From the origins of this hero of Irish lore to his habits, occupations and characteristics. This book offers enlightenment on little-known aspects of the wider fairy world, as well as turning the spotlight on the real leprechaun. Every country has its own myths about fairies and 'wee folk', but the Irish leprechaun is the undisputed king. To some, he is an impish figure full of harmless mischief, forever guarding his elusive crock of gold. To others, he is an evil gnome bent on disrupting the lives of mortals with his black magic and malevolent acts. Historian and folklorist Bob Curran looks at the origins of this hero of Irish lore – fallen angel, diminished god or son of fairies – and at his habits, occupations and characteristics. He explores the superstitions surrounding the leprechaun and his enduring place in popular culture, and turns the spotlight on the 'real' leprechaun – mysterious, complex and contradictory.

Josh, king of Ulster held a feast in Armagh. King Leon, king of Leprechaun land held a feast at the same time. Leon was 6 and a half inches tall, half an inch taller than the rest of his people. He boasted and said. "Have you ever seen a king superior to me?" They all said they had not but David hearing such boasting laughed out loud. The king stopped choking with rage. "Why do you laugh" he said. "Because I know of one province in Ireland and if one of them cam alone here tonight he could take from you and your people all your wealth. David was arrested but said to the king "as a result of the hands placed on me here tonight you will be forced to spend one year in Armagh and you will not leave it until you have left the best of your wealth and jewels behind with the Ulster king. Misfortune will befall because I will be kept in the house of Josh the Daring. I will swim in a goblet of wine and be almost drowned. Give me three days and three nights and I will go to Armagh and if I do not bring back proof you can do with me what you will. David goes to Armagh and returns with Aodh a dwarf in Ulster but a giant in Leprechaun land. King Leon has to spend a year in Ulster and the leprechauns declare war on Ulster to get him back. Summer With The Leprechauns written by Tanis Helliwell and has been published by Wayshower Enterprises this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-06-04 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

An astonishing true story about one woman’s journey to Ireland where she lived in a cottage with leprechauns. These seldom-seen beings taught her about the evolution of elementals—the race to which leprechauns, faeries, elves, trolls belong. They explained the importance of humans and elementals working together for the betterment of both of their races and the Earth. Far more than a faery tale, this book is a classic that has been published in eight languages. Now the author has re-edited her book so that the reader can hear the leprechaun’s voice in all his mischievous wisdom. You also learn about body elementals that keep you alive from lifetime to lifetime and about the beings in the center of the Earth who are helping our planet. And all this with a great sense of humor as Helliwell captures life in a remote Irish village with an insight into the people that is infectious. An Irish Jewel, this is a good humored, true account of Tanis’ summer in a cottage in Ireland where the resident leprechaun taught her about the evolution of elementals (fairies, elves, leprechauns). Praise for Summer with the Leprechauns: “Tanis Helliwell is a spiritual evocateur and deep seer who opens us up to other voice…other realms…” - Jean Houston, author of Search for the Beloved “This delightful book is not only great fun to read, but makes most interesting and intelligent suggestions about the reality and work of this particular branch of the nature world. It can help us open our minds to fascinating dimensions that do exist on the planet.” - Dorothy MacLean, co-founder of Findhorn and author of To Hear the Angels Sing “Opening this book opens a door in the imagination. Whether you take it as fact or fiction, this book carries a message of planetary priorities.” - Julia Cameron, An Artist’s Way
