In this book we develop various mathematical models of information dynamics, I -dynamics (including the process of thinking), based on methods of classical and quantum physics. The main aim of our investigations is to describe mathematically the phenomenon of consciousness. We would like to realize a kind of Newton-Descartes program (corrected by the lessons of statistical and quantum mechanics) for information processes. Starting from the ideas of Newton and Descartes, in physics there was developed an adequate description of the dynamics of material systems. We would like to develop an analogous mathematical formalism for information and, in particular, mental processes. At the beginning of the 21st century it is clear that it would be impossible to create a deterministic model for general information processes. A deterministic model has to be completed by a corresponding statistical model of information flows and, in particular, flows of minds. It might be that such an information statistical model should have a quantum-like structure.

The purpose of this study is to examine the rationale of Doris Lessing's development from Classical Realism to mysticism and forms of science fiction and to consider the unifying motifs that appear throughout her novels in her consistent search for Sufi Equilibrium. The four novels selected in this study represent significant stages in Lessing's work. Chapter one focuses on The Grass is Singing, which represents the author's early traditionally realistic writing, to show how far the preoccupations of Lessing's later novels find expression in this early work. Chapter two studies The Golden Notebook, which marks a turning point in formal structure in Lessing's canon and is selected as evidence of her interest in Sufism at that early stage. Chapter three concentrates on the study of The Memoirs of a Survivor, which has elicited a comparatively limited amount of criticism but which proves to be a major achievement when brought into line with Sufi methods of writing. As the history of philosophy shows, it has been under permanent discussion at all times. Traditional discourse about - ality covers the full range from basic metaphysical foundations to operational approaches concerning human kinds of gathering and utilizing knowledge, broadly speaking epistemic approaches. However, no period in time has ex- rienced a number of moves changing and, particularly, restraining traditional concepts of reality that is comparable to the 20th century. Early in the 20th century, quite an in?uential move of such a kind was due to the so-called Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, laid out essentially by Bohr, Heisenberg, and Pauli in the mid 1920s. Bohr’s dictum, quoted by Petersen (1963, p.12), was that “it is wrong to think that the task of physics is to ?nd out how nature is. Physics concerns what we can say about nature.” Although this standpoint was not left unopposed – Einstein, Schr ̈ odinger, and others were convinced that it is the task of science to ?nd out about nature itself – epistemic, operational attitudes have set the fashion for many discussions in the philosophy of physics (and of science in general) until today.
