monstrosity” or a “modernist masterpiece”—have marginalized the estate’s residents and obscured its architectural originality. Recovering the social in the architectural, this book centers the estate’s lived experience of a multiracial working class, not to displace the architecture’s sensory qualities of matter and form, but to radicalize them for our present. Immersed in the materials, atmospheres, social forms and afterlives of this experimental estate, Robin Hood Gardens is reconstructed here as a socio-architectural expression of our times out of joint.

Property Planning And Protest The Contentious Politics Of Housing Supply written by Quintin Bradley and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-03-17 with Architecture categories.
The struggle for the right to housing is a battle over property rights and land use. For housing to be provided as a human need, land must be recognised as a common right. Property, Planning and Protest is a compelling new investigation into public opposition to housing and real estate development. Its innovative materialist approach is grounded in the political economy of land value, and it recognises the conflict between communities and real estate capital as a struggle over land and property rights. Property, Planning and Protest is about a social movement struggling for democratic representation in land-use decisions. The amenity groups it describes champion a democratic plan-led system that allocates land for social and environmental goals. Situating this movement in a history of land reform and common rights, this book sets out a persuasive new vision of democratic planning and affordable housing for all.

In light of the tumultuous global changes which have dramatically affected the hospitality business, the third edition of Developing Hospitality Properties and Facilities provides insight into the reality of developing hospitality properties in challenging international contexts. Since its successful first publication in 2000 and subsequent second edition in 2004, Developing Hospitality Properties and Facilities has sought to model and demystify the process of designing, planning, constructing and sustaining hospitality properties. The third edition boasts an impressive array of academic and professional contributors from Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and 12 case studies and issues concerning individual hotels and international regions and addressing issues of technology, revenue management and fee structures. This edition recognizes that in order for the hospitality sector to overcome periodic problems such as global pandemics, it is important to inform academic and professional readers so that they can ensure that future developments are sustainable, environmentally friendly and resilient in the longer term. Written for hospitality owners, developers, investors and managers and suitable for students, this book aims to bridge the gap between generic and applied texts using a model-based approach to clarify the process in an informed, non-technical way.
