In "The Way of Peace," James Allen masterfully articulates a philosophical exploration of tranquility, self-discovery, and the path to inner harmony. This treatise, rooted in the early 20th-century New Thought movement, employs a contemplative yet accessible literary style that invites readers to reflect inwardly. Allen's prose is imbued with a poetic simplicity, juxtaposing profound spiritual concepts with practical guidance, ultimately urging individuals to cultivate peace within themselves as a precursor to external serenity. The book deftly weaves personal responsibility and mindfulness into its narrative, suggesting that inner peace is not merely a state of being but a way of living. James Allen, a prominent figure in self-help literature, is perhaps best known for his seminal work, "As a Man Thinketh." His upbringing in a working-class environment and subsequent experiences with adversity profoundly influenced his philosophical outlook. Allen's thirst for understanding human nature and the mechanics of thought became the bedrock of his writings, positioning him as a seminal voice in self-improvement and spiritual philosophy. "The Way of Peace" reflects his belief in the transformative power of thought and its role in shaping one's reality. This book is highly recommended for readers seeking personal growth and a deeper understanding of inner tranquility. Whether you are on a spiritual quest or simply in need of practical insights to navigate life's challenges, Allen provides a timeless guide that encourages introspection and mindfulness. "The Way of Peace" serves as an enduring companion for all who aspire to live a life defined by peace, purpose, and positivity.

One of the most influential social activists of the twentieth century, A. J. Muste is remembered by some as a pioneering labor leader, by others for his work helping lay the foundations of the civil rights movement, and by many others for his tireless work for peace, justice, economic equality, and the protection of civil liberties. As a pastor, Muste's life and work were shaped by his Christian theology. This collection of Muste's sermons, speeches, articles, and other works for religious audiences is a timely call for Christians to follow him in the way of peace.

Spiritual meditation is the pathway to Divinity. It is the mystic ladder which reaches from earth to heaven, from error to Truth, from pain to peace. Every saint has climbed it; every sinner must sooner or later come to it, and every weary pilgrim that turns his back upon self and the world, and sets his face resolutely toward the Father's Home, must plant his feet upon its golden rounds. Without its aid you cannot grow into the divine state, the divine likeness, the divine peace, and the fadeless glories and unpolluting joys of Truth will remain hidden from you.

Peace Is The Way written by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and has been published by Harmony this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-03-08 with Self-Help categories.

Deepak Chopra’s passionate new book, Peace Is the Way, was inspired by a saying from Mahatma Gandhi: “There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.” In a world where every path to peace has proved futile, the one strategy that hasn’t been tried is the way of peace itself. “We must not bring one war to an end, or thirty,” Chopra tells us, “but the idea of war itself.” How can this be done? By facing the truth that war is satisfying, and then substituting new satisfactions so that violence is no longer appealing. “War has become a habit. We reach for it the way a chain smoker reaches for a cigarette, promising to quit but somehow never kicking the habit.” But Chopra tells us that peace has its own power, and our task now is to direct that power and multiply it one person at a time. Behind the numbing headlines of violence running out of control there are unmistakable signs of a change—Chopra believes that a majority of people are ready to see an end to war. “Right now 23 million soldiers serve in armies around the world. Can’t we find ten times that number who will dedicate themselves to peace? A hundred times?” Peace Is the Way challenges each of us to take the next leap in personal evolution. “You aren’t asked to be a saint, or to give up any belief. You are only asked to stop reacting out of fear, to change your allegiance from violence to peace.” In a practical seven-step program, Chopra shows the reader how to become a true peacemaker. “Violence may be innate in human nature, but so is its opposite: love. The next stage of humanity, the leap which we are poised to take, will be guided by the force of that love.” This is more than a hope or an aspiration. It is a new way of being in the world, giving each individual the power to end war in our time.

The inspirational teachings in this collection show that the real way of the warrior is based on compassion, wisdom, fearlessness, and love of nature. The teachings are drawn from the talks and writings of Morihei Ueshiba, founder of the popular Japanese martial art of Aikido, a mind-body discipline he called the "Art of Peace," which offers a nonviolent way to victory in the face of conflict. Ueshiba believed that Aikido principles could be applied to all the challenges we face in life—in personal and business relationships, and in our interactions with society. This is an expanded version of the original miniature edition that appeared in the Shambhala Pocket Classics series. It features a new introduction by John Stevens, recently translated doka, didactic "poems of the Way," and Ueshiba's own calligraphy.

Walking In The Way Of Peace written by Meredith Baldwin Weddle and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-05-03 with Religion categories.

This book investigates the historical context, meaning, and expression of early Quaker pacifism in England and its colonies. Weddle focuses primarily on one historical moment--King Philip's War, which broke out in 1675 between English settlers and Indians in New England. Among the settlers were Quakers, adherents of the movement that had gathered by 1652 out of the religious and social turmoil of the English Civil War. King Philip's War confronted the New England Quakers with the practical need to define the parameters of their peace testimony --to test their principles and to choose how they would respond to violence. The Quaker governors of Rhode Island, for example, had to reconcile their beliefs with the need to provide for the common defense. Others had to reconcile their peace principles with such concerns as seeking refuge in garrisons, collecting taxes for war, carrying guns for self-defense as they worked in the fields, and serving in the militia. Indeed, Weddle has uncovered records of many Quakers engaged in or abetting acts of violence, thus debunking the traditional historiography of Quakers as saintly pacifists. Weddle shows that Quaker pacifism existed as a doctrinal position before the 1660 crackdown on religious sectarians, but that it was a radical theological position rather than a pragmatic strategy. She thus convincingly refutes the Marxist argument that Quakers acted from economic and political, and not religious motives. She examines in detail how the Quakers' theology worked--how, for example, their interpretation of certain biblical passages affected their politics--and traces the evolution of the concept of pacifism from a doctrine that was essentially about protecting the state of one's own soul to one concerned with the consequences of violence to other human beings.
