Have you ever asked yourself what changed when you were "born again?" You look in the mirror and see the same reflection - your body hasn't changed. You find yourself acting the same and yielding to those same old temptations - that didn't seem to change either. So you wonder, Has anything really changed? The correct answer to that question is foundational for receiving from God. If you lack this basic understanding, you'll forever ask yourself doubt-filled questions like: "How could God love somebody like me?" and "How can I possibly expect to receive anything from the Lord? I don't deserve it, I'm not good enough!" Spirit, Soul, and Body will help you eliminate those and other doubt-filled questions that destroy your faith. If you have trouble receiving from God, this is a must-read!

Cultivating the Spirit THIS GROUNDBREAKING WORK IS BASED on a five-year study of how students change during the college years and the role college plays in facilitating the development of their spiritual qualities. Students, the authors argue, grapple with the big questions in life: Who am I? What are my values? Do I have a mission in life? Why am I in college? What kind of person do I want to be? What sort of world do I want to help to create? Their answers to these questions help determine their academic and career choices and are tied to the development of personal qualities such as empathy, caring, and social responsibility. The study finds that, while students' religious engagement declines during college, at the same time they become substantially more caring, tolerant, connected with others, and actively egaged in a spiritual quest. Spiritual growth also enhances academic performance, leadership development, and satisfaction with college. The study provides strong evidence pointing to specific experiences during college that can contribute to students' spiritual growth. The need for spiritual development in college is apparent. Two-thirds of the students in the study express a strong interest in spiritual matters, well over half report that their professors never encourage discussions of religious or spiritual matters, and about the same proportion report that professors never provide opportunities to discuss the purpose and meaning of life. Cultivating the Spirit aims to raise the awareness of academic administrators, faculty, and the public at large to the vital role that spirituality plays in student learning and development. Throughout the book, the authors identify strategies for enhancing students' development and encourage the academy to give greater priority to the spiritual aspects of students' educational and personal development.

God is calling forth a generation that is passionate for His presence. What does that look like, and how can it be accomplished? Jaeson Ma offers a powerful vision of what God is radically doing in this generation. Students are already being set on fire for God, planting missional communities, praying fervently, and stepping out in faith to see God move in power to reach the lost. It is time to see this manifested on every campus, in every city, and in every nation. Through his own personal stories, student testimonies, and practical biblical teaching, Ma envisions and practically equips student and staff leaders to change themselves and their campuses for Christ. Readers of The Blueprint will receive a clear vision for revival and reformation of society, a specific spiritual DNA (passion for prayer, power evangelism, and planting simple churches), and practical tools to see the vision for reformation become a reality. That's the plan. Now to see the revolution unfold!

What do we mean by religion?... [T]he tendency since the Reformation has undoubtedly been, to make religion more a badge of separation than a basis of union. But in our day this subject has begun to present itself in a new light. As the science of language has taught us to see affinities where, until recently, men only saw diversities, so the science of religion-a science which, as yet, professes to be only in its infancy-is teaching is that beneath all the outward manifestations of religion lies that which is anterior to all religions, the faculty of aspiring and yearning after the Infinite. -from "Lecture VI: In Creeds and Confessions of Faith" These eight lectures, delivered by Trinity College Fellow ROBERT EDWARD BARTLETT (1830-1904) at the University of Oxford and gathered together in one volume in 1888, explore Christianity from the perspective as both faith and law, as the expression of human feeling as well as the rules by which humanity should live. From the trials of his conversion that influenced St. Paul's interpretations of the Gospels-and the suggestion that he did not consider faith dependent upon them-to how the history of the Church and the performance of the Sacraments are connected in metaphor and actuality, this is an intriguing discussion about how ideas about God, man, and the relationship between them created the Church and ensure its continued existence. OF INTEREST TO: students of Christian philosophy

The Spirit Shaped Church written by Swarup Bar and has been published by Fortress Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-23 with Religion categories.

In The Spirit Shaped Church, Swarup Bar argues that the church is defined by its relationship with others. A relational church depends on the porousness of its borders, which means that, while a church has its distinctiveness, it ought to be open to negotiate relational engagements with the world around it. This sort of relationally distinct, permeable church is found to be possible through the leading of the Spirit and the work of Christ. Such engagement is found to be relevant in a plural, religio-cultural context and in situations of marginalization in India. The Spirit Shaped Church reflects an ongoing commitment on the part of Fortress Press to engage the needs of Christian communities around the world. The book is aimed at teachers, clergy, students, and anyone with an interest in the lived experience of Christians in India.
