One freezing winter morning a dead body is found in the backyard of the Dharma family’s house. It’s the body of Anu Krishnan. For Anu, a writer seeking a secluded retreat from the city, the Dharmas’ “back-house” in the sleepy mountain town of Merrit’s Point was the ideal spot to take a year off and begin writing. She had found the Dharmas’ rental through a happy coincidence. A friend from university who had kept tabs on everyone in their graduating year – including the quiet and reserved Vikram Dharma and his first wife, Helen – sent her the listing. Anu vaguely remembered Vikram but had a strong recollection of Helen, a beautiful, vivacious, social and charming woman. But now Vikram had a new wife, a marriage hastily arranged in India after Helen was killed in a car accident. Suman Dharma, a stark contrast to Helen, is quiet and timid. She arrived from the bustling warmth of India full of the promise of her new life – a new home, a new country and a daughter from Vikram’s first marriage. But her husband’s suspicious, controlling and angry tirades become almost a daily ritual, resigning Suman to a desolate future entangled in a marriage of fear and despair. Suman is isolated both by the landscape and the culture, and her fortunes begin to change only when Anu arrives. A friendship begins to form between the two women as Anu becomes a frequent visitor to the house. While the children, Varsha and Hemant, are at school, Anu, Vikram’s mother, Akka, and Suman spend time sharing tea and stories. But Anu’s arrival will change the balance of the Dharma household. Young Varsha, deeply affected by her mother’s death and desperate to keep her new family together, becomes increasingly suspicious of Anu’s relationship with her stepmother. Varsha’s singular attention to keeping her family together, and the secrets that emerge as Anu and Suman become friends, create cracks in the Dharma family that can only spell certain disaster.

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Alexandra who asked her daddy, "Daddy, please tell me a stoooweee". Well this is my story on how I created thousands of children stories. These stories come from a world where animals of all kinds all talk and learn, like children, about life. Around the age of three my daughter got tired of me reading little kiddy stories and asked me "Daddy, please tell me a stoooweee". So every night I would make up a new short story. One day, when she was 7 years old, I decided to tape these stories so she could hear them over and over. Well that went on for 7 more years with over 110 hours and over 3,000 stories. There are so many stories that I will have to write many more volumes. So here we are, the first book is published and now kids all over the world can enjoy them as my daughter did for many years. The time you spend with your child is most rewarding. Never get tired of loving, kissing and hugging them, no matter how old they get. Please view the book website by Clicking here. What does the Bible teach and what does it not teach? Does the Bible Tell Me So? addresses this question by first examining how the Bible has been misinterpreted in the past and then asking if the same mistakes are being made today. The topic of how to interpret scripture so as to correctly understand what it teaches is extremely important not only for creating unity among Christian denominations but for civil dialogue and peaceful decision making. To correctly interpret the teachings of the Bible, various contexts must be taken into consideration: the literary form the biblical author is using, the beliefs at the time of the original author and audience, and the two-thousand-year process of ongoing revelation modeled in scripture. In this book, author Margaret Nutting Ralph explains each of these three contexts and applies this method of interpretation to historical issues, demonstrating how the Bible was abused to support the deep-seated prejudices of well-meaning people of the past. She then examines this approach in relation to current issues to determine whether scripture is being misused today.

Angie Redlantern is the first to spot the boats - five abreast with men in metal masks and spears standing proud, ready for the fight to come. As the people of New Earth declare war on the people of Mainground, a dangerous era has dawned for Eden. After generations of division and disagreement, the two populations of Eden have finally broken their tentative peace, giving way to bloodshed and slaughter. Angie must flee with her family across the pitch black of Snowy Dark to the place where it all started, the stone circle where the people from Earth first landed, where the story of Gela - the mother of them all - began. It is there that Angie witnesses the most extraordinary event, one that will change the history of Eden forever. It will alter their future and re-shape their past. It is both a beginning and an ending. It is the true story of Eden.

A deeply personal master class on how to read a natural landscape and unravel the clues to its unique ecological history Structured as a series of interactive field walks through ten New England ecosystems, this book challenges readers to see the world through the eyes of a trained naturalist. With guided questions, immersive photography, and a narrative approach, each chapter adds layers of complexity to a single scene, revealing the millions of years of forces at play. Tying together geology, forest ecology, wildlife biology, soil processes, evolution, conservation, and more, Noah Charney shows how and why landscapes appear in their current forms. Charney’s stories and lessons will provide anyone with the necessary investigative skills to look at a landscape, interpret it, and tell its story—from its start as rock or soil to the plants and animals that live on it. Ultimately, Charney argues, by critically engaging with the landscape we will become better at connecting with nature and ourselves.
