Internationalisation And Marketisation Of Higher Education In The Uk written by Zahra Kemiche and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-09-23 with Education categories.
This timely volume sets out the author’s novel concept of the Organic model of internationalisation, developed using participants’ perceptions, lived experiences, and recommendations for a better sustainable future of HE, and explores its broader application in the context of higher education. Using the qualitative IPA (Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis) approach, chapters showcase the lived experiences and subjective perspectives of individuals around the paradox that internationalisation presents, the distorting effects of institutional power, and the market- and ethics-based concerns of internationalisation in higher education. Drawing on an in-depth empirical study conducted using participant observation and interviews with participants from three UK universities, the book proposes a framework for redefining the global discourse of HE through the Organic model and urges the need for a compromise between profit and ethics to the benefit of both organisations and individuals. The book thoroughly discusses racist practices and introduces the concepts of “xeno-racism” and “angelism” , ensuring that the proposed approach is authentic and responsive to the diverse experiences of the student body. Showcasing a model with international potential and ramifications, this book will appeal to researchers, academics, and postgraduate students in higher education, internationalisation, and international study mobility. Practitioners and policymakers may also benefit from the volume.

Sexual Trauma Among Girls In Educational Settings written by Jennifer Etesse Herring and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-29 with Education categories.
This book uses an intersectional lens to explore the lived experiences of sexually traumatized girls in school. It provides a deep understanding of the students’ experiences, viewed through the prism of their multiple identities. The author employs a qualitative phenomenological study to investigate the psychological, social, and academic impacts of such trauma. The book’s core strength lies in its exploration of the intersectionality between identity and sexual trauma. It does this by examining the impacts of historical trauma, through the lens of four major historical events: transatlantic slavery, the Holocaust, World War II, and the COVID-19 pandemic. This research highlights potential mental health, social, and academic outcomes prevalent in historically marginalized groups, which is then connected to a broader understanding of intersectionality and trauma. It underscores the urgent need for educators and school leaders to understand this phenomenon in order to be effective in their roles. The book also emphasizes the importance of addressing trauma in educational settings, considering the intersectionality of identity, trauma, and educational experience. The book also proposes an additional identity marker to support Crenshaw’s theory of intersectionality: female sexual trauma survivor. This book is a valuable resource for scholars, educators, educational leaders, post-graduate students, and policymakers. It offers research-based theoretical approaches to addressing trauma and intersectionality in educational contexts. It is a must-read for those seeking to broaden their understanding of these complex issues and their impact on educational experiences for female sexual trauma survivors.

Engaging Critical Pedagogy In Education written by Fida Sanjakdar and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-02 with Education categories.
Presenting cutting-edge research from around the world, this book demonstrates how critical pedagogy is shaped by social-political contexts and ideological constructions of knowledge and power. The edited collection brings together a global author team using critical pedagogy to synthesise political and theoretical ambitions with the complex realities of classroom practice. The book addresses two key questions: what does critical pedagogy look like in educative work with young people around the globe? And how can critical praxis enacted in schools and classrooms push the core tenets of critical pedagogy so that they are more responsive to the complex power relations of the real world? Bringing together chapters that create a nuanced understanding of some of the challenges involved in the intersection of ideologies, systems and institutions, the authors offer a set of resources which respond to claims that critical pedagogy is often little more than emancipatory rhetoric with limited practical application. Spanning almost two decades of pedagogical thinking, practice, outreach, community development and activism, this robust volume will be of great interest to researchers and postgraduate students investigating critical education, curriculum, creative thinking and pedagogies.

Providing the first volume-length exploration of the role that dialogue can play in history education classrooms, this book explores the socio-cultural, psychological, and digital dimensions of dialogic practice to promote research into historical thinking, historical consciousness, and critical thinking in educational settings. This book’s novel approach is in its analysis of dialogical processes in various international and intercultural educational contexts; chapters compare Israeli and Palestinian textbooks and classroom discussion and explore teachers’ challenges to shift monologic school culture, as well as approaches to enhancing dialogic practices both in US contexts and in several EU countries. Each case study provides an insight into the nature of dialogue as both shared historical inquiry and cultural practice. How can dialogue be promoted, and through what mechanisms? In what ways can dialogue contribute to democratic societies’ thriving and dealing with and overcoming conflicts about different views on the past? Ultimately, the book looks to foster a nuanced and complex understanding of history, prompting consideration of different perspectives and a collective approach to overcoming troubled pasts and trauma. Featuring a truly international set of contributions from established and emerging scholars, this book will appeal to scholars, researchers, and postgraduate students interested in the history of education, education policy and politics, and historiography more broadly. This book was made possible with the support of the EU project www.making-histories.eu (10108606), coordinated by the first author.
