Woodcock are one of the oddest birds in North America. They are a shorebird that got lost and ended up in the scrubby parts of the forest, and look like they were put together with the leftover parts of other birds. Oddities aside, each spring they rise to great beauty with their sky dance at dusk. Greg Hoch combines natural history, land management, scientific knowledge, and personal observation to examine this little game bird. Woodcock have a complex life history and the management of their habitat is also complex. The health of this bird can be considered a key indicator of what good forests look like.

Michigan is one of the best states in the nation for flyfishing, and Jon Osborn's all-new Flyfisher's Guide to Michigan details the outstanding fishing opportunities like no other guidebook on the market. The author covers the hot spots and lesser known fisheries with personal experiences, historical overviews, effective techniques for both warmwater and coldwater species and resident and anadromous species, stocking data, appropriate gear and flies, access points, nearby fly shops, approximate float times and much more. Photographer Hunter Brumels provides the visuals that paint the full picture of the fishing in this incredible state. With bonus coverage of nearby watering holes, anglers will have everything they need for many memorable days. From mainstays like the Au Sable, Pere Marquette, Muskegon and Manistee rivers to hidden gems like the Rabbit and Red Cedar rivers, Osborn has put in the river-time so that you can get down to business. Many more forks and tributaries are covered, including trout, steelhead, salmon, bass and pike fisheries. This book comes standard with Wilderness Adventures Press' precise and detailed full-color maps, with GPS coordinates for all access points, boat ramps, and parking areas, along with access roads, public land and more. As Lefty once said: "If someone can't find locations from these maps - they need to stay home." Whether you're a veteran fly angler or new to the sport, get an edge with this all-new guidebook.

Life as we know it seems to be underpinned on electrical energy. Live without it for 2 days and everything unravels. You cannot work, meet deadlines, shop, store or feed yourself. --Suhasini Ayer, Auroville, Pondicherry, India This book describes global natural and cultural biodiversity and the way to unite individuals from various backgrounds through collaboration, natural restoration and peaceful co-existence. It explores Asian culture and economic growth, particularly in India, to promote equality within the Indian social order through a paradigm shift--building a society based on mutual well-being rather than caste distinction. India and the world has the potential to grow and expand in a profoundly sustainable and positive socioeconomic manner. Juxtaposing nature and our human world, this book reveals the parallels found between the worlds of nature and humanity. Learning from the symmetry and harmony of nature, humanity too can co-exist in a peaceful and positive way through the process of symbiosis. Pavan Gills manuscript addresses two of the most pressing issues of our time: inequality and human security. Her...insightful and well-researched work on ecological biodiversity and environmental harmony in India is both creative and original. Professor Gordon Smith -Executive Director of the Centre for Global Studies-Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for international Governance Innovation (CIGI), and Adjunct Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Victoria

Meanderings Of A Snake Meadow Editor written by Paul E. Chase and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-11 with categories.

This is a book of essays about upland hunting experiences, bird dogs, noteworthy authors who wrote books about upland hunting, celebrated entrepreneurs in the shotgun-producing industry, favorite upland painters whose subjects were dogs and men in the field, fine double shotguns, a few short stories and several miscellaneous subjects, most related to the upland shooting life. This book also offers historical, environmental, philosophical and aesthetical observations of a long-time rural landowner. A fellow bird hunter, Dick Curriden, of Greenville, Maine also contributed witty and humorous words of a highly respected sportsman in the form of letters written to me over the years. The title, Meanderings of a Snake Meadow Editor, originates from the well-known 1925-established Snake Meadow Club, Inc., located in the towns of Plainfield and Killingly in eastern Connecticut, of which I have been quarterly newsletter editor for the past twenty-two years. This has afforded me the opportunity to write a column or two in every publication. These rather brief paragraphs in the newsletters have been expanded and, with few exceptions, resulted in the essays that comprise this book.
