Tiré du site Internet de JRP/Ringier : "Matias Faldbakken (*1973) is an artist and writer living in Oslo. Son of the celebrated Norwegian author Knut Faldbakken, he has published two novels, "The Cocka Hola Company" and "Macht und Rebel" under the alias Abo Rasul. Drenched with acid humor and continuously hitting below the waist, his books immediately caused a considerable stir in Norway. If, in these publications, he underlines the differences and similarities between the so-called underground and the mainstream, and between the "independent" and the "commercial" in everyday life, these subjects are also central to his art practice. Fascinated with systems of knowledge, power, order, and exchange, he shows an interest in understanding how art and artists can be active participants in these systems. Faldbakken studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen as well as at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. He represented Norway in the Nordic Pavillion at the Venice Biennial in 2005, as well as showing his work in the Wrong Gallery at the Whitney Biennial, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the National Museum Oslo, the Sydney Biennial and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin, among others."

A comprehensive look at the unique artistic work of Annette Kelm, with rich color illustrations of emblematic pieces from her oeuvre. Tomato Target takes a comprehensive look at the unique artistic work of Annette Kelm and the visual idiom she has developed over the course of her career. The book contextualizes Kelm's practice, which deftly probes the medium of photography and uses heterogeneous subjects decisively, to signifiy and act as telling abstractions within her visually opulent object worlds. Kelm's work is at once intellectually astute, concise and enigmatic. Her photographs quote the genres of still life, studio, or architectural photography without fully complying with the conventions that govern them. Tomato Target offers essays, installation views from the artist's solo Tomato Target exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien, and rich color illustrations of emblematic pieces from her oeuvre. The texts unravel the puzzles in Kelm's work, touching on the history of photography, design, and display as well as scientific elements that continue to reappear within Kelm's work. Contributors Vanessa Joan Müller, Anna Voswinckel; conversation between Nicolaus Schafhausen and Brigitte Kölle

It’s a fascinating portrait, by turns sobering and hopeful, of the effects the world’s more than six billion inhabitants have on our planet—and of the working and living conditions of the people who produce most of these goods.

Major works from the Walker Art Center's collection, seen in the context of two watershed moments in American history This diverse survey of American art from the collection of the Walker Art Center uses two of the nation's most significant events as its chronological boundaries: the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961 that escalated the Vietnam War and the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, DC. Within the timeframe of these two landmark calamities, the United States saw the emergence of some of its most noteworthy artists. The publication examines the many themes and techniques developed during those 40 years within the greater context of American history and culture, from modernist abstraction to mass production. These generations of artists probed the very notion of what art is and what it can do using paint, performance, installation, video and photography. This paperback volume features work by artists such as Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Barbara Kruger, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bruce Nauman, Cindy Sherman, Robert Rauschenberg, Kara Walker and Andy Warhol from the Walker Art Center's acclaimed collection.

Fashion At The Time Of Fascism written by Mario Lupano and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009 with Design categories.

The first visual history of Modernist Italian fashion during Benito Mussolini's Fascist regime, and the product of immense research, Fashion at the Time of Fascism charts the fashion industry's ambivalent negotiation of international couture and the bizarre dictates of Fascism, and the legacy of this era in shaping today's fashion industry. Authors Mario Lupano and Alessandra Vaccari explore and compare a huge range of forgotten archival sources, such as women's glossies, fashion, film and gossip magazines, photo archives, exhibition and commercial catalogues, books, manuals and magazines on tailoring, dressmaking, design and architecture, and corporate and government journals. This abundance of materials is presented in a fluid sequence of image and text that charts the rhythms, rituals and lifestyles of the typical Italian day through the four basic themes of "Measurements," "Model," "Brand" and "Parade." Each section includes texts that highlight the key figures and phases in Italian fashion, from the 1920s to the early 1940s, juxtaposing them with Modernism's broader salient themes and emphasizing the conscious use of glamour in the regime's super-choreographed portrayal of itself. Fashion at the Time of Fascism is further enriched by a thorough iconographic index and a detailed reference list, making the volume a revelation for both general readers and scholars. --Publisher description.
