Lost Books Of The Bible And The Forgotten Books Of Eden written by Rutherford Hayes Platt and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-02-12 with categories.

2020 Reprint of 1926 Editions. Full facsimile of the original editions and not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. This edition includes two titles published into one bound volume. Rutherford Hayes Platt, in the preface to his 1963 reprint of this work, states: "First issued in 1926, this is the most popular collection of apocryphal and pseudepigraphal literature ever published." The translations were first published, under this title, by an unknown editor in The Lost Books of the Bible Cleveland 1926, but the translations had previously been published many times. The book is, essentially, a combined reprint of earlier works. The first half, Lost Books of the Bible, covers the New Testament. The second half of the book, The Forgotten Books of Eden, includes a translation originally published in 1882 of the "First and Second Books of Adam and Eve", translated first from ancient Ethiopic to German and then into English by Solomon Caesar Malan, and a number of items of Old Testament pseudepigrapha, such as reprinted in the second volume of R.H. Charles's Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament (Oxford, 1913).

The Apocrypha is a collection of religious texts that were excluded from the Bible by the Protestant Reformation. In this book, S.N. Sedgwick provides a detailed examination of the history and content of these often-forgotten books. He explores their origins, their influence on Christian theology, and the controversies surrounding their inclusion in the canon of scripture. With its meticulous scholarship and engaging prose, this book offers a fascinating exploration of a little-known corner of religious history. Excerpt from The Story of the Apocrypha: A Series of Lectures on the Books and Times of the Apocrypha To the Bishop I owe a personal debt of gratitude for help given, directing me to the best books upon the subject. The papers are not other than popular, and only aim at presenting in a concise form results that are otherwise only to be found in scattered and much more voluminous works, and the plan in vogue during their delivery was to read through, before each lecture, the books of the Apocrypha which were to be dealt with. The term "apocrypha" comes from the Greek word meaning "hidden" or "secret". Originally, the term was applied to sacred books whose contents were too exalted to be made available to the general public."The Apocrypha" includes 15 books, all but one of which are Jewish in origin and found in the Septuagint (parts of 2 Esdras are possibly Christian and Latin in origin). Influenced by the Jewish canon of the OT, the custom arose of making the Apocrypha a separate section in the Protestant Bible. The Catholic view, expressed as a doctrine of faith at the Council of Trent, is that 12 of these 15 works (in a different enumeration, however) are canonical Scripture; they are called the Deuterocanonical Books.14 of these books are included in this volume and these are the books; The First Book of Esdras, The Second Book of Esdras, The First Book of the Maccabees, The Second Book of the Maccabees, The Book of Baruch, The Book of Bel and the Dragon, Ecclesiastes or the Preacher, The Book of Esther, The Book of Judith, The Prayer of Manasseh, The Song of Solomon, The History of Susanna, The Book of Tobit, The Book of Wisdom.

The Book Of The Watchers Christian Apocrypha Series written by Enoch and has been published by Lulu.com this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-12-16 with Religion categories.

This is one of many texts that were removed from the Bible, centuries ago, and dates to around 200 BC. The narrative of the Book of the Watchers is told from the point of view of Enoch and not surprisingly focuses on a class of angels known as the Watchers. Watchers are featured in the fourth chapter of the Book of Daniel as well as some of the other apocryphal books that have Enoch's name attached to them. Included here are some opening remarks, which examine the text itself.
