This volume features more than fifteen essays written in honor of Peter D. Klein. It explores the work and legacy of this prominent philosopher, who has had and continues to have a tremendous influence in the development of epistemology. The essays reflect the breadth and depth of Klein's work. They engage directly with his views and with the views of his interlocutors. In addition, a comprehensive introduction discusses the overall impact of Klein's philosophical work. It also explains how each of the essays in the book fits within that legacy. Coverage includes such topics as a knowledge-first account of defeasible reasoning, felicitous falsehoods, the possibility of foundationalist justification, the many formal faces of defeat, radical scepticism, and more. Overall, the book provides readers with an overview of Klein’s contributions to epistemology, his importance to twentieth and twenty-first-century philosophy, and a survey of his philosophical ideas and accomplishments. It's not only a celebration of the work of an important philosopher. It also offers readers an insightful journey into the nature of knowledge, scepticism, and justification.

Reading Klein written by Margaret Rustin and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-08 with Psychology categories.

Reading Klein provides an introduction to the work of one of the twentieth century’s greatest psychoanalysts, known in particular for her contribution in developing child analysis and for her vivid depiction of the inner world. This book makes Melanie Klein’s works highly accessible, providing both substantial extracts from her writings, and commentaries by the authors exploring their significance. Each chapter corresponds to a major field of Klein’s work outlining its development over almost 40 years. The first part is concerned with her theoretical and clinical contributions. It shows Klein to be a sensitive clinician deeply concerned for her patients, and with a remarkable capacity to understand their unconscious anxieties and to revise our understanding of the mind. The second part sets out the contribution of her ideas to morality, to aesthetics and to the understanding of society, introducing writing by her associates as well as herself. The book provides a lucid account of Klein’s published writing, presented by two distinguished writers who know her work well and have made creative use of it in their own clinical and extra-clinical writing. Its aim is to show how substantial her contribution to psychoanalytic thinking and clinical practice was, and how indispensable it remains to understanding the field of psychoanalysis. Reading Klein will be a highly valuable resource for students, trainees in psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic practitioners and all who are interested in Melanie Klein and her legacy.

The Klein-Winnicott Dialectic: Transformative New Metapsychology and Interactive Clinical Theory brings together the theories of Melanie Klein and Donald W. Winnicott, two giants and geniuses of the British school of object relations clinical and developmental theory and psychoanalytic technique. In this book, The author attempts to integrate the theories of Klein and Winnicott, rather than polarising them, as has been done often in the past. This book takes the best of Klein and Winnicott for use by clinicians on an everyday basis, without having the disputes between their followers interfere with the full and rich platter of theoretical offerings they each of them provided. In addition, this book looks at the biographies of Klein and Winnicott, to show how their theories were inspired by their contrasting lives and contrasting parenting and developmental dynamics. By examining their theories in relation to their biographies, one can see why their dialectical theoretical focuses emerged, highly contrasted in their major emphasis, and yet highly complementary when applied together to clinical work.

While much writing has been devoted, predominantly by contemporary Kleinian adult psychoanalysts, to the Kleinian and post Kleinian development of Klein's work, comparatively little has recently been written about the ongoing importance and character of Klein's clinical work for contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy or analysis with very small children (2 - 6 year olds). Little attention now seems to be paid to the revolutionary character of her work from the start (in the early 1920s) with this age group and its challenges, still relevant today, or to her recognition of the importance of mother-infant relations in the period long before World War II brought investigation into and understanding of problems of attachment, separation and loss. This book addresses these issues and re-explores Klein's work in these (and other) areas. This book is concerned primarily with Klein's work with pre-latency children and aims to give these small children more of the voice today that Melanie Klein herself discovered.

The Role Of Sisters In Women S Development written by Sue A. Kuba and has been published by OUP USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04 with Family & Relationships categories.

Psychological theory has traditionally overlooked or minimized the role of siblings in development, focusing instead on parent-child attachment relationships. The importance of sisters has been even more marginalized. Sue A. Kuba explores this omission in The Role of Sisters in Women's Development, seeking to broaden and enrich current understanding of the psychology of women. This unique work is distinguished by Kuba's phenomenological method of research, rooted in a single prompt: "Tell me about your relationship with your sister." Rich in detail, the responses (many of which are reproduced at length within the book) provide a complex picture of sister relationships across the lifespan. Integrating these stories with current literature about gender and family composition for sisters of difference (disabled and lesbian sisters) and ethnic sisters, this book provides useful recommendations for therapeutic understanding of the significance of sisters in everyday life, integrating diverse perspectives in order to address the ways clinicians can enhance psychological work with women clients. A valuable contribution to the field of mental health, The Role of Sisters in Women's Development is highly recommended for therapists who wish to broaden their inquiry into the sister connection, as well as anyone who wants to further understand the importance of sisterhood.

The Book Of Listening written by Jean Klein and has been published by New Harbinger Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-11-14 with Self-Help categories.

This book is a compilation of Volumes 1 - 10 of Jean Klein´s journal Listening, published by the Jean Klein Foundation on a limited basis between 1989-1995. Each volume of The Book of Listening is arranged around a theme, for example, Love and Marriage, The Guru and Disciple, and includes a previously unpublished private discussion or a transcription of a public talk with Jean Klein. Listening also includes one question answered in depth (Your Question) and a brief description of Jean's unique approach to the role of the body in his teaching. For each volume Jean selected an extract from his own favorite literature and poetry, covering many ages and cultures, which complemented the depth and richness of his own expression. Most of Jean Klein's teaching was simply through his presence and through the question and answer dialogues where he “answered the questioner, not the question.” Jean emphasized the direct approach to liberation, an approach free from emphasis on the attainment of progressively subtle psycho-somatic states. The Book of Listening reproduces each original volume in full and, as well as offering an exposition of the direct path, captures the multi-cultural interests and tastes of this remarkable and pioneering exponent of Advaita in the West.
