But the Veil has left its scars in Rosanne’s heart, as she’s still hurting from the choices she made while being courted by the Forest Devil himself. Grappling with her guilt, she gathers her crew, including a disguised Aros Bernhart who seeks escape from the inquisition, and heads back into the inhospitable fog. The crew believes that since they had escaped the terrors of the magical mist before, they are better equipped this time to explore the islands within. They couldn’t be more wrong. Beset by shape-shifting creatures able to infiltrate dreams, Rosanne is faced with an invisible adversary forcing her to confront her fragile mind. As their journey takes them to the very heart of the Veil, hybrid monsters stalk the Red Queen, and Rosanne must once again work together with Aros to see their journey through or be lost to the Grey Veil forever like so many before them.

Thomas P. Hodge has produced the first literary-historical study of the art-song enterprise in Russia's Golden Age. A Double Garland investigates the interrelationship of poetry and music in Russia, specifically the relations between poets and composers, from 1800 to 1850. Hodge focuses on three major composers of art songs: Alyab'ev, Verstovskii, and Glinka. He surveys their choices of text and, after some preliminary metrical and structural analysis, proceeds to a detailed consideration of the dynamics of poet/composer interaction from various points of view. Hodge presents both the major and minor poets of this period in the context of Russian musical life. Based on extensive archival research, this study will appeal to specialists in Russian poetry and musicologists.

Printed Drama and Political Instability in Mid-Seventeenth-Century Britain: The Literary Politics of Resistance and Distraction in Plays and Entertainments, 1649–1658 describes the function of printed drama in 1650s Britain. After the regicide of 1649, printed plays could be interpreted by royalist readers as texts of resistance to the republic and protectoral governments respectively. However, there were often discrepancies between the aspirational content of these plays and the realities facing a royalist party who had been defeated in the Civil Wars. Similarly, plays with a classically republican Roman setting failed to offer a successful model for the new republic. Consequently, writers who supported the new republic and, eventually, Cromwell’s protectoral government, proposed entertainments, based around the concept of the sublime, whose purpose was to create political amnesia in the audience, thereby nullifying any political dissatisfaction with a non-monarchical form of government. This volume will appeal to students and scholars of seventeenth-century literature, and of the political history of 1640s and 1650s Britain.
