St. Malachy was a 12th century prophet who provided prophetic mottoes for each pope from Celestine II in the 12th century until the final pope, Petrus Romanus, or Peter the Roman, who, according to the prophecy, would sit on the seat of St. Peter during the day of Judgment. St. Malachy provided mottoes for 112 popes, which, some believe, match up with every pope up until Pope Benedict XVI and even Pope Francis, who would, according to the prophecy, currently be sitting on the throne of St. Peter as the final pope or as Peter the Roman in the Day of Judgment. This edition contains the prophecies in English and in the original Latin and, for all of the popes before 1590, a biographical note. A brief explanation of each motto and an illustration of the coat of arms are included for all of the popes, except for those who are left undiscovered.

A historian dissects the prophecies of a Nostradamus-like seer who suggests the end of the papal throne—and the beginning of a new era in the Roman Catholic Church Nearly a thousand years ago, the Archbishop of Armagh—later canonized as St. Malachy—made a series of prophecies that were hidden in the Vatican for four hundred years. His predictions gave clues to the identities of the 109 Popes from medieval times to present day, including the final Pope who would oversee the end of the Papacy and the fall of the Roman Catholic Church. The Last Pope examines the sudden ‘rediscovery’ of these prophecies in the sixteenth century, how they may have been used as propaganda in the campaign to promote Pope Gregory XIV to the papal throne, and how the 2013 papal election may have been our last. Robert Howells has spent the last twenty years researching and writing about religious and historical mysteries. By drawing on his extensive knowledge of both the political and spiritual history of the Catholic Church, he places Pope Francis in the context of what will potential be the most challenging era for the papacy. The Last Pope seeks to answer questions surrounding the future of the Catholic church, offering an investigating that will fascinate readers who are fascinated by the unresolved mysteries in the history of Christianity.

The often predicted Rapture, a protestant interpretation of the Second Coming of Christ, was supposed to happen on March 21, 2011, according to some of a popular persuasion - but it didn't. The world was supposed to end December 21, 2012, as per the Mayan calendar - but it didn't.So what should we expect now with Pope Francis' election? According to Saint Malachy's prophecy, this pope is supposed to be the last one in this almost 2000 year old line of illustrious pontiffs! Saint Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes began with Celestine II who was the 165th Pope. This publication, however, shall look at the papacy from St. Peter, at the very beginning, right up to the alleged last pope, Peter the Roman. In the first segment, that is, from St. Peter (the first pope) through to Innocent II, the 164th Pope, we will look at each pope from an historical perspective only. The popes reigned between A.D. 33 and A.D. 1143. Most of the early popes of this era were considered martyrs, having faced the brutal persecution of the Romans. However, as we shall see, from the perspective of proper Christian conduct, the character of many of the popes at the latter end of this era left very much to be desired. The papacy of this era was plagued with instability and corruption, and was characterized by periods of very short reigns, with some popes reigning for just mere days. This is the period when the popes delved deeply into dirty politics, got involved in wars and infighting, corruption, depravity, violence, murder, greed and lust for power. Popes were involved in adultery, homosexuality, and fathering illegitimate children. In the second segment, we shall take a detailed look at the prophecies of Saint Malachy as they relate to each of the 112 popes he saw in his vision. Contained therein, is a complete list of the 112 popes, ranging from Celestine II, who was the 165th pope in A.D. 1143, to Peter the Roman, who is alleged be the final pope at the end of the world. For each pope, the publication documents the following: the pope's number, the period he reigned, the prophetic motto Malachy used to describe him and the explanation of the motto as it was played out in history. You will find the uncanny accuracy of these prophecies to be utterly amazing! On the night of March 13, 2013, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina was elected as the Catholic Church's new pope, taking the name Francis. Thousands of Catholics gathered under umbrellas outside St. Peter's Basilica, and eagerly listened to the church's 266th pontiff, who addressed the faithful from the balcony. On the surface, Pope Francis, a man of apparent humility, seems to be a very unlikely candidate for the prophecy, but we will all have to watch and see what unfolds as this new Pope gets settled in the seat of power.Folks, we are seemingly headed for some very interesting but disturbing times. Will this supposedly man of such great humility be the false prophet who will be working alongside the antichrist in the final days of human history?

The events of 1978 saw the death of Pope Paul VI, the election and unexpected death of John Paul I, and finally the election of John Paul II. Three Popes in one year propelled the world like a run away train toward the conclusion of a prophecy given by St. Malachy in 1139. The prophecy lists 112 Popes. The last Pope would take the seat of Saint Peter and the world would fall into anarchy. John Paul II was the 110th Pope. The Pope ruling the Holy See today is Benedict XVI, the 111th Pope, and according to the prophecy, the last Pope to rule an intact church and functioning world. The next Pope will not be the Vicar of Christ. He will be the enemy of the church, usurper of the throne and he will be called "Peter of Rome."

Nearly a thousand years ago the Archbishop of Armagh, later canonised as St Malachy, made a series of prophecies that were hidden in the Vatican for 400 years. His predictions gave clues to the identities of the 109 Popes from medieval times to present day, including the final Pope who would oversee the end of the Papacy and the fall of the Roman Catholic Church. In his latest book, historian Rob Howells examines the sudden 'rediscovery' of these prophecies in the 16th century and how they may have been used as propaganda in the campaign to promote Pope Gregory XIV to the throne. Howells also explores the claim that the prophecies are forgeries and refutes it with solid evidence showing Malachy's uncanny accuracy in predicting the identity of the last several popes.
