Only if, with regard to the diversity of religions, there are questions about truth and falsehood do we have a problem about the pluralism of religions and the unity of truth. That problem is not concerned with preserving religious liberty, freedom of worship, and the toleration, in a particular society or in the world, of a diversity of religious institutions, communities, practices, and beliefs. It is concerned only with the question of where, in that diversity, the truth lies if there is any truth in religion at all.

The first volume in a series entitled "The Collected Works of Jack Cottrell" - this book is a collection of essays derived from his 48+ years of teaching. As Dr. Cottrell explains: "I am calling this first volume The Unity of Truth. A main theme of my whole career has been TRUTH; thus it seems appropriate to begin with this subject. The lead essay has the same title as the book, namely, "The Unity of Truth." This is a brand new study, never before published. In length, it is sort of in between an essay and a book, so I will call it a "theologella" for three reasons. First, it is about theology. Second, short novels are called novellas; the length of this piece fits that pattern. Third, I like to make up new words. The next three studies herein are of different lengths. Two have been published before, both in The Restoration Herald. One is called "In Matters of Faith, Unity; in Matters of Opinion, Liberty." This goes back to the February/March 2009 issues of the Herald. The other is a slightly longer version of a piece called "Christian Truth for a World in Decay," which appeared twice in the Herald: in the December 2016 issue, and in the June/July 2017 issues. The next piece here is entitled "'Hold On!' The Tyranny of Change." This is a sermon first preached at the Greendale (IN) First Church of Christ (where I worship and work), then for a chapel service at the (then) Florida Christian College. This is its first time in print. The next item is "The Peter Pan Syndrome: Churches and Christians That Won't Grow Up." This is one of my favorite compositions. I have presented it numerous times, beginning at a meeting in Louisville, KY, in 2014. It is based solely on Paul's teaching in Ephesians 4:11-16. Next is my most recent composition (as of May 14, 2018). I was asked to speak on this subject for the April 2018 meeting of the Fi-County Ministerial Association in Mowrystown, OH, namely, "Is the Restoration Movement Still Relevant?" My answer is yes, but only if we decide to put faithfulness to God's truth ahead of our quest for the unity of Christendom. This applies especially to the truth about baptism. The final entry here is a paper I presented in Indianapolis, IN, in the fall of 1989, at a conference on the nature of Biblical authority sponsored by the Christian Theological Seminary (Disciples of Christ). Three main speakers were invited to present papers on the conservative, moderate, and liberal perspectives on this subject. I was asked to present a paper from the conservative viewpoint. I am in the process of planning the next volume, which will probably be called God's Word Is Truth. It will be a selection of pieces on Biblical themes. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this one." (Adapted from the Preface)

Unity In Truth written by David Martyn Lloyd-Jones and has been published by EP BOOKS this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-01-01 with Religion categories.

Edited by Hywel Rees Jones It was just a handful of people; but because of the life that was in it, and the power of the Spirit upon it, the early church was mighty. It shook the world. Today the picture is one of chaos and confusion, within the church as well as outside it. The church has become uncertain of her own message. The Christian faith is being queried, denied and ridiculed almost as never before. The Lord Jesus Christ is reduced to Jesus - a mere man. He has been robbed of his eternal sonship, his unique deity and all his miracles, his atoning work and his literal physical resurrection. Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones calls on evangelicals to unite in a clear and uncompromising stand for the truth once delivered to the saints, in a fearless proclamation of the biblical gospel, which is the only answer to man's desperate need, and in prayer for a fresh outpouring of the power of the Holy Spirit in revival. Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones (1899-1981), one of the most remarkable preachers of this century, exercised a wide and influential ministry, which began in his native Wales and continues today through the many books that have been published. He is especially known as the minister of Westminster Chapel in London, a position he occupied for nearly thirty years. These addresses, originally given under the auspices of the British Evangelical Council (BEC), are still as relevant today as when they were first preached.

Evangelical Truth written by John Stott and has been published by Langham Global Library this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-07-14 with Religion categories.

John Stott’s masterly distillation of sixty years’ reflection on Christian discipleship ranges over the history of the church and its formative teachings, as well as the world-wide church today. He expounds the trinitarian character of the evangelical faith: the gracious initiative of God the Father in revealing himself to us, of Jesus Christ in redeeming us through the cross, and of the indwelling Holy Spirit in transforming us. This is why the three-fold emphasis of evangelical faith is upon the Word of God, the once-for-all nature of the work of Christ and the active, continuing work of the Spirit. This edition of Evangelical Truth contains The Cape Town Commitment, a document produced by The Lausanne Movement faithfully reflecting the proceedings of The Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization.

One written by Graham Priest and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03-27 with Philosophy categories.

Graham Priest presents an original exploration of philosophical questions concerning the one and the many. He covers a wide range of issues in metaphysics--including unity, identity, grounding, mereology, universals, being, intentionality, and nothingness--and deploys the techniques of paraconsistent logic in order to offer a radically new treatment of unity. Priest brings together traditions of Western and Asian thought that are usually kept separate in academic philosophy: he draws on ideas from Plato, Heidegger, and Nagarjuna, among other philosophers.

History And Truth written by Paul Ricœur and has been published by Northwestern University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1965 with History categories.

Incredible originality of thought in areas as vast as phenomenology, religion, hermeneutics, psychoanalysis, intersubjectivity, language, Marxism, and structuralism has made Paul Ricoeur one of the philosophical giants of the twentieth century. The way in which Ricoeur approaches these themes makes his works relevant to the reader today: he writes with honesty and depth of insight into the core of a problem, and his ability to mark for future thought the very path of philosophical inquiry is nearly unmatched. In History and Truth, Ricoeur investigates the antinomy between history and truth, or between historicity and meaning. He argues that history has meaning insofar as it approaches universality and system but no meaning insofar as this universality violates the singularity of individuals' lives. Imposing unity upon truth, or unifying the diversity of knowledge and opinion, creates a singular and universal history but destroys historicity and subjectivity. Allowing for singularities in history promotes a multiplicity of truths over a single, unique truth and thereby annihilates system. This volume and the other new editions of Ricoeur's texts published by Northwestern University Press have joined the canon of contemporary continental philosophy and continue to contribute to emergent discussions in the twenty-first century. Core Christianity written by Michael Horton and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016 with Christian life categories.

What Do All Christians Believe? For many people, words like doctrine and theology cause their eyes to glaze over, or they find them difficult to understand and struggle to see how they are relevant to daily life. But theology is far from boring; it is the study of God and should lead to awe and wonder as we better understand who God is and what he has done for us. In Core Christianity, author, pastor, and theologian Mike Horton tackles the essential and basic beliefs that all Christians share. What is core to the Christian faith? In addition to unpacking these beliefs in a way that is easy to understand, Horton shows why they matter to our lives today. This introduction to the basic doctrines of Christianity is a helpful guide by a respected theologian and a popular author, and it includes discussion questions for individual or group use. Core Christianity is perfect for those who are new to the faith, as well as those who have an interest in deepening in their understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.
