An English lord torn from his homeland and forced to survive by his wits. The determined daughter of a duke who will never give up looking for him. Fate binds them together, but it will take an uncommon love to overcome the heartbreaking disaster which awaits them. Penniless aristocrat Flynn Cadnam has been dubbed the Vagabond Viscount by London society. But when Flynn informs his father that he intends to marry Lady Augusta Kembal, he is shocked to discover the lengths his vindictive sire will go to in order to destroy his son’s future happiness. Lady Augusta Kembal holds a deep longing for her brother’s best friend, and she suspects Viscount Cadnam feels the same for her. But just when she thinks Flynn is finally going to propose, he suddenly disappears. London is soon awash with rumors of Flynn’s untimely demise. The duke’s daughter is left to mourn the loss of the man she loves. In the hope of finding respite for her broken heart Augusta undertakes a journey to Italy with her mother. In the crowded streets of Rome, she spies a familiar face. The Vagabond Viscount is a gorgeously romantic, and at times steamy historical romance between two people bound together by the truth that home is where the heart is, and love is worth risking it all. Smarts, imagination, courage, and killer charm helped these love maestras claim the men of their choice and keep them fascinated for life. Through an exposé of their secrets, Seductress provides an authoritative, empowering guide to erotic sovereignty.

Gender And Space In British Literature 1660 1820 written by Mona Narain and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

Between 1660 and 1820, Great Britain experienced significant structural transformations in class, politics, economy, print, and writing that produced new and varied spaces and with them, new and reconfigured concepts of gender. In mapping the relationship between gender and space in British literature of the period, this collection defines, charts, and explores new cartographies, both geographic and figurative. The contributors take up a variety of genres and discursive frameworks from this period, including poetry, the early novel, letters, and laboratory notebooks written by authors ranging from Aphra Behn, Hortense Mancini, and Isaac Newton to Frances Burney and Germaine de Staël. Arranged in three groups, Inside, Outside, and Borderlands, the essays conduct targeted literary analysis and explore the changing relationship between gender and different kinds of spaces in the long eighteenth century. In addition, a set of essays on Charlotte Smith’s novels and a set of essays on natural philosophy offer case studies for exploring issues of gender and space within larger fields, such as an author’s oeuvre or a particular discourse. Taken together, the essays demonstrate space’s agency as a complement to historical change as they explore how literature delineates the gendered redefinition, occupation, negotiation, inscription, and creation of new spaces, crucially contributing to the construction of new cartographies in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century England.

The Wandering Life I Led written by Susan Shifrin and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-05-27 with Art categories.

This book of essays brings together international scholars working on the literary, visual, musical, and theatrical representations and reception of Hortense Mancini, Duchess Mazarin, an early modern woman whose literal—geographical—“border crossings” serve here as the starting point for an investigation of her and others’ elisions and transgressions of borders of all kinds. The authors lay out strategies for exploring the ways in which she crossed geographical, gendered, cultural, and—in scholarly terms—disciplinary boundaries, and in so doing, consider how an investigation of those border crossings can enhance our understanding of early modern cultural formation. The new work presented here by some of the most distinguished junior and senior scholars working today in the fields of history, art history, literary history, the history of theater, and the history of music promises to stimulate a broader scholarly discussion about early modern border-crossing and women’s places in the early modern period in general.
