"Between the Baltic and the North seas is an old swan’s nest, which is called Denmark: swans are born here, whose names will never die." This is the story of the swans, who, in ancient times, split up into many groups and flew to many countries. Every group had a name and everywhere they went their beauty and elegance were admired. Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children’s literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Match Girl". His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "The Little Mermaid" in 1989 and "Frozen", which is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.

An engrossing novel about the unlikely love affair between two great 19th-century poets: Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning On a bleak January day in 1845, a poet who had been confined to her room for four years by recurrent illness received a letter from a writer she secretly idolized but had never seen. “I love your verses with all my heart, dear Miss Barrett,” Robert Browning wrote, “and I love you too.” Elizabeth Barrett was ecstatic. She was famous for her poetry but too frail for the kind of travel that Browning used to fuel his unsuccessful, innovative poems, which were full of spellbinding villains. The two began a passionate correspondence, but Elizabeth kept delaying a visit. What would happen when he saw her in person? Could she trust his emphatic promises? And would she survive if she secretly turned over the rights to all the money she earned to a man who promised he could take her to the bright, healing sun of Italy? McNeal brilliantly dramatizes the perils of falling in love in the Victorian world, where family duty was the most important value of all, married women could not own property, and the fight for freedom and equality was funded by sugar crushed and boiled in the West Indies. Lyrically written, as rich as a Brontë novel, The Swan's Nest will immerse readers in the radical hope of two people who believed love in practice could be as enduring and faithful as love in poetry.

Do you know that Swan do not find their mate till they are about seven years old?And do you know that Swans are seen as freedom, kindness, and purity? It is sometimes difficult to make our children understand the beauty of nature, to make them appreciate the small things, the beauty of a flower, the freshness of the air, the scent of grass. Many times we are not fortunate to be in contact with nature, far from a meadow, closed in the cities. Still, so often, while looking out from our balcony in a beautiful country house, we know how to observe but do not appreciate creation's beauty.Know the details and habits of a Swan as common as it is surprising, through a simple path, which fuels your child's interest and curiosity. That's the purpose of this book. But beware, prepare for the challenge! You will have to be able to answer the questions that your child will ask you by showing off their deep knowledge in the microworld of the Swan: -Mom, do you know what a Swans nest is made up of? I do!-Hey dad, do you know what a fear of Swans is called? I do!-Grandpa, do you know how long baby Swans stay with their parents? I do!-Grandma, do you know what color Swan eggs are? I do!-Sarah, you're my big sister, and you've studied a lot, but I bet you don't know how Swans kiss! A tender and engrossing historical novel by a former National Book Award finalist about the unlikely love affair between two great 19th-century poets, Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett, even as their families were determined to keep them apart. On January 10, 1845, a struggling, middle-class English poet named Robert Browning wrote a letter to a famous and wealthy invalid few people had ever seen. "I love your verses with all my heart, dear Miss Barrett," he wrote, "and I love you too." For the next five months, Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett corresponded about each other's poetry, she insisting that he could not possibly love her, dreading the moment when he would see her as she truly was, although privately she composed a series of sonnets about her love for him. On September 12, 1846, knowing that her family in particular was opposed to the union, they married in secret and left, as her doctor had long recommended, for the unpolluted air of Italy, risking death, disinheritance, and near-certain poverty. In her bag, she carried drafts of the sonnets and all 286 of Robert's letters. Many writers have fallen in love with and married other writers, and most of those relationships ended horribly--see Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath, Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Martha Gellhorn. McNeal brilliantly tells the story of how Robert and Elizabeth first fell in love with each other's words, and once they met face-to-face, they became even more devoted to one another. Although her family doubted his intentions and worried over Elizabeth Barrett's health, and her father never spoke to her again after their union, the Brownings overcame all of these barriers to be together. Sensitively and lyrically written, as rich as the lovers' own poetry, The Swan's Nest will sweep up readers in this triumphant story of these two historical figures holding steadfast in the truth and strength of their love.

"Wildfowl and screamers belong to a highly diverse family of birds, confined to watery habitats. They are amongst the most attractive of birds and are very well-known to man, who has domesticated them, used their feathers for warm clothing and ornamentation, admired their flight, courtship and migration, caught them for food, maintained them in captivity for pleasure, and written about their doings in delightful children's stories, from Mother Goose to Jemima Puddleduck and Donald Duck. They occur throughout the world except Antarctica. Some are faithful to the same partner for life, others for only the few minutes of copulation. In some species, male and female make devoted parents, and yet there is one within the group whose female lays her eggs in the nests of others and never incubates. Diving as a method of obtaining food has evolved many times within the family. Most nest in the open but others in the tree-hole nests of woodpeckers and some in the ground burrows of rabbits or aardvarks. They may be highly social or solitary, defending a large territory." -- publisher website.

The famous Kazakh playwright Dulat Issabekov celebrates his 75th Anniversary in October 2017. To this Diamond Jubilee wed like to offer the readers a selection of his popular plays: Song of the Swans, the Actress, A Man on a Mission, the Transit Passenger and the Monument. His play The Transit Passenger was presented successfully to the British audience in London, 2014 and 2015. The Transit Passenger is a play about life, about growing older, and it is a play about the anxiety of being left alone with your memories. By the time when I saw the play in the original Kazakh language, beautifully acted - even though I didnt understand a word of Kazakh - I had tears in my eyes Baroness Alison Suttie
