Foreword: The present volume marks the end of a year - the pandemic-stricken 2020. COVID-19 is out in full force in numerous countries, with the U.S. having the highest active cases and fatalities. Diverse data suggest that some countries have either not reported anything specific regarding the virus or their population has not been affected. Turkmenistan and North Korea are two instances where related reports are suspected to have been suppressed; hence, displaying zero incidences. There are, however, island nations in the South Pacific - Palau, Micronesia, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Samoa and Tonga, which seemed to have been spared by the virus' spread due to their isolated locations. Still, Vanuatu, Fiji and Solomon have been under its impact. While the Damocles' sword continues to swing this year over the majority of nations - disguised not only as a highly contagious virus but also in various forms of persistent political turbulences, thoughts of enduring peace worldwide have maintained their place in countless hearts. 2020's final issue of The Year of the Poet is its own evidence. Writers from across the globe have once more come together as a collective voice through the uniting power of poetry to contemplate on peace for humanity. The poems in this collection speak for themselves. As for this month's focal defender of peace, the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Abiy Ahmed Ali, a considerable amount of information is being provided through the poetic constructs but also as introductory prose. There remains one point that needs to be emphatically stated: even the mere conceptualization of peace for the sake of an oppressed populace is of vital importance. Abiy Ahmed Ali's dedication to the actual application of that concept and his ensuing initiatives against his country's oppressive regime have, after all, materialized as peace not only in his native land, Ethiopia, but also in the neighboring Eritrea.Albert Einstein has been quoted as having said the following: "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding." Together with Abiy Ahmed Ali and innumerable other defenders of peace - recognized worldwide or not, we thus join hands yet once again toward a comprehensive understanding for the only alternative that there is when the survival and betterment of humanity in its entirety is concerned: a growing platform of peaceful coexistence where oppressive powers that be are not allowed any place or space. hülya n. yılmaz, Ph.D.Professor Emerita, The Pennsylvania State University (U.S.A.)Director of Editing Services, Inner Child Press International (U.S.A.)

Foreword: Welcome to the 79th volume of The Year of the Poet brought to you by the Inner Child Press Poetry Posse plus a few featured friends. Within the microcosm of peace and Nobel Peace Prize winners, this month we turn our attention to sustainability, a green revolution that has been building for a long time. We amplify the voice of one man who wanted to see each person feed. We ask ourselves how we can help sustain the world, not just those who are rich, those who are in urban environments, or just those in rural farms, and we are still looking for answers 79 or so years after Norman Borlaug started helping Mexico become self-sufficient in wheat. An American born in 1914, Borlaug won the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize. His goal was to strike a balance between population growth and food production―creating enough food to sustain everyone's dreams and ambitions. Borlaug's success in Mexico made him a much sought-after adviser especially in South American and Asian countries where food production was not keeping pace with population growth. As poets we use our creativity, awareness, and pens to bring both peace and sustainability to the world. With enough creativity to find solutions that have been overlooked, spreading the word about the possibility for greatness in a world where every child is nourished, we bringing consciousness through sharing our thoughts, listening to those around us, and reflecting back our community wisdom. In a diverse environment many great ideas can thrive, grow, and be amplified by those who listen and see the beauty in diversity and sustainability for all. A pen, a computer, letters on a sheet of paper, we say are mightier than the sword. We lay down our swords to write, think and pray for a spark that will ignite a generation bringing peace and justice to the darkness.Peace can grow and hunger subside when each person's contribution matters, is seen and valued. As you read these poems listen to the cacophony of voices they represent, not because we few are representative of all but because we each grow in different environments, learn unusual things and listen to those in our diverse communities. Our words reflect our love of one person, a community, the natural world, or an idea. As we put pen to paper or fingers to the keyboard, we seek to create a world in which each voice is valued, and each person is nurtured. All this while, still realizing that we live in a world where we have the power to amplify certain voices and affirm: Black Lives Matter.Kimberly Burnham, Spokane, WA

ForewordA new decade dawns with poetry and wisdom. This is our collective poetry posse's seventh year publishing The Year of The Poet with a book a month from Inner Child Press. It has been our great privilege to share much beauty and soothe pain with words of insight and laughter, words that rhythm and dance across the page, bouncing off into the reader's heart. Each year we contemplate a theme, delving into ideas, finding words to describe feelings, conflicts, relationships and growth. This year may our vision be 20-20 as we contemplate the words and ideas of Nobel Peace Prize winners. And may we share our understanding of the world and how-to live-in peace with each other in a way that goes deep and touches what is real, raw, powerful and magnificent. There are as many ways to win a Nobel Peace Prize as there are ways to find peace in this world. In January, we celebrate the 1901 prize shared by two Europeans: Jean Henry Dunant (Swiss) and Frdric Passy (French). Dunant found peace in compassion for the wounded of all nations on all sides of each war. He founded the Red Cross. Passy felt that peace is found in economic justice and free trade. He was dubbed the "dean" of the international peace movement.A shout out to Martin Luther King, Jr. who would have been 91 this month and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his non-violent opposition to discrimination. This year of poetry is an opportunity to think about what we have learned from world history and our own personal experiences of peace, compassion, security and justice. It is an opportunity to contemplate how we respond to conflict, injustice and violence, how it changes us and how we grow in the aftermath of life's challenges.May we all find peace in poetry and in the day to day of life in 2020 wherever in the world we find ourselves. Happy New Year.Kimberly BurnhamSpokane, Washington

That was the era as China's "the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" emerged.Regarding the Cultural Revolution, Liu Xiaobo recalled: "I am very grateful for the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. I was a kid at that time and I could do whatever I wanted." "Schools were closed, and I could temporarily get rid of the education process, do what I want, and play. Go to war, I had a great time."Beginning in 1984, for several consecutive years, Liu Xiaobo published "On Artistic Intuition", "A New Aesthetic Trend", "Inevitable Reflection-Talking from Several Novels About Intellectuals", "Crisis! Literature in the new era is facing a crisis!", Let the "Liu Xiaobo Phenomenon" that shook the literary world first show its brilliance and arouse repercussions among young students.Liu Xiaobo developed from literary criticism to ideological and cultural criticism, and became the spokesperson of irrationalism and anti-traditional thoughts. In 1987, Liu Xiaobo published his famous work "A Critique of Choice-A Dialogue with Li Zehou" and in 1988, after publishing his doctoral dissertation "Aesthetics and Human Freedom", he became a Ph.D. in literature and applied for a lecturer in the Chinese Department of Beijing Normal University. Foreword:1990 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Mikhail Gorbachev the former president of Russia was the eighth and last leader of Russia's Soviet Union ' USSR. He held that office for about one and a half years early 1990 to August 1991. He held a number of high-level positions in a long active career as an organizer, activist, politician, statesmen etc. to list a few hats he wore. Note: His credits are massive so i will attempt to present an overview. He is noted for his progressive social/political leanings certainly by Soviet Russian standards a departure from the orthodox Communist party line. Born in 1931 to a poor family of Russian / Ukrainian heritage. He grew up in the Joseph Stalin years and as a young man was involved in farming and operated combine harvesters on a collective farm. Combine harvesters are versatile farm machinery that harvest a variety of grain crops by performing reaping, threshing and winnowing thus combine harvesting. He joined the Communist party that governed the Soviet Union at that time as a one-party state under Stalin. At that time Gorbachev embraced the dominant, popular Marxist-Leninist doctrine. He entered Moscow State University where eventually met his future wife fellow student Raisa Titarenko. They married in 1953 prior to receiving his law degree in 1955. He soon began working for a youth organization after Stalin's death became active in the ' de-Stalinization ' reforms of Stalin's successor Nikita Khrushchev. By this time, he was recognized enough to be appointed the First Party Secretary of the Stavropol Regional Committee in 1970. He continued to rise up in the party until he eventually became de facto head of government in 1985. Around that time, it became apparent his social /political beliefs were beginning to develop a social/democratic slant in his thinking although still committed to preserving the socialist ideals of the Soviet state saw that it was time to engage in significant reforms especially after the 1986 Chernobyl disaster. Therefore, he withdrew from support of the Soviet-Afghan War, proceeded to establish dialog with United States President Reagan to limit nuclear weapons end the cold war. Domestically he introduced ' glasnost ' (openness) allowed for enhanced freedom of speech and the press. His 'perestroika' (restructuring) to improve economic efficiency, democratization measures, formation of the elected Congress of People's Deputies. He declined military action when various eastern Bloc countries abandoned Marxist/Leninist governance in 1989-90 showing tolerance with their decision. Because of his untraditional governing an unsuccessful Coup attempt was made against Gorbachev in 1991. Afterwards the Soviet Union dissolved and Gorbachev resigned. He then launched his Gorbachev Foundation and he became a vocal critic against Boris Yeltsin and Vladimir Putin and campaigned for Russia's democratic movement. He became an advocate for the reunification of East and West Germany of course including bringing down the wall. He ultimately received the coveted Nobel Peace Prize in 1990 especially for his efforts to end the cold war.Mikhail Gorbachev is an extraordinary human being with a record of amazing accomplishments over his life. He is a unifier bringing the world together in peace and harmony and he dedicated his life to that in a totalitarian regime that being Communist Soviet Russia, USSR and succeeded where others couldn't mainly because of his diplomatic skills and natural ability to connect with people across a broad spectrum of ideologies with dignity and respect affording dignity and respect to whoever he encountered. He is the consummate statesman and a major world figure of the second half of the 20th Century. Mikhail Gorbachev is a peacemaker! [...]

Foreword: Kim Dae-jung was President of South Korea from 1998 to 2003. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for his work for democracy and human rights in South Korea, and for peace and reconciliation with North Korea. He sought to lay the foundation of a peaceful reunification of north and south Korea, which had been in a state of war since 1950 by means of his "sunshine policy" of mutual understanding and friendliness.Kim Dae-jung was born on 6 January 1924 but had it changed to 3 December 1925 to avoid conscription under Japanese colonial rule. Kim was the second of seven children. There were many attempts to kill him for his opposition to military rulers in South Korea. Kim reflected on these events during his 2000 Nobel Peace Prize lecture: "I have lived, and continue to live, in the belief that God is always with me. I know this from experience. In August of 1973, while exiled in Japan, I was kidnapped from my hotel room in Tokyo by intelligence agents of the then military government of South Korea. The news of the incident startled the world. The agents took me to their boat at anchor along the seashore. They tied me up, blinded me, and stuffed my mouth. Just when they were about to throw me overboard, Jesus Christ appeared before me with such clarity. I clung to him and begged him to save me. At that very moment, an airplane was sent down from Heavens by the almighty God Himself to rescue me from the moment of death." At the age of 85 Kim died on 18 August 2009.Kim was a great leader at getting people and nations together. He brought people of India and Korea together by focusing on ancient stories that Princess Suriratna of Ayodhya got married to King Suro of Korea 2,000 years ago. Interestingly, Kim Dae-jung claimed his ancestry to the princess of India. Today, descendants of the couple number more than six million, which is roughly about 10% of the South Korean population. The tomb of the princess is located in city of Kimhae near Busan. Koreans have also preserved the rocks that are said to have been used by the princess during her sea voyage to Korea to keep her boat stable. Then in 2001, more than 100 historians and government representatives, including the North Korean ambassador to India, unveiled Queen Suriratna or Hwang-ok's (her Korean name) memorial on the west bank of the River Saryu in Ayodhya. This story inspired me to author a book of poems titled Mirror of Dreams which was launched by Counsel Generals of Korea and India in Vancouver in 2004.Ashok K. Rabindranath Tagore S Journey As An Educator written by Mohammad A. Quayum and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-12-20 with Education categories.

This book looks at Rabindranath Tagore’s, experiments and journey as an educator and the influence of humanistic worldviews, nationalism and cosmopolitanism in his philosophy of education. It juxtaposes the educational systems and institutions set up by the British colonial administration with Tagore’s pedagogical vision and schools in Santiniketan, West Bengal—Brahmacharya Asram (1901), Visva-Bharati University (1921) and Sriniketan Institute of Village Reconstruction (1922). An educational pioneer and a poet-teacher, Tagore combined nature and culture, tradition and modernity, East and West, in formulating his educational methodology. The essays in this volume analyse the relevance of his theories and practice in encouraging greater cultural exchange and the dissolution of the walls between classrooms and communities. This book will be useful for scholars and researchers of education, Tagore studies, literature, cultural studies, sociology of education, South Asian studies and colonial and postcolonial studies.
