Michelangelo used images of human anatomy throughout his work. Nearly the entire body is there, albeit in pieces. Michelangelo began his career with extensive dissections of human corpses and ended his career talking about illustrating an anatomy book. He was hinting, as the anatomy was already there in his art. Perhaps at the time he made the art, he worried that it was too dangerous for his own person to reveal the secular anatomy theme. At the time, Renaissance scholars were studying human anatomy and trying to work out how the organs functioned. Many of them, like Leonardo da Vinci and Vesalius, self-published using their art. Herein are some of Michelangelo’s “self-published” contributions, human anatomy in his art and self-portraits, in the Sistine Chapel, paintings, and sculpture.

We think we know those who are close to us, and we want to believe that what we see is what we get. But we can never know for certain, because what really goes on inside another’s head and heart is essentially a secret. How do you know if that secret is something that will hurt you? Your husband turns to face you in bed. Is he thinking about you or your closest friend? Your boss shows up in another new outfit. Did she get a raise or is she a compulsive shopper who is stealing money from the company? Your teenaged daughter is upstairs in her bedroom. Is she doing her homework or chatting online with a man twice her age? Anatomy of A Secret Life will take you inside the minds of secret-keepers and show you how secrets start, how they’re kept, and how they exact their devastating emotional and social toll. Using contemporary case studies and historical examples, Dr. Gail Saltz shows you how to spot—through subtle behaviors and clues—and safely stop the potentially dangerous secrets that someone, even you, might be concealing from the world.

Anatomy written by Ronald A. Bergman and has been published by Outskirts Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-07-01 with Medical categories.

Conceived by two emeritus professors, Drs. Ronald A. Bergman and Adel K. Afifi—with a combined 100 years of experience teaching gross anatomy and neuroanatomy—this book is designed to facilitate the understanding of the “mysterious” terminology used in anatomy, biology, and medicine, making the learning experience as pleasant as possible. Readers will be able to incorporate this understanding into their career choices, whether they are medical, dental, nursing, health science, or biology students. Anatomy is unique in design, purpose, and scope. It defines the terminology of anatomy, including origin, and includes a gallery of biographies of scientists and researchers responsible for them. The third section of the book examines the nervous system, with definition and origin of named structures and syndromes in the central and peripheral nervous systems. The result is an enhancement of the learning process in neuroanatomy, which is fraught with a seemingly endless number of disconnected terms. This book is not merely a glossary. Anatomy serves as a reference encyclopedia, designed for students who are learning a new language that is indispensable for a career in the health and biological sciences. At first it may appear a formidable task, but this easy-to-follow book offers an explanation of how our anatomical lingo evolved from Greek, Latin, and other sources in order to make sense of these terms, helping to cement them in a student’s understanding.
