1. 1 Introduction This book is written in two major parts. The ?rst part includes the int- ductory chapters consisting of Chapters 1 through 6. In part two, Chapters 7-26, we present the applications. This book continues our research into simulating fuzzy systems. We started with investigating simulating discrete event fuzzy systems ([7],[13],[14]). These systems can usually be described as queuing networks. Items (transactions) arrive at various points in the s- tem and go into a queue waiting for service. The service stations, preceded by a queue, are connected forming a network of queues and service, until the transaction ?nally exits the system. Examples considered included - chine shops, emergency rooms, project networks, bus routes, etc. Analysis of all of these systems depends on parameters like arrival rates and service rates. These parameters are usually estimated from historical data. These estimators are generally point estimators. The point estimators are put into the model to compute system descriptors like mean time an item spends in the system, or the expected number of transactions leaving the system per unit time. We argued that these point estimators contain uncertainty not shown in the calculations. Our estimators of these parameters become fuzzy numbers, constructed by placing a set of con?dence intervals one on top of another. Using fuzzy number parameters in the model makes it into a fuzzy system. The system descriptors we want (time in system, number leaving per unit time) will be fuzzy numbers.

Dynamical Systems With Applications Using Matlab written by Stephen Lynch and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-09-09 with Mathematics categories.
This textbook, now in its third edition, provides a broad and accessible introduction to both continuous and discrete dynamical systems, the theory of which is motivated by examples from a wide range of disciplines. It emphasizes applications and simulation utilizing MATLAB®, Simulink®, the Image Processing Toolbox®, the Symbolic Math Toolbox®, and the Deep Learning Toolbox®. The text begins with a tutorial introduction to MATLAB that assumes no prior programming knowledge. Discrete systems are covered in the first part, after which the second part explores the study of continuous systems using delay, ordinary, and partial differential equations. The third part considers chaos control and synchronization, binary oscillator computing, Simulink, and the Deep Learning Toolbox. A final chapter provides examination- and coursework-type MATLAB questions for use by instructors and students. For the Third Edition, all the material has been thoroughly updated in line with the most recent version of MATLAB, R2025a. New chapters have been added on artificial neural networks, delay differential equations, numerical methods for ordinary and partial differential equations, and the Deep Learning Toolbox. MATLAB program files, Simulink model files, and other materials are available to download from the author’s website and through GitHub. The hands-on approach of Dynamical Systems with Applications using MATLAB® has minimal prerequisites, only requiring familiarity with ordinary differential equations. It will appeal to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, applied mathematicians, engineers, and researchers in a broad range of disciplines such as population dynamics, biology, chemistry, computing, economics, nonlinear optics, neural networks, and physics. Praise for the Second Edition: “This book [is] a valuable reference to the existing literature on dynamical systems, especially for the remarkable collection of examples and applications selected from very different areas, as well as for its treatment with MATLAB of these problems.” -- Fernando Casas, zbMATH “[The] vast compilation of applications makes this text a great resource for applied mathematicians, engineers, physicists, and researchers. Instructors will be pleased to find an aims and objectives section at the beginning of each chapter where the author outlines its content and provides student learning objectives.” -- Stanley R. Huddy, MAA Reviews

This three-volume set of books highlights major advances in the development of concepts and techniques in the area of new technologies and architectures of contemporary information systems. Further, it helps readers solve specific research and analytical problems and glean useful knowledge and business value from the data. Each chapter provides an analysis of a specific technical problem, followed by a numerical analysis, simulation and implementation of the solution to the real-life problem. Managing an organisation, especially in today’s rapidly changing circumstances, is a very complex process. Increased competition in the marketplace, especially as a result of the massive and successful entry of foreign businesses into domestic markets, changes in consumer behaviour, and broader access to new technologies and information, calls for organisational restructuring and the introduction and modification of management methods using the latest advances in science. This situation has prompted many decision-making bodies to introduce computer modelling of organisation management systems. The three books present the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 39th International Conference “Information Systems Architecture and Technology” (ISAT), held on September 16–18, 2018 in Nysa, Poland. The conference was organised by the Computer Science and Management Systems Departments, Faculty of Computer Science and Management, Wroclaw University of Technology and Sciences and University of Applied Sciences in Nysa, Poland. The papers have been grouped into three major parts: Part I—discusses topics including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence Methods, Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, Big Data, Knowledge Based Management, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and High Performance Computing, Distributed Computer Systems, Content Delivery Networks, and Service Oriented Computing. Part II—addresses topics including but not limited to System Modelling for Control, Recognition and Decision Support, Mathematical Modelling in Computer System Design, Service Oriented Systems and Cloud Computing, and Complex Process Modelling. Part III—focuses on topics including but not limited to Knowledge Based Management, Modelling of Financial and Investment Decisions, Modelling of Managerial Decisions, Production Systems Management and Maintenance, Risk Management, Small Business Management, and Theories and Models of Innovation.

Explore chemical engineering principles using MATLAB for data analysis, visualization, and solving intricate problems MATLAB-based Computations of Chemical Engineering Principles is an in-depth textbook that enables readers to transform classical chemical engineering principles and calculations into MATLAB-based calculations. Throughout the text, problems are solved through two methods: manually (i.e., classical) and via implementing MATLAB code (i.e., digital or software-assisted), with a focus on the latter when solving problems involving multiple steps or complex solutions, or when working with large databases, such as dealing with physical properties of compounds. Seven appendices contain large-size MATLAB codes. In general, small-size MATLAB code is kept within the relevant chapter section. All codes have been verified using the MATLAB platform. End-of-chapter problems reinforce learning by students. The textbook includes problems and solutions related to concepts including: System units and measurement, process variables measurement, and measurement variations and uncertainty Types of errors involved in measurements and energy balance applications for closed and open (flow) systems Total and component material balances, chemical reaction stoichiometry, conversion, yield, selectivity, and chemical equilibrium Properties of pure substances and mixtures as well as vapor liquid equilibrium for single and multi-component mixtures Equations of state for gases Comprehensive in scope with a plethora of helpful learning aids included throughout, this is a perfect textbook for sophomore courses titled Chemical Engineering Principles, Chemical Engineering Stoichiometric Calculations, Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering, Introduction to Chemical Engineering, or Essentials of Chemical Engineering.
