Hugging is the latest fad trend of recent years and like many other fad craze of previous years, will fade away in the future and be replaced with another fad. However the hugging fad has real health risks which many people do not realize yet.For many years I observed people embracing and hugging in many public and social gatherings with most of huggers enjoying the embracing and hugging. But many times I observed that many huggers were neither happy or enthusiastic with having someone else invade their personal space. That is the reason why I decided to write this book. To point out the good benefits of the human hug but also the huge health risks that people undertake every time they allow somebody else to invade their personal space. The health dangers of that simple hug, no matter how brief or long the hug is, can be mild to a simple offensive and unpleasant smell of somebody's odor to life long injuries or life threatening infections like the flu, tuberculosis, Ebola and other contagious infections. I also point out that people have a choice whether to allow someone to invade their personal space or to opt out of that hug they do not want or they feel that they are obligated to hug someone because of the social trends. The final decision whether to hug someone or not is up to the individual person. If you enjoy hugging and want to hug, regardless of all the health dangers and risks, go ahead and do it.Generally the hugs that are really bad are the ones that can harm you directly or indirectly. Any sneaky hug from behind or the side can cause some injury to you, sprain or strain to some of your joints including the joints of your spine.Any hug that puts pressure or a squeeze on your body is a bad hug that can cause an injury especially to the kids and the weak. A bear hug has the potential to break some ribs or cause some internal injuries and spinal injuries. A running to each other hug can cause serious physical damages. Try to avoid such hugs for the sake of your health.A bad hug is a hug that is unwanted by one of the involved huggers and you can see that on their face. A bad hug is a hug that can cause physical or mental harm to one of the huggers. There is a quote I saw somewhere that goes like this : "DO NOT FEAR THE ENEMY THAT ATTACKS YOU, BUT FEAR THE FAKE FRIEND THAT HUGS YOU" And I want to add my own quote to that: FEAR THE ATTACKS OF YOUR ENEMY AND THE HUGS OF YOUR FRIENDS......... BOTH can be DANGEROUS TO YOUR HEALTH" .Many hugs can cause harm to your body directly or indirectly by introducing viruses, germs and other substances during the invasion of your personal space with a simple hug no mater how brief it is. Some of those viruses and germs can cause serious infections like colds , the flu and more serious infections like Ebola, tuberculosis or the bubonic plaque.Try to avoid the bad hugs for the sake of your health. But do in a genuine welcoming manner with open arms and a huge smile on your face. Enjoy the embrace hugging of that special person you have in your arms. But if, on the other hand do not want to hug someone don't do it.You have no obligation to hug anyone you don't feel comfortable to hug. Period. Just raise your open right hand in front of you and declare with a smile , " SORRY I AM NOT A HUGGER".Smile and nod or wave a welcome or good bye. that's it you are off the hook, and people will appreciate and respect your wishes and personal space!!I recommend GOOD HUGS ONLY A good hug is the one that both persons are willing to hug each other. They face each other with open welcoming arms, a big smile on their face and they gently embrace each other. They hold each other warmly but they do not squeeze or touch any sensitive area without permission, patting gently the other person on the back

This inspirational and uplifting collection of quotes and stories is a celebration of hugs in all their guises A hug is one of the most basic ways two (or more) human beings touch. There is power in a hug. A hug can break down barriers that sometimes words cannot. At times, it can speak more than any words can say. We bond with a hug. We find comfort with a hug. We greet and separate from each other with a hug. We establish human contact and interaction with a hug. The beauty of a hug is in its simplicity. The gesture towards another human being, known or unknown, is easy. It costs nothing but is a simple act of caring and kindness. The Little Book of Hugs looks at all aspects of hugging, from stress-reducing health benefits to hugging etiquette, different hugs for different occasions, hugging quotes and anecdotes, and information about the hugging “community”. This beautifully illustrated book has been created as a gift that is a joy to give as well as receive, and will enrich the life of whoever reads it.

Out Of Touch written by Michelle Drouin and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-06-06 with Psychology categories.

A behavioral scientist explores love, belongingness, and fulfillment, focusing on how modern technology can both help and hinder our need to connect. A Next Big Idea Club nominee. Millions of people around the world are not getting the physical, emotional, and intellectual intimacy they crave. Through the wonders of modern technology, we are connecting with more people more often than ever before, but are these connections what we long for? Pandemic isolation has made us even more alone. In Out of Touch, Professor of Psychology Michelle Drouin investigates what she calls our intimacy famine, exploring love, belongingness, and fulfillment and considering why relationships carried out on technological platforms may leave us starving for physical connection. Drouin puts it this way: when most of our interactions are through social media, we are taking tiny hits of dopamine rather than the huge shots of oxytocin that an intimate in-person relationship would provide. Drouin explains that intimacy is not just sex—although of course sex is an important part of intimacy. But how important? Drouin reports on surveys that millennials (perhaps distracted by constant Tinder-swiping) have less sex than previous generations. She discusses pandemic puppies, professional cuddlers, the importance of touch, “desire discrepancy” in marriage, and the value of friendships. Online dating, she suggests, might give users too many options; and the internet facilitates “infidelity-related behaviors.” Some technological advances will help us develop and maintain intimate relationships—our phones, for example, can be bridges to emotional support. Some, on the other hand, might leave us out of touch. Drouin explores both of these possibilities.

Hug Your Haters written by Jay Baer and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-01 with Business & Economics categories.

Haters are not your problem. . . . Ignoring them is. Eighty percent of companies say they deliver outstanding customer service, but only 8 percent of their customers agree. This book will help you close that gap by reconfiguring your customer service to deliver knockout experiences. The near-universal adoption of smartphones and social media has fundamentally altered the science of complaints. Critics (“haters”) can now express their displeasure faster and more publicly than ever. These trends have resulted in an overall increase in complaints and a belief by many businesses that they have to “pick their spots” when choosing to answer criticisms. Bestselling author Jay Baer shows why that approach is a major mistake. Based on an extensive proprietary study of how, where, and why we complain, Hug Your Haters proves that there are two types of complainers, each with very different motivations: ·Offstage haters. These people simply want solutions to their problems. They complain via legacy channels where the likelihood of a response is highest—phone, e-mail, and company websites. Offstage haters don’t care if anyone else finds out, as long as they get answers. ·Onstage haters. These people are often disappointed by a substandard interaction via traditional channels, so they turn to indirect venues, such as social media, online review sites, and discussion boards. Onstage haters want more than solutions—they want an audience to share their righteous indignation. Hug Your Haters shows exactly how to deal with both groups, drawing on meticulously researched case studies from businesses of all types and sizes from around the world. It includes specific playbooks and formulas as well as a fold-out poster of “the Hatrix,” which summarizes the best strategies for different situations. The book is also filled with poignant and hilarious examples of haters gone wild, and companies gone crazy, as well as inspirational stories of companies responding with speed, compassion, and humanity. Whether you work for a mom-and-pop store or a global brand, you will have haters—and you can’t afford to ignore them. Baer’s insights and tactics will teach you how to embrace complaints, put haters to work for you, and turn bad news into good outcomes.

The link between modern lifestyles and increasing levels of chronic heart disease, obesity, stress and poor mental health is a concern across the world. The cost of dealing with these conditions places a large burden on national public health budgets so that policymakers are increasingly looking at prevention as a cost-effective alternative to medical treatment. Attention is turning towards interactions between the environment and lifestyles. Exploring the relationships between health, natural environments in general, and forests in particular, this groundbreaking book is the outcome of the European Union’s COST Action E39 ‘Forests, Trees and Human Health and Wellbeing’, and draws together work carried out over four years by scientists from 25 countries working in the fields of forestry, health, environment and social sciences. While the focus is primarily on health priorities defined within Europe, this volume explicitly draws also on research from North America.

The idea of humans falling in love with artificial beings is not a modern conception. Our relationship with artificial partners has come a long way since Pygmalion and his ivory lover. In recent years, there has been a strong upsurge of interest and discussions in the various aspects of intimate relationships between humans and artificial partners. This interest is evidenced by the increase in media coverage, TV documentaries and films on this topic, as well as the active research efforts within the academic community. This book provides a comprehensive collection and overview of the latest development in the field of intimate relationships between humans and artificial partners, in particular robots and virtual agents. With unique personal insight, experience, and hard science, Animals in Translation is the definitive, groundbreaking work on animal behavior and psychology. Temple Grandin’s professional training as an animal scientist and her history as a person with autism have given her a perspective like that of no other expert in the field of animal science. Grandin and coauthor Catherine Johnson present their powerful theory that autistic people can often think the way animals think—putting autistic people in the perfect position to translate “animal talk.” Exploring animal pain, fear, aggression, love, friendship, communication, learning, and even animal genius, Grandin is a faithful guide into their world. Animals in Translation reveals that animals are much smarter than anyone ever imagined, and Grandin, standing at the intersection of autism and animals, offers unparalleled observations and extraordinary ideas about both.
