It is within the sanctuary of the wilderness, far from their computer screens and local espresso vendors, that highly acclaimed writers such as Robert Bly, Maxine Kumin, Terry Tempest Williams, and more find their strongest voice. These vivid stories of encounters with animals, wretched weather, fear, humility, and ultimately, with spirit are gritty and as down to earth as it gets. She sought only to rescue herself, but the universe had a different plan; others could be saved too. In Buried Treasure: Unearth Your Golden Soul, Amakiasu Turpin-Howze shares universal laws and principles which transformed her personal trauma into life-giving waters. Her emotional distress drove her to take notes because, as she says, “I needed to hold on firmly to the wisdom of the ages. I needed something to soften the blow.” Fast forward several months to her little notebook, now chock full of inspirational messages that carried Amakiasu through one of the most difficult periods of her life. With her grief easing, she thought, “Surely, I’m not alone. Personal trauma is part of the human journey. Some barely survive, while others are scarred for the duration. If these principles saved my life, maybe they can help someone else too.” Those notes turned book, brim here with universal laws and principles that, if consciously applied, can catalyze the power within to elevate and enlighten us. They come from thought leaders, such as, Wayne Dyer, Eckhart Tolle, Neville Goddard, and Deepak Chopra. Their message is here for the taking. Amakiasu demonstrates and interprets many of these with stories and reflections from her life. Buried Treasure: Unearth Your Golden Soul is a veritable treasure trove for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of what it means to be spiritual beings on this Earth plane. If it doesn’t inspire you, it will, at minimum, give you much food for thought and tools for better living.

Haven't you wondered about the purpose of human existence, the prevalence of evil or what makes people "tick"? Then settle in for an enthralling literary journey. Unearthed Tales of Destined Souls: Stories for Pondering Mortals Volume 1 is an engrossing collection of fifteen stories written in a variety of genres such as fantasy, romance, historical, Scripture-inspired and essay, about ordinary people summoning the forces inside themselves to meet extraordinary challenges of faith, disappointment, or strength to cope with personal and social obstacles before them. Some stories explore America's outrageous and tragic racial history. Some offer imaginative musings about the incarnation of the soul and the conversations between Eden's first couple. Other stories are about biblical and modern men and armies that want to dominate populations through fear and terrorism. Others are whimsical, such as a wife from beyond the grave arranges a blind date for her widower husband. There is an essay about what love is and where to find it. The collection ends with a unique Christmas story from a fresh perspective, that of a shepherd boy who is present at Angel Gabriel's announcement of the Savior's birth. In all the stories, the soul within, uniquely shaped by life experiences, is palpable whether featured "outside the mind" of the protagonist or inside the psyche. These stories promise to stir reflection because the awesome and frequently awful truths revealed about the characters and themes are relevant and timeless. While countless millions of tales buried beneath the dust of forgotten memory remain untold, the souls within these pages are anxious to tell you theirs.

The Garden of the Soul: lessons from four flowers that unearth the Self is a book about becoming whole. It is a journey on the 'path of least resistance to the Self' through the imagery of four flowers that represent four spiritual principles: 'Give' (the Rose), 'Receive' (the Iris), 'Become' (the Daffodil) and 'Be' (the Lily). Taking the reader on a daring and magical journey through the author's life and imagination-from stage fright and burnout in a classical music conservatory, to life inside an Indian temple, to the hidden life of domestic violence, to finding inner peace atop an old English footbridge-The Garden of the Soul explores birth, death, love, art, spirituality and transformation in an eloquent, poetic and ultimately unforgettable way. It is an open invitation to readers to explore how they are already the heroes of their own lives.

There are many ways in which the Church has missed the mark set for it by Jesus—that it would love God and neighbor and that it would preach, teach, and serve. In missing the mark, the Church has caused harm, often to the very people that Jesus called the Church to love and serve. This is a challenge to the Church to be honest about who and what it has become. This is a call to the Church to confess its selfishness and preferences and how they have led it to be of service to itself at the expense of everyone else. This is an effort to own the harm that we, the Church, have caused. This is an attempt at entering into a conversation with the people who have been harmed or left behind by the Church. If the Church is to be effective in the work Jesus has given it to do, the Church must repent of its selfishness, seek forgiveness for the harm it has caused, and be rebuilt on the foundation that Jesus laid out. That cannot happen until we Unearth the Church.

In Encoding Race, Encoding Class Sareeta Amrute explores the work and private lives of highly skilled Indian IT coders in Berlin to reveal the oft-obscured realities of the embodied, raced, and classed nature of cognitive labor. In addition to conducting fieldwork and interviews in IT offices as well as analyzing political cartoons, advertisements, and reports on white-collar work, Amrute spent time with a core of twenty programmers before, during, and after their shifts. She shows how they occupy a contradictory position, as they are racialized in Germany as temporary and migrant grunt workers, yet their middle-class aspirations reflect efforts to build a new, global, and economically dominant India. The ways they accept and resist the premises and conditions of their work offer new potentials for alternative visions of living and working in neoliberal economies. Demonstrating how these coders' cognitive labor realigns and reimagines race and class, Amrute conceptualizes personhood and migration within global capitalism in new ways.

A holistic approach to television criticism, this analytical companion to the popular show Fringe examines the dramas mythology and unveils its mysteries while exposing significant cultural issues addressed in each episode. With a strong basis in science fiction, Fringe has all of the archetypal characters and themes of the genre, from the covert mastermind and the mad scientist to dangerous advances in technology, parallel worlds, and man-made monsters. This guide explores how the show uses these elements to tap into a deeper understanding of the human experience. Less focused on individual episodes, this book is split into three parts, each discussing a broad element of the narrative experience of the first three seasons of this multilayered show.
