The Science of Living With Honesty and Integrity Table of Contents Introduction Earning Good Karma. Quite an honest man! Let My Conscience Speak for Me Black, Gray and White - Inflexibility And Compromise. Walk Quietly by, by the Other Side Conclusion Author Bio Introduction "Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people."- Spencer Johnson. I was reading a story by a French writer, in the 17th century, and I found this line very amusing. "The more he talked about his honesty, the faster we counted our spoons." Well, cynicism is definitely not something new in the 21st century. It has passed down the ages, and especially, when Shakespeare said "The lady doth protest too much, methinks," when he wrote Hamlet in 1602. Here was a clear-sighted person who knew that somebody was trying to persuade herself and trying to pretend to the world that what she was saying was her own belief and the truth as she saw it. How many of us are self-deceivers? Some of us will not and cannot face reality. Some of us are ready to blame others for our shortcomings. Some of us are quite prepared to fight for what we consider to be the truth, because we have expounded it, and we want other people to share our beliefs and thoughts. Be honest with yourself. Once you have faced reality, you can be honest with others. Honesty, especially when you are able to face reality, and you can understand that you are in the wrong or you are in the right is something very few people can do. They would rather stick their heads in the sand, hoping against hope that the problem is going to go away. Of course, they were not responsible for that particular problem. It just happened. I was reading a Novel by Amanda Quick in which the whole family decided that they belonged to Bad blood, which was frivolous, spendthrift, and definitely not responsible. That is why they could fob off all their extravagances, and stupid behavior, to this excuse, "we cannot help it, our ancestors were like that and they passed on their habits to us." This was Regency England. Even today, we have plenty of people using the same excuse, because they are definitely not honest enough to admit it that they do not have the strength or the willpower or the inclination to make something of themselves. They would rather go with the wind, and pretend helplessly, that they really cannot do something, because, well, they are not capable of doing that. They belong to a genetically imperfect family, they do not have any money, they have always been pulled down by circumstances and situations, and other such puerile and feeble excuses. These are just ways and means in which they can shirk their responsibilities. These people are slackers and freeloaders. They are not honest, to themselves, or to others, however much they may pretend to be honest in the given sense of the word. They also do not have personal integrity.

"Integrity, honesty, and truth seeking are clearly important virtues that most people care about and want to see promoted in society. Yet surprisingly there has been relatively little work among scholars today aimed at helping us better understand this cluster of virtues related to truth. This volume incorporates the insights and perspectives of experts working in a variety of disciplines, including philosophy, law, communication and rhetorical studies, theology, psychology, history, and education. For each virtue, there is a conceptual chapter, an application chapter, and a developmental chapter. The result is a volume that significantly deepens our knowledge about and appreciation for these central virtues"--

Why Democracies Need Science written by Harry Collins and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-23 with Science categories.

We live in times of increasing public distrust of the main institutions of modern society. Experts, including scientists, are suspected of working to hidden agendas or serving vested interests. The solution is usually seen as more public scrutiny and more control by democratic institutions – experts must be subservient to social and political life. In this book, Harry Collins and Robert Evans take a radically different view. They argue that, rather than democracies needing to be protected from science, democratic societies need to learn how to value science in this new age of uncertainty. By emphasizing that science is a moral enterprise, guided by values that should matter to all, they show how science can support democracy without destroying it and propose a new institution – The Owls – that can mediate between science and society and improve technological decision-making for the benefit of all.

The Constant Fire written by Adam Frank and has been published by Univ of California Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-01-06 with Science categories.

Eloquent, urgent, and inspiring, The Constant Fire tackles the acrimonious debate between science and religion, taking us beyond its stagnant parameters into the wider domain of human spiritual experience. From a Neolithic archaeological site in Ireland to modern theories of star formation, Adam Frank traverses a wide terrain, broadening our sights and allowing us to imagine an alternative perspective. Drawing from his experience as a practicing astrophysicist and from the writings of the great scholars of religion, philosophy, and mythology, Frank locates the connective tissue linking science and religion—their commonality as sacred pursuits—and finds their shared aspiration in pursuit of "the True and the Real." Taking us from the burning of Giordano Bruno in 1600 to Einstein and on to today's pressing issues of global warming and resource depletion, The Constant Fire shows us how to move beyond this stale debate into a more profound experience of the world as sacred—a world that embraces science without renouncing human spirituality.

Honor written by Kenneth Copeland and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Religion categories.

In my study of the Word of God, I discovered something very important about honor. Honor carries and is supported by the supernatural power of God. An honorable man may look like a lamb being led to the slaughter. He may look like he has just stuck out his chin for someone to hit. He appears this way because he lives by biblical teachings and principles. If we choose to do the honorable thing if we choose to live by the Word of God then the honor of God will hold us up. He has promised us that He will honor us when we honor Him. Kenneth Copeland. Honor Today, almost an entire generation has never experienced Gods honor and presence. Now we live in a dishonorable society because the concept of honor is not being passed on from parent to child. Many parents dont even know what it means to be honorable. What Does Honor Mean? This powerful and scriptural look at the biblical definition of honor will challenge you to live the honorable life and demonstrate that God has provided a way to live and succeed the honorable way.
