In "The Thomas Factor," Gary R. Habermas presents a transformative exploration of religious doubt and its potential as a catalyst for spiritual growth. This insightful book delves into the often misunderstood territory of doubt, revealing how it can be harnessed as a powerful tool for deepening one's faith and drawing closer to God. Habermas, with his extensive experience and empathetic approach, offers a lifeline to believers struggling with uncertainties in their spiritual journey. At the heart of the book is the dissection of three types of doubt: factual, emotional, and volitional. Habermas, through his own experiences and those of the individuals he has counseled, demonstrates that doubts are not a sign of weak faith but rather an opportunity for profound personal growth. He skillfully navigates the reader through the complexities of each doubt type, providing practical strategies for overcoming them. The book is enriched with examples from both the Old and New Testaments, showcasing that doubt has been a constant companion of even the most steadfast believers throughout history. In debunking common myths about doubting, Habermas sets the stage for building a resilient foundation for faith. Practical chapters guide the reader in developing a tailored strategy to address their doubts. This includes disciplines like prayer, Scripture memorization, journaling, and practicing Christian behavior. Habermas emphasizes that working through doubts is not just an intellectual exercise but involves the whole person — emotions, will, and intellect. "The Thomas Factor" does not shy away from the tougher aspects of theological inquiry. It addresses why theological differences exist and how to live with unanswered questions, thus equipping the reader to navigate the diverse landscape of Christian thought. Habermas concludes with a thoughtful discussion on the negative and positive consequences of doubt. He illustrates how doubt, when approached correctly, can lead to a stronger, more authentic faith, likening the process to refining gold. This book is an invaluable resource for anyone grappling with doubts about their faith. It offers not only solace and understanding but also practical tools for turning doubt into a stepping stone towards a more intimate and robust relationship with God. Target Audience: "The Thomas Factor" is ideal for Christians at any stage of their faith journey, particularly those wrestling with doubts or seeking a deeper understanding of their beliefs. It is also a valuable resource for pastors, counselors, and lay leaders who provide spiritual guidance and support.

Engines Of Discovery A Century Of Particle Accelerators Revised And Expanded Edition written by Edmund Wilson and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-04-17 with Science categories.
The first edition of Engines of Discovery celebrated in words, images and anecdotes the accelerators and their constructors that culminated in the discovery of the Higgs boson. But even before the Higgs was discovered, before the champagne corks popped and while the television producers brushed up their quantum mechanics, a new wave of enthusiasm for accelerators to be applied for more practical purposes was gaining momentum. Almost all fields of human endeavour will be enhanced by this trend: energy conservation, medical diagnostics and treatment, national security, as well as industrial processing. Accelerators have been used most spectacularly to reveal the structure of the complex molecules that determine our metabolism and life. For every accelerator chasing the Higgs, there are now ten thousand serving other purposes. It is high time to move from abstract mathematics and philosophy to the practical needs of humankind. It is the aim of this revised and expanded edition to describe this revolution in a manner which will attract the young, not only to apply their curiosity to the building blocks of matter but to help them contribute to the improvement of the quality of life itself on this planet. As always, the authors have tried to avoid lengthy mathematical description. In describing a field which reaches out to almost all of today's cutting edge technology, some detailed explanation cannot be avoided but this has been confined to sidebars. References guide experts to move on to the journal Reviews of Accelerator Science and Technology and other publications for more information. But first we would urge every young physicist, teacher, journalist and politician to read this book.

Resource Sustainability And Caribbean Development written by Duncan F. M. McGregor and has been published by University of the West Indies Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1998 with Business & Economics categories.
Resource Sustainability and Caribbean Development follows on from Barker and McGregor's earlier edited volume "Environment and Development in the Caribbean: Geographical Perspectives" (1995) and aims "to focus more specifically on the theme of sustainability, and to examine research contributions of geographers to problems of sustainability in the Caribbean region . . .While the problems of environmental degradation have increased in recent decades, the ability of Caribbean governments to cope with the consequences appears to have been eroded. There is, however, a growing recognition within the region of the need for development strategies that focus on the social needs of the people, yet simultaneously protect the fragile natural environment . . . It is hoped that the research presented here will serve to inform the wider research and decision-making community of the main problems associated with resource sustainability in the region, and of some of the major research directions crucial to the alleviation of these problems. Advances In The Interplay Between Quantum And Gravity Physics written by Peter G. Bergmann and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.
In this XVII Course of the International School of Cosmology and Gravitation devoted to "ADVANCES IN THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN QUANTUM AND GRAVITY PHYSICS" we have considered different aspects of the influence of gravity on quantum systems. In order to achieve this aim, in many lectures, seminars and discussions we have strengthened the interplay between gravity and quantum systems starting from the situation in the early universe based on astrophysical observations, up to the earthly based experiments with atom interferometry for probing the structure of space-time. Thus we have had timely lectures on the quantum field and horizon of a black hole including reviews of the problem of black holes thermodynamics and entropy, quantum information, quantum black holes, quantum evaporation and Hawking radiation, recent advances in stockastic gravity. We have also discussed quantum fluctuations in inflationary universe, quantum effects and reheating after inflation, and superplanckian energies in Hawking radiation. In this regard the subject of spinors in purely affine space-time and Dirac matter according to Weyl in the generalized theory of gravitation were developed . The dualism between space-time and matter has been deeply analyzed in order to see why, for general relativity, this is an obstacle for quantization of the theory. Also canonical Gravity and Mach's principle, torsion and curvature as commutator for Quantum Gravity and Dirac Geometry of real space-time were analysed, together with the problem of 5-Dimensional Projective Unified Field theory and Multidimensional Gravity and Cosmology.

A Method For The Calculation Of Large Numbers Of Dipole And Quadrupole Transition Probabilities written by Lawrence P. Shomo and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1970 with Atomic spectroscopy categories.
A computer program is presented which selects allowed transitions and calculates dipole and quadrupole transition probabilities for transitions with LS coupling and no equivalent electrons, based on an extension of the Coulomb approximation formalism to quadrupole and higher multipole transitions. Absorption oscillator strengths or f-values calculated by (1) the self-consistent-field method, (2) the scaled Thomas-Fermi method, (3) the Coulomb approximation method, (4) the variational method, and (5) the effective charge method for singlet and triplet transitions in neutral helium are presented and compared. The Coulomb approximation f-values calculated with the present computer program are found to be in good agreement with the results obtained by the more sophisticated methods.

The Developing Structure Of Temperament And Personality From Infancy To Adulthood written by Charles F. Halverson, Jr. and has been published by Psychology Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-12 with Psychology categories.
This book is the first to bring together researchers in individual differences in personality and temperament to explore whether there is any unity possible between the temperament researchers of infancy and childhood and the major researchers in adult personality. Prior to the workshop which resulted in this volume, the existing literature seemed to document a growing consensus on the part of the adult personality researchers that five major personality dimensions -- the "Big Five" -- might be sufficient to account for most of the important variances in adult individual differences in personality. In contrast to this accord, the literature on child and infant individual differences seemed to offer a wide variety of opinions regarding the basic dimensions of difference in personality or temperament. The editors believed that they could encourage researchers from both the adult and child areas to consider the importance of a lifespan conceptualization of individual differences by discussing their research in terms of a continuity approach. Written by some of the most distinguished scholars from Great Britain, continental Western Europe, and Eastern Europe as well as the United States and Canada, the chapters present a cross-cultural view of both adult personality and temperament in infancy and childhood. By sharing their recent data, techniques, and theoretical speculations, the chapter authors communicate the research enthusiasm engendered by the growing consensus of the adult "Big Five" as well as the exciting prospects of an integrative program of research from infancy to adulthood that will clarify and consolidate what is now a disparate set of methods, theory, and findings across the lifespan. The editors suggest that this volume will have considerable heuristic value in stimulating researchers to conceptualize their work in developmental, lifespan approaches that will lead to a consolidation of individual differences research at every age.
