To this end the analytical text of the older works has been condensed sufficiently to admit of its presentation in one convenient volume, and some new matter has been added to bring it down to date, including notices of works by Bruckner, Cowen, Dvorak, Elgar, Franck, Mackenzie, Parker, Parry, Sinding, Richard Strauss, and Tchaikovsky.
