Imagine the God of the universe whispering in your ear, “What shall we create out of your life that will serve My purpose?” The path of authenticity is not a solo endeavor but a calling to a partnership with God that requires utter honesty, trust, commitment, and wisdom. God guides your path with a two-fold promise, “You know I love you as you are, but together, we can make of your life what I created you to be.” Following the petitions of our Lord’s Prayer, Dr. Richard Parrott examines a family of authentic partners, the family of Abraham and Sarah, their son Isaac, grandson Jacob, and great-grandson Joseph. This fresh telling of the story reveals practical answers to the question, “How can my partnership with God be genuine, mature, and significant?” The Reluctant Journey is an honest and practical guide for relating to God. As authentic Christians, we can live true in Christ and our love for him each day, choosing His best for us so that together, we advance His kingdom “on earth as it is in heaven.” Features include: Truths from the Lord’s Prayer Stories of the founders of our faith Thought-provoking questions for spiritual conversation or reflection

The groom: Christopher has spent twenty minutes compiling his guest list and checking his suit fits before returning to his newspaper - this wedding business isn't so hard after all. The mother of the bride: Armed with colour-coded wedding planning folders she is all set. The best friend: Gillian has stood by Lucy through thick and thin, but she is refusing to be a bridesmaid and wear a daft dress.

A vivid account of an extraordinary life. The misadventures he faced and how these amazingly shaped into a successful diplomatic career. Provides a perspective of life in the Colonies from the 1950s Insights into the duties and exotic adventures of a Special Branch agent Written in a light-hearted fashion and full with amusing anecdotes A nostalgic book that captures the fascinating insights of a British serviceman's love life and family ties. Tim writes vividly about his extraordinary life, his journey from the hard work and poverty of the coal mining towns around Nottingham to the beautiful islands of the Pacific, becoming an important figure, advising Ministers and Presidents in new Nations. All the time, though mixing with and working for the establishment, he retains the perspective of egalitarian socialism that he learned before the war: a man who left school at fourteen to go straight to work mixing with public school, University educated people raised to rule people like him and his family. He writes knowledgeably, critically and very readably of the British Colonial Military and Security services in, for example, Hong Kong prior to the takeover by China. Throughout his love of the places and peoples he lives among is conveyed by a humorous and lively descriptive style. Tim Hardy was born in Nottingham in 1922 into a large and poor family of miners. He left school at fourteen, went to work, joined the Labour Party, educated himself and then fought in the Parachute Regiment during WW2. After the war he joined the Colonial Police and was sent to live alone in the jungle of Malaya during the Communist insurgency there ('40's - '50's). He went on to become a Special Branch officer, specialising in counter-terrorism, in Penang (Malaysia/Malaya), Tanganyika (Tanzania), Sarawak (Malaysia), Fiji and Hong Kong. He was Head of Special Branch in Sarawak during the confrontation with Indonesia. He lived through and describes the decline of Empire and the creation of new Commonwealth democracies and knew many of the important figures in this period such as Julius Nyerere.

The Reluctant Mariner written by Joanna Hackett and has been published by New Holland Australia(AU) this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Voyages and travels categories.

The Reluctant Mariner is the story of a couple's circumnavigation of the world in a 12.2 meter yacht, told from the wife's perspective. Far from simply stopping off in each port, the Hacketts made a point of exploring inland and actually seeing as much as they had time to in every country they visited. The trip took them seven years to complete and they spent many months in several of the destinations they visited. This makes her account more than simply another "sailing around the world" book. Joanna describes their adventures, the people they met, the places they visited -- over 37 countries, many of them not on the usual circumnavigation route -- recounting the good as well as the bad experiences. The Reluctant Mariner also describes what it was like for a middle-aged, female landlubber to leave the comforts of home and family and sail off around the world. Initially a very reluctant sailor, Joanna eventually found herself swept along by her husband's vision and quest for adventure. This is the humorous tale of how she adapted and the experiences she had along the way.

In October, 1970, The Blue Flame rocket car screamed across the Bonneville Salt Flats at 622.407 mph setting the absolute world land speed record. The title held fast for 13 years and remains the fastest American-built car in history. Ray Dausman designed the rocket engine for The Blue Flame. Why wasn't he present when The Blue Flame set the world record? Why didn't the car achieve 1,000 mph as he designed it to do? Ray's story unfolds with humorous observations of what it was like to be a fish out of water in the racing world. The reader has a front row seat for this wrestling match between regret and perspective of achievement. Sarah, Ray's daughter, shares his story in this memoir of a man with a passion for rockets and new ideas. The Reluctant Rocketman introduces the reader to a boy with a thirst for new adventures who develops a passion for rockets as he reaches adulthood with an even greater appreciation for new ideas. The Blue Flame project is the common thread throughout these chapters which shed light on the life a self-taught rocket designer who had to decide if the price of invention was worth it after all.
