The Red Sheep is a story about Jessica Grant and the challenges faced by families as they deal with aging, mortality, religion, and relationships. Jessica, an only child, was immersed in a stable and supportive family but it did not hide the fact she was different. As such, she saw the world differently. As a child she questioned her being. As a teenager she set her mother in search of answers. As an adult she learned to accept life was what she made of it. Jessica's journey was filled with childhood joy at having special grandparents. When Nan and Pop passed away, it was her youthful logic that helped her cope with their loss. With Nan and Pop's opposing views of an afterlife deeply embedded in her outlook, Jessica explored her background with conviction. The answers she found highlighted how unique she was. The story will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make you question the world around you. It will cause you to marvel at the extraordinary lives led by everyday ordinary people.

Except he’s a bit big and fluffy to play Little Red Riding Hood, and he’s a tiny bit scared of the deep dark woods. Oh, and he has a friend who would be just perfect as Granny…perhaps the author wouldn’t mind a few suggestions?

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1913 edition. Excerpt: ... CHAPTER XIII TYPICAL WILD SHEEP OF ASIA AND AMERICA As wild sheep form the subject of several works 1 and numerous articles in scientific journals, they are discussed much less fully in the present volume than the domesticated breeds, of which the account given in the preceding chapters is claimed to be unique. In Asia wild sheep inhabit the Troodos mountains of Cyprus, and the more or less continuous mountain-chains extending from Anatolia on the extreme west of Asia Minor, through Armenia, Persia, Baluchistan, the north-west frontier districts of India, Afghanistan, Bokhara, Turkestan, the Altai, the Pamirs, the Himalaya, Tibet, the Tian Shan, and Mongolia to the Yana and Kamchatka in the extreme north-east. On the American side of Bering Strait they reappear in Alaska, whence they range southwards through the chain of the Rocky Mountains to the highlands of Mexico. 'E.g. Wild Oxen, Sheep, and Goats, by the present writer, London, 1908. The classification of the sheep there given is somewhat out of date, and an amended scheme, likewise by the present writer, will be found in the sixth edition of Rowland Ward's Records of Big Game, London, 1911. 35a Their most western representative is the red sheep or red mouflon of Cyprus, Asia Minor, and Persia. On the frontiers of the last-named country and Turkestan we enter the domain of the urial or shapo, which extends into the Himalaya; Central Asia is the home of the argalis, the biggest and finest representatives of the whole group; while in the neighbourhood of the Yana and in Kamchatka we encounter the bighorns, which reappear in North America, where they are the sole wild representatives of their kind. The central Himalaya and Tibet form the home of the aberrant bharal or blue sheep, which...

Decca written by Jessica Mitford and has been published by Knopf this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-05-19 with Literary Collections categories.

“Decca” Mitford lived a larger-than-life life: born into the British aristocracy—one of the famous (and sometimes infamous) Mitford sisters—she ran away to Spain during the Spanish Civil War with her cousin Esmond Romilly, Winston Churchill’s nephew, then came to America, became a tireless political activist and a member of the Communist Party, and embarked on a brilliant career as a memoirist and muckraking journalist (her funeral-industry exposé, The American Way of Death, became an instant classic). She was a celebrated wit, a charmer, and throughout her life a prolific and passionate writer of letters—now gathered here. Decca’s correspondence crackles with irreverent humor and mischief, and with acute insight into human behavior (and misbehavior) that attests to her generous experience of the worlds of politics, the arts, journalism, publishing, and high and low society. Here is correspondence with everyone from Katharine Graham and George Jackson, Betty Friedan, Miss Manners, Julie Andrews, Maya Angelou, Harry Truman, and Hillary Rodham Clinton to Decca’s sisters the Duchess of Devonshire and the novelist Nancy Mitford, her parents, her husbands, her children, and her grandchildren. In a profile of J.K. Rowling, The Daily Telegraph (UK), said, “Her favorite drink is gin and tonic, her least favorite food, trip. Her heroine is Jessica Mitford.”
