The bill would provide emergency authority to protect species in imminent danger, including emergency authority to prohibit the destruction of critical habitat. Funding and incentives for stewardship and conservation would be available, and the bill would enable the payment of compensation where necessary. This document provides a description and analysis of the bill, and compares it to a previous bill, Bill C-65, the Canada Endangered Species Protection Act.
