In the 20th Century three social revolutions—the industrial, sexual, and technological revolutions—challenged the religious convictions of many. John Paul II’s teaching on the theology of the body was his response to the resulting societal shifts. Fr. Bransfield explores John Paul II’s response to the challenges raised by these revolutions. In this context Bransfield then explores how Theology of the Body leads us to live the fullness of the Christian life.

Marked by growing freedom and equality, today's families are also dogged by brokenness and loss of faith. And while the theology of marriage has developed remarkably under the impetus of the Second Vatican Council and Pope John Paul II, the theology of the family remains in its infancy, only beginning to meet the challenges of contemporary society. In Divine Likeness Marc Cardinal Ouellet points the way to a much-needed theology of the family grounded in the doctrine of the Trinity. Cardinal Ouellet understands family life to be a sacrament of Trinitarian communion, a crucial source for revealing and inspiring a new sense of God's presence in the faith community. This book will help theologians, pastors, and believers to develop fruitfully the legacy of Pope John Paul II, carrying forward the quest to let the Trinity and the family illuminate each other for the good of today's world.

Pope John Paul Ii On Inculturation written by S. Iniobong Udoidem and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996 with Philosophy categories.

This work undertakes a philosophical analysis and study of the thought of John Paul II on inculturation and evangelization. It investigates the development of the Pope's thought on inculturation and argues that inculturation is the central theme that unifies the Pope's encyclical. The relationship between inculturation and evangelization is argued for, with particular attention to the analysis of such themes as: creation as inculturation, incarnation as inculturation, and evangelization as inculturation. The text then argues that the relationships between these themes are not only reciprocal but hermeneutical. It also focuses on the relationship between hermeneutics and inculturation and argues that hermeneutics is the most rational foil for understanding the mechanics and the logic of inculturation. The text shows how inculturation, as proposed by Pope John Paul II, serves as a unifying principle that would usher in a new world order (intellectually and socially). Such world vision would allow for cooperation and unity between nations of varied cultures, and thus, allow for the development of a Christian and world community where peaceful co-existence would be a priority. This is the hope of the Pope's gospel of 'Evangelization 2000.'

Gift and Communion offers a critical presentation of John Paul II's theology of the body, understood in the light of Christian theological tradition. The main thesis of the book is that John Paul II's theology of the body forms a new, inspiring approach to Christian ethics and the theology of marriage and family, as well as to theological anthropology. A central thrust of Gift and Communion is to treat theology of the body?as it deserves?in all its philosophical and theological seriousness and to present it as an important stage in the historical development of Catholic theology. This new approach combines a hermeneutical, post-modern reading of the holy scriptures with an attempt to interpret the biblical text in the light of important currents of Western philosophy as well as Catholic theological tradition. Gift and Communion critically evaluates the method, fundamental notions, and significance of John Paul II's thought, places his thought in the context of contemporary challenges to Christian belief and presents it as an important stage in the historical development of Catholic tradition.
