A rollicking account of the bizarre hostage drama that gave rise to the term "Stockholm syndrome." On the morning of August 23, 1973, a man wearing a wig, makeup, and a pair of sunglasses walked into the main branch of Sveriges Kreditbank, a prominent bank in central Stockholm. He ripped out a submachine gun, fired it into the ceiling, and shouted, "The party starts!" This was the beginning of a six-day hostage crisis—and media circus—that would mesmerize the world, drawing into its grip everyone from Sweden’s most notorious outlaw to the prime minister himself. As policemen and reporters encircled the bank, the crime-in-progress turned into a high-stakes thriller broadcast on live television. Inside the building, meanwhile, complicated emotional relationships developed between captors and captives that would launch a remarkable new concept into the realm of psychology, hostage negotiation, and popular culture. Based on a wealth of previously unpublished sources, including rare film footage and unprecedented access to the main participants, Six Days in August captures the surreal events in their entirety, on an almost minute-by-minute basis. It is a rich human drama that blurs the lines between loyalty and betrayal, obedience and defiance, fear and attraction—and a groundbreaking work of nonfiction that forces us to consider "Stockholm syndrome" in an entirely new light.

Stockholm syndrome is the name attributed to the particular psychological condition in which someone, when subjected to prolonged time of intimidation, becomes sympathetic and even befriended or idolatrous by his or her aggressor. There is also a strong possibility, largely considered, that for some people, victims of similar harassment, may develop some unconscious mechanism of defense, in an attempt to project affective feelings in the figure of the kidnapper or abuser, because they can soften or relax some kind of negotiation or agreement between the victim/aggressor relationship in an attempt to reduce tension, during and after the experiences between those involved. The reader will be able to understand the deep complexes generated in the social unconscious, based on the analysis of C. G. Jung in "Aspects of Contemporary Drama". It must be observed that all human beings have two realities and the judgment of reality is the ability to distinguish between internal reality and external reality. In the 21st century, it seems that many Brazilian leaders and politicians have not yet developed the judgment of reality; therefore, they do not distinguish the internal reality from the external reality, that is, they do not see their own reality or the reality of Brazilian citizens. On the other hand, in order for the reader to evaluate the veracity of Stockholm syndrome in the Brazilian political scene, the author presents videos of reports and copies of official documents of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and the Supreme Federal Court (STF) of Brazil. It shows the political maneuvers of the Supreme Court, which ordered the release of numerous defendants convicted of "Operation Lava Jato", so that these defendants can run from the 2022 elections. The videos and documents presented are so that the reader can evaluate this and other decisions, as well as the unconstitutional agreements made with the national congress (CN). All these events have as a "backdrop" the COVID-19 pandemic, while the health and freedom of expression of the Brazilian people are used as a political game.

*Warning* this novel details potential psychological implications of victims of sexual assault. It deals primarily with the psychological effects long after the crime has occurred, this novel is intended to show the true malicious nature of this crime as the protagonist deals with suicidal tendencies. This is anti-suicide novel and please don't read between the lines of what is clearly stated, this is a novel of survival and an anti-suicide novel. If you are not over the age of eighteen or do not consider yourself of sound mind to read about such themes please refrain from reading it.The trauma of sexual assault is condemned globally as it should be, images if violence and abuse come to mind but unfortunately for this author I know that the crime is a mere blip in the memory compared to the psychological sentence, a sentence the victim has to serve. I wrote this novel because I have come to find that the psychological prisons the victims are left with are all to common and never though of in our society.Jennifer Mackinson is a twenty year old middle class so average how could she have a story at all? She will never be considered a 'good' person due to her anti-social nature exterior designed to keep her safe from developing human connection which she is afraid but maybe she is most human of us all. She loves science and the natural world but her psychological condition and feminine captivity keep her from achieving her dreams as she struggles to fight for them and her life.Feminist Authors are under represented in our society particularly those that deal in women's rights as our male systematic society seeks to quell the extent of the abuse of women so I wanted to share my work for the first time on the eve of my idol's birthday and basis of the protagonist women's rights activist Emma Watson to show the kinds of voices we lose for abuse and discrimination. If you do chose to read it please leave comments and reviews as I want t improve my writing.

Once, humans were what they believed. Now, the modern person is determined by data exhaust—an invisible anthropocentric ether of ones and zeros that is a product of our digitally monitored age. Author Mark Jarzombek argues that the world has become redesigned to fuse the algorithmic with the ontological, and the discussion of ontology must be updated to rethink the question of Being. In Digital Stockholm Syndrome in the Post-Ontological Age, Jarzombek provocatively studies the new interrelationship between human and algorithm. Forerunners is a thought-in-process series of breakthrough digital works. Written between fresh ideas and finished books, Forerunners draws on scholarly work initiated in notable blogs, social media, conference plenaries, journal articles, and the synergy of academic exchange. This is gray literature publishing: where intense thinking, change, and speculation take place in scholarship.

STOCKHOLM SYNDROME: OR, REMEMBER THE TIME JIMMY'S ALL AMERICAN BEEFSTEAK PLACE WAS TAKEN OVER BY THAT GROUP OF RADICALS? That mouthful of a title is set, appropriately, at Jimmy's All American Beefsteak Restaurant-a fictional chain (the kind you love to hate) -whose employees and patrons suddenly find themselves in the midst of a hostage crisis...and a love story. "An outrageous farce of violence and lasciviousness!" The New Orleans Advocate "STOCKHOLM SYNDROME is a hilarious and captivating show, in the best way possible." Gambit Weekly "In all its absurdity...an entirely new genre of theater-the interactive terrorist musical comedy.... You'll get a hearty kick out of STOCKHOLM SYNDROME." The Times-Picayune "But for all the talk about immersion, maybe the most important piece for an audience member to feel immersed in is thematic. And that's what I enjoyed most about the show. At the heart of STOCKHOLM SYNDROME is a group of characters who look at their lives at some point in the show and realize they're not totally happy with how things are going. Worse yet, they don't even understand how their lives got to this level of disappointment. A server who sings about the dissatisfaction of every day being exactly the same as the last. A diner who doesn't have her needs fulfilled by her husband. A manager whose dedication and loyalty frequently lead to letdowns and heartbreak. A woman who wants a man with more ambition. And a man who just wants a woman to go home and hold hands with. This story is full of realizations of life-gone-astray, and that's a realization most of us can relate to at at least one point or another." Very Local
