Nanomechanics Of Structures And Materials written by Krzysztof Kamil Żur and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-24 with Technology & Engineering categories.
Nanomechanics of Structures and Materials highlights and compares the advantages and disadvantages of diverse modeling and analysis techniques across a wide spectrum of different nanostructures and nanomaterials. It focuses on the behavior of media with nanostructural features where the classic continuum theory ceases to hold and augmented continuum theories such as nonlocal theory, gradient theory of elasticity, and the surface elasticity model should be adopted. These generalized frameworks, tailored to address the intricate characteristics inherent at the nanoscale level, are discussed in depth, and their application to a variety of different materials and structures, including graphene, shells, arches, nanobeams, carbon nanotubes, porous materials, and more, is covered. - Outlines the advantages and limitations of size-dependent continuum theories and modeling techniques when studying fundamental problems in the nanomechanics of structures and materials - Discusses various analytical and numerical tools for identifying nanomechanical defects in structures - Explores a diverse array of structures and materials, including graphene, shells, arches, nanobeams, carbon nanotubes, and porous materials

The idea of organizing the Polish Congress of Mechanics was born in 2005 among members of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. The first Congress has been organized in 2007. In 2013, the organization of the Polish Congress of Mechanics was included in the statutory tasks of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Referring to the splendid tradition of Polish Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, the Congress has become one of the most important international scientific conventions representing this domain of science and gathering every 4 years about 500–600 specialists, who deal with the issues of mechanics and mechanical engineering in a broad sense. The organization of the Congress allows for the connection of many scientific communities, researchers, and engineers from various universities, faculties, research centers, and institutions. Such scientific meeting is an excellent place for presentation, discussion, and dissemination of new achievements and ideas relating to the theoretical foundations as well as practical applications of mechanics. The Congress presents the current state-of-the-art research in all disciplines of classical and quantum mechanics, solid and fluid mechanics, computational mechanics, applied mechanics, and physics, as well as structural mechanics and engineering.

Multiscale simulations of atomistic/continuum coupling in computational materials science, where the scale expands from macro-/micro- to nanoscale, has become a hot research topic. These small units, usually nanostructures, are commonly anisotropic. The development of molecular modeling tools to describe and predict the mechanical properties of structures reveals an undeniable practical importance. Typical anisotropic structures (e.g. cubic, hexagonal, monoclinic) using DFT, MD, and atomic finite element methods are especially interesting, according to the modeling requirement of upscaling structures. It therefore connects nanoscale modeling and continuous patterns of deformation behavior by identifying relevant parameters from smaller to larger scales. These methodologies have the prospect of significant applications. I would like to recommend this book to both beginners and experienced researchers.

“Computational Plasticity with Emphasis on the Application of the Unified Strength Theory” explores a new and important branch of computational mechanics and is the third book in a plasticity series published by Springer. The other two are: Generalized Plasticity, Springer: Berlin, 2006; and Structural Plasticity, Springer and Zhejiang University Press: Hangzhou, 2009. This monograph describes the unified strength theory and associated flow rule, the implementation of these basic theories in computational programs, and shows how a series of results can be obtained by using them. The unified strength theory has been implemented in several special nonlinear finite-element programs and commercial Finite Element Codes by individual users and corporations. Many new and interesting findings for beams, plates, underground caves, excavations, strip foundations, circular foundations, slop, underground structures of hydraulic power stations, pumped-storage power stations, underground mining, high-velocity penetration of concrete structures, ancient structures, and rocket components, along with relevant computational results, are presented. This book is intended for graduate students, researchers and engineers working in solid mechanics, engineering and materials science. The theories and methods provided in this book can also be used for other computer codes and different structures. More results can be obtained, which put the potential strength of the material to better use, thus offering material-saving and energy-saving solutions. Mao-Hong Yu is a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an, China.

This volume illuminates exciting new developments and approaches of classical mechanical problems. The ongoing necessity for research in this field stems from the need for new engineering solutions that save our resources and supplies sustainability standards as well as further considerations such as recyclability and environmental compatibility. These demands stimulate the special design of materials, e.g. composites. The interaction between materials and structures is related to different length scales and the combination of micro-, meso- or macroscale approaches results in new application possibilities. In addition, materials and structures are increasingly being analyzed under the influence of various physical fields.
