We were well aware of the difficulties we would have to encounter in finding a market for the large amount of wine which we held, which meant that we should do within a few months that which it had taken the dealers years to accomplish. We naturally expected to make large sacrifices in the prices which we would receive, and our members recognizing this fact as well as the board of directors, through resolutions and discussions during the meeting expressed their willingness to donate a million gallons of wine for the purpose of acquiring a trade with the understanding that the wine was well sold if no price should be received at all for it and a permanent trade should be built up for the balance of our product.
