Mars’s core is still rumbling with earthquakes but the planet’s facilitator Naira has more than that on her plate of worries. What to do with the old guard of Lyreans who still sleep in stasis in the bowels of the city, one of them her own father? Octopuses have colonized the Martian ocean but no-one except Emily knows much about them. And then there’s how to deal with the disharmony in the galaxy that is being broadcast from a source close to the galaxy’s center. The lives of many will entwine before the end. Elise wants to let go of her past and remake her life, hoping to build relationships based on trust. Kjartalan, knowing he needs to work on his own issues, finds himself transported across the galaxy. An Arcturian, on a mission, wants to walk into a vacant body. And Chesten finds a surprising ally, though not of the two legged variety. Their city will be threatened by events beyond their control. In the midst of all this Naira must turn to an old foe but is he to be trusted?

A Transformation Approach To Smarter Core Banking written by Alex Louwe Kooijmans and has been published by IBM Redbooks this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-23 with Computers categories.
The extensive experience brought by IBM to core banking transformation indicates that the most successful transformation approach is a progressive one in which modernization is a process that incorporates flexibility and business acumen, and can adapt as requirements change. Creating a componentized architecture that separates key constructs and their assets from the core transaction engine is a critical factor in achieving a successful transformation. Such a scenario makes the architecture the central concern and allows a bank to benefit from the necessary flexibility and efficiency. After the core architecture is established, the bank can address each requirement and modification on a case-by-case basis by choosing from custom and packaged options. Further, the core transformation method outlined in this IBM® RedguideTM publication allows a bank to make deployment decisions based purely on business benefits by using a progressive program that delivers value at each step of the process, and every step can be tailored to keep pace as needs and requirements change. Finally, this method ensures that the overall transformation process remains in line with evolving business objectives.

The finite element, an approximation method for solving differential equations of mathematical physics, is a highly effective technique in the analysis and design, or synthesis, of structural dynamic systems. Starting from the system differential equations and its boundary conditions, what is referred to as a weak form of the problem (elaborated in the text) is developed in a variational sense. This variational statement is used to define elemental properties that may be written as matrices and vectors as well as to identify primary and secondary boundaries and all possible boundary conditions. Specific equilibrium problems are also solved. This book clearly reveals the effectiveness and great significance of the finite element method available and the essential role it will play in the future as further development occurs.

Much of a software architect’s life is spent designing software systems to meet a set of quality requirements. General software quality attributes include scalability, security, performance or reliability. Quality attribute requirements are part of an application’s non-functional requirements, which capture the many facets of how the functional - quirements of an application are achieved. Understanding, modeling and continually evaluating quality attributes throughout a project lifecycle are all complex engineering tasks whichcontinuetochallengethe softwareengineeringscienti ccommunity. While we search for improved approaches, methods, formalisms and tools that are usable in practice and can scale to large systems, the complexity of the applications that the so- ware industry is challenged to build is ever increasing. Thus, as a research community, there is little opportunity for us to rest on our laurels, as our innovations that address new aspects of system complexity must be deployed and validated. To this end the 5th International Conference on the Quality of Software Archit- tures (QoSA) 2009 focused on architectures for adaptive software systems. Modern software systems must often recon guretheir structure and behavior to respond to c- tinuous changes in requirements and in their execution environment. In these settings, quality models are helpful at an architectural level to guide systematic model-driven software development strategies by evaluating the impact of competing architectural choices.
The Transformation Of Mathematics In The Early Mediterranean World

The Transformation Of Mathematics In The Early Mediterranean World written by Reviel Netz and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-06-10 with Philosophy categories.
The transformation of mathematics from ancient Greece to the medieval Arab-speaking world is here approached by focusing on a single problem proposed by Archimedes and the many solutions offered. In this trajectory Reviel Netz follows the change in the task from solving a geometrical problem to its expression as an equation, still formulated geometrically, and then on to an algebraic problem, now handled by procedures that are more like rules of manipulation. From a practice of mathematics based on the localized solution (and grounded in the polemical practices of early Greek science) we see a transition to a practice of mathematics based on the systematic approach (and grounded in the deuteronomic practices of Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages). With three chapters ranging chronologically from Hellenistic mathematics, through late Antiquity, to the medieval world, Reviel Netz offers an alternate interpretation of the historical journey of pre-modern mathematics.
